If you watched the game last night....there aren't many of them...any way.

James Miller was on Grant's staff in year 1. And has gone on to be a really up and coming assistant at NMSU, Miss. State and now Oklahoma State. (Associate Head Coach). Plus, he was a head coach in juco.....for four years. His teams went 86-23, and he sent 21 guys to Division 1 ball. https://okstate.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/coaches/james-miller/3405

He's 51 or so.

No one ever mentions him.....but I think Coach Estelle would be the first guy they'd look at......if we hired from within.

Hey, I just heard Emmitt won The Powerball. Why can't he build us a new colesium? Well on second thought.....it probably wouldn't be ready by tonight.

The budget is $53 million. From a Vito article in Feb. (D-RC) UNT finished with a surplus of $59,951 for the 2024 fiscal year that ran from Sept. 1, 2023, to Aug. 31, 2024. The school’s athletics budget was $53.3 million, up from $49.7 million from the previous year.

Good hire for them....

What kind of scheduling conflict?!

So I've heard both about the luncheon and a dance team competition as reasons for this. This from the D-RC: UNT was in position to host Oklahoma State in a quarterfinal game but will head to Stillwater instead on Tuesday. The Super Pit — UNT’s home venue — is booked for a staff appreciation lunch on Wednesday that will require the court to be removed from the venue. A two-day dance/drill will follow beginning Friday. (So the dance/drill team thing doesn't even start until Friday. It's funny....the AAC (American Airlines Center) will have several times in a year....where they have a hockey game at 1 pm......and then turn around the arena for a basketball game that night. (or vice versa). Here....we can't even figure out a way to do a basketball game at night.....then turn around and have it set up for a luncheon the next day. I realize it would have required some guys doing overtime. Maybe even bring in extra help from the Physical Plant. But whatever was paid out.....would have been easily covered by concession sales). Unbelievable. ) -
Mr. Mercer made it to 99. Brad Sham did a nice tribute to him on X. He included this picture:

Childers is not on the team right now...as far as I can tell. Sure wasn't out there Friday night. And you may know this....the opening game of any conference series.....they announce all players on both teams. She wasn't there.

We won game 2.....13-7. Now 4-4 in league play.....21-10 overall.
-
Ahead 12-7 in the 6th of game 2. We've made 3 errors......so only 4 of their runs are earned. We have hit four homers today. Hope we hold on to win. Player on another team I'd like to have: Their tiny RF Neely Taylor......one heckuva little batter. Hitting .387 as I post.

Boomsticks were out tonight......our gals run ruled Memphis 11-3. Everybody contributed. Skylar started and got the win. Game 2.....Saturday at 2. You can bring your dog to the game. (but better check it out first....there are some rules) Game 3....Sunday at noon. Go Mean Green!

NIT: UNT hosting Furman on Wednesday Night 7:00 in Denton
SUMG replied to ADLER's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Apparently a lot of the power conference schools are opting out of the NIT....to play in the Crown Basketball tournament in Vegas....(just a few select conferences).....in a few weeks. https://www.foxsports.com/college-basketball/college-basketball-crown -

yes, that is out there. But it has since come out that there wouldn't be a selection show and that it would be revealed online.. And if you check your ESPN2 guide on your TV.....I believe it has Women's Bracketology from 8-9. -

Even after y'day's loss....our NET ranking is 65....UAB's is 104. And we're in one of the top 12 conferences.....so looks to me, like we'd host a first round game (either Tu or Wd) -

The NIT used to have a selection show. But this year they did away with it. Supposedly, the field will be revealed online.........in the next hour or two. -
(from the Memphis paper) FORT WORTH, Texas — Memphis is one of four sites the AAC is considering for the 2026 men's basketball conference tournament, AAC commissioner Tim Pernetti said Sunday. Memphis is one of at least five sites that bid for the tournament. The other three are Wichita, Birmingham and Tampa. Those three sites bid for both the men's and women's tournament, but Memphis only bid for the men's tournament, Pernetti said. Jacksonville also put in a bid, but Pernetti said the conference is "focused on" the four other bids.

I think it's a real head scratcher.......that he'll put Conley and Bearpaw in the OF. Both are pretty slow. In that past, we've had three fleet outfielders out there. And to keep going to the Savage well......she just doesn't have it. Maybe use her in relief....and see if any of the true freshmen pitchers have anything. And who knows what happened to Childers?

Down 6-0 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Skylar gives up 5 earned runs in 2 innings pitched. Relieved by Anderson. We're not gonna win 30% of our conference games....if Skylar is our #1 pitcher.
