Kudos to Brett Vito. He has an online story (D-RC) about Nate Brooks. It included Nate's stats....and that inspired me to look up the others.

Well from that.....I did like the way #44 runs with the football. Big running back......by our standards. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/damashja-harris/6815

Am I missing anyone??

The Jags are screwed now. Because of that released scrimmage video....I (with my untrained eyes) now know that the Jags will throw some....and run some. No telling what our coaches picked up. I'm calling it right now.......UNT 77 USA 0 (game called at half time, due to mercy rule)

I've looked around.....and can't find any news on the scrimmage. I don't get this media blackout....that we seem to have, with regards to football scrimmages. Used to, if nothing else....there'd be a scrimmage report at the official site. The NFL is brilliant with the way they market training camps and practices. They get fans pumped for the upcoming season. For some reason....ours are more secretive than the nuclear codes.

The incident took place on April 4. The players were arrested by campus police on August 9. Proving that there will never be a TV show called: CSI:UNTPD

According to Brett V....one of the camp surprises has been walk-on QB Drew Mastemaker (Austin Vandergrift). “Drew came in as a walk-on and continues to earn more reps with the twos,” Morris said of UNTs backups. “He has a really live arm and is picking it up fast.” (from the D-RC)

I'm sure Dayton is a tough place to play. We lost there several years ago. They've got home OOC games with Northwestern, Ball State, New Mexico State, Western Michigan, Lehigh, Marquette and UNLV.
-
We lost 15 games last year. We were 11-4 at home. Can we stop this nonsense....that no visiting team can win in Denton? Rice beat us a few seasons ago here. And UTSA beat us here LAST YEAR. Also....Charlotte was 13-5 in league play....we were 10-8. They beat us by 12 in Charlotte.

Mean Green Kickoff at DATCU - Saturday Aug 3rd 4-7 PM
SUMG replied to Pavlovs Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I didn't go......because every year it's the same thing. They have Jared say a few words. Some times the Prez does too. Then they have Dave Barnett interview every coach that is there. I would rather it be just two hours of mixing and mingling. (with other fans and the coaches). They could have tables set up for season tix, donations and whatnot. I would rather have a minute or two to talk to a coach....and then leave him/her, to visit with other fans. I wish they would try something new. The Barnett interviews get old (to me anyway). -
Stuff like this....makes no sense: We're going to High Point (27-9 last year) for a game. Was told...that we're not getting a return game. (just like we didn't from Boise and St. Mary's). And yet.....Charlotte just signs a home and home with Utah State. (I'm guessing that's at least a 2000 mile trip?) Edit: Looked it up.......2,032 miles apart.

And for those who don't know....Jasper's dad, John is an alum. Had a nice pro career for a while....then became a strength coach for some pro teams....and finally an NFL scout. Great guy. Jasper should have good wheels for an OL, since he played TE/DE in high school.
-
FWIW.....one of my neighbors is the O line coach at Argyle High. He told me that Jasper Lott is starting at RT. (Argyle is where Jasper played in high school)

That'll be a wash. As we play Texas Tech the week before you guys. So we're in the same boat.
-
Was hoping we would be going up against Coach Bohl. He was a coaching legend. As I recall....you guys promoted from within.....right? Anyway......with so much turnover (55 new players).......it's hard to guess how good/bad we might be. Hope that there's a good contingent of Wyoming fans at DATCU.

It's a great idea....but with TWU and Denton ISD involved....it could be a conviluted mess. If TWU is there, and Denton's four high schools have their boys and girls teams there...that'd be 9 other teams. I would presume if they're involved....all those teams would be introduced too. If it was just UNT....great idea. Now.....not so sure.

If these dollar figures are correct.....it's very strange to say the least. Just saw that UT is paying Delware State $110,000 and UAPB $105,000 to come to Austin. Apparently they won't play us even down there.....right? So this is what the P6 gives us all. Crappy home OOC games....because they jack up the market, by overpaying schools like Del. State and UAPB, for guaranteed Ws. Teams that I am guessing.....no one cares to see in Austin, any more than we want to see MVSU in Denton. So instead of interesting intra state OOC game....against us.......they play those guys. And the thing I really don't get. Losing to us.....or SFA....or ACU.....or UTEP....isn't gonna hurt UT. They can go 18-12, 9-9 in league play....and still get into the Dance. We're a school....where we need to almost be perfect (great season or run the table at the tourney)....to make the NCAA tourney.

Somehow Rice is getting Florida State to come to Houston.....but the game won't be played at Rice's gym.

Court ruling seeks test to decide if athletes are employees
SUMG replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
University employees should now sue.........claiming that they are "athletes." That way, they could get all the perks that athletes get (free education, free housing, food, stipend, great health care). I'm sure those guys at the Physical Plant could use a good trainer, after a day of hard work. -
Even though I posted that (it was on X)....I've had my doubts about that $90k figure. The game would be guaranteed to lose money. You'd have to have 3,000 paid customers.....all spending at least $30 each....just to break even. (that's not gonna have on Christmas break) So I can't imagine that $90 k is correct. I shouldn't have posted it.
