  1. Stick a fork in the Spygators: Tom Brady is more than likely out for the season...with a torn ACL.
  2. The ONLY coach to ever lead a Texas team to a NCAA men's basketball title: EL PASO, Texas (AP)—Don Haskins, credited with helping break color barriers in college sports in 1966 when he used five black starters to win a national basketball title for Texas Western, died Sunday. He was 78. Texas-El Paso spokesman Jeff Darby said the Hall of Fame coach died Sunday afternoon. He had no other details. UTEP was previously known as Texas Western. Haskins was an old-time coach who believed in hard work and was known for his gruff demeanor. That attitude was portrayed in the 2006 movie “Glory Road,” the Disney film that chronicled Haskins’ improbable rise to national fame in the 1966 championship game against Kentucky. The movie, which was preceded by a book of the same title, also sparked renewed interest in Haskins’ career.
  3. Some good points...but one correction: We were never Division II....we were I-AA (a big difference). And, that was 14 years ago....so I think maybe we should drop the I-AA excuse by now. Especially since I can name a lot of schools who came to Division I-A after we did.....schools who right now have passed us by in football: Troy, FAU, Boise State, South Florida, MTSU....just to name a few.
  4. 5. I'd love to know the reasoning behind putting our team in a hotel on the night before home games. How many tens of thousands of dollars does that cost every year? I still am pulling for Dodge. But he really needs to get over some of his elitist crap. Keeping fans out of practices/scrimmages......putting the team in a hotel for home games. That kind of stuff is fine......IF YOU'RE WINNING. But last I checked his record as a college coach is 2-12 (with one of the 2 being over WKU....which isn't even 1-A (or FBS) yet.
  6. El Guapo's.
  7. One other thing: The logistics of moving a game like this...take some time. (selling tickets, travel plans for teams/band, etc). So, I suspect that LSU will decide early this week....what their plans are. They can't wait until Wed-Thursday to make their decision. So, I'll go out on a limb here, and predict that Monday LSU announces the game has been moved to Texas Stadium.
  8. Yes....it's LSU's home game. So they would definitely get the gate. And I presume we would still get our $700,000 guarantee. As of right now...I think there's a better chance of this game being played in Irving, than in New Orleans. (looking at the Ike track projections).
  9. Do we really have the money to throw away....by paying for hotel rooms for HOME GAMES?????
  10. Tonight on the Channel 11 weather....they showed the track for Hurricane Ike going into the Gulf of Mexico....by early Thursday. I would think that might increase the chances of the game coming to Irving.
  11. Or even Texas Stadium. Scottie F alerted me to this info: http://blog.nola.com/lsusports/2008/09/lsu...or_north_t.html
  12. Well at least the new stadium seems to be every bit as big a priority as a community reading program that we launched: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...3.3d18a14d.html
  13. Also this viewing note: LSU--Appalachian State now a morning game: http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/

  15. The TCU men's basketball team has released its non-conference schedule. The Horned Frogs begin the season as part of the eight-team ESPN Charleston Classic in Charleston, S.C. It marks the first time since 2000-'01 that TCU will start the season in a tournament. TCU visits Texas Tech in its final non-conference matchup on Jan. 6. Nov. 14-16 at ESPN Charleston Classic (also featuring College of Charleston, Clemson, Temple, Western Michigan, East Tennessee State, Hofstra and a team TBA). Nov. 19 vs. Nebraska Nov. 26 vs. SMU Nov. 29 vs. St. Gregory's Dec. 3 at Colorado Dec. 6 vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Dec. 8 vs. Wichita State Dec. 22 at Louisiana Tech Dec. 30 vs. Colgate Of relevance to us....the fact that the Charleston tournament has one team TBA. Could that still be us?????
  16. Okay...so that's not a real life event? Anyway, if it's from a movie and it's scripted...it doesn't do as much for me.

  22. Here's the story from today's D-RC. You can read the time and location of the scrimmage...it's right there: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...9.2ad400a1.html
  23. Great post. You want to have a big laugh? For some reason, the time of tonight's scrimmage is listed in today's Denton paper. And as you can imagine, it doesn't say whether it's open to the public or closed to the public. My point: If it is closed...why even have the time and location in there? Maybe they like throwing fans out of Fouts...I don't know.
  24. Would this be the guy? http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...p;Q_SEASON=2008
  25. You two guys may not care about seeing practice..some of us do. And none of us on here, are DEMANDING that practices be open. What we're tired of...is this is the second year in a row, where it has been communicated to us that a practice or scrimmage was open. A lot of us planned our Friday night (or Saturday last year)....around watching said event. Only to be told hours before hand....that we couldn't come. TD can close all his practices. They can be open only to players' relatives, area high school coaches and former NT players. Hopefully those folks will also go to his radio show on Monday nights...since I won't be wasting my time going to those any more. I'll just go to the games, Coach.
