We have four scholarships to give (Howerton, Stewart, Dennis and McCoy)...plus hopefully we'll get our APR scholarship back. We've filled two of the scholarships with Holmen and Shorter. And one will go to Cameron Spencer....the kid that came here from SMU. That leaves two to fill....but possibly only one.

I doubt it. (Since that one is played after the bowls and features the top draftable players....I just think he chances at that game are remote). We have had guys in the other all-star games before....but not in The Senior Bowl (not since I've been following us anyway). If the Blue-Gray game was still around...I think he'd have a shot at that. The East-West Shrine game is now played at Robertson Stadium in Houston.....he wasn't listed on the roster for that game. One other shot...would be The Hula Bowl.

I don't think being bowl eligible is asking too much...at all. But, I do think there may be a few less bowls next year. It's just a guess....but I think 2-3 of the current ones may not be around in 2009.(And the Indy Bowl might just be one of those).

We know that if Jacob breaks your tournament scoring records....that he's really a helluva player.

We've won every game that we should have....lost two that we were favored to lose (Okie State, Houston). And, I know we were underdogs to Indiana State and probably to Sam Houston....when we played them on the road. And yet, we won both those games. So, I'm guessing the oddsmakers would have had us at 4-4 right now. We're 6-2. I'll take that. Hopefully...we'll beat Houston Baptist to go 7-2. Then things start getting interesting...we go on the road, to two places where it's hard for us to win (ULL and UNO). Then we come home to play a team we haven't beaten in the last two years (UTA). I'm thinking we'll know a lot more about this team....after those three games. But so far....so good.

Here's a guy that I hope we try to turn into a LB: Jeremy Phillips. I think with another 20 lbs. or more, and he could be as good as Kassell. Another thought at DT: Esteban Santiago came to us as a DT out of high school. Maybe he could be moved back to D line, if we needed another DT.

Nice game by our ladies. Really proud of them. And do know this....Coach Stephens is doing this with all of Coach Slinker's players. Stephens' highly touted recruits and transfers...aren't eligible until 2009-2010. Next game....Sunday at SMU.

I'm missing your point on ULL...how did they come up short? They had 6 wins over 1-A teams.

It seems that every team in the league was under the impression that being "bowl eligible" ...was good enough to get us a team in our other three bowls...Independence, Papa Johns, and St. Petersburg. And, you are "bowl eligible" at 6-6. But, our teams had to be 7-5 (or better)...not 6-6. Now KLLI-FM or 105.3, owned by CBS - which also owns CBS 11 News and TXA 21, is going in a different direction. The station will now be called 105.3 The Fan. The announcement that the 100,000 watts of radio airspace would be going all sports was made today. The Ben and Skin Show will be bumped up to the time slot that Russ Martin used to hold. One Russ Martin fan actually drove to the radio station to complain. "I'm very disappointed and actually had to get off the freeway to let someone know," James Wallace explained adamantly. "Russ Martin is what made this station. I'm not going to listen anymore." That type sentiment isn't shared by everyone. Sports fan Ray Villalobos says he stopped listening to Russ Martin after the show host was arrested last July for aggravated assault. Immediately after the arrest Martin was temporarily taken off the air. Martin turned down a plea bargain. His case goes to trial in January. General manager David Henry did not say if Martin's past arrest influenced the decision to discontinue airing his show. Henry did say the decision was a business choice to give listeners what they want. Russ Martin could not be reached for comment.

I agree. I believe the juco signing date starts Wednesday Dec. 17. It'll be interesting to see if Shavod signs with us...if he retains all three stars.
