This staff is ours until WE want them gone
H-towngreen replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
This, this, this. No reason for us to be in N.O. -
Once again...how did we manage to end up here? All the nonsense about us wanting to go here for this reason and that reason was ridiculous. There was no benefit to us ending up here. What do we get from playing a team like Troy? We win and it’s “you should beat a sun belt team” we lose and it’s a huge issue for the program as you just lost to a SBC team that we were so eager to get away from bc we were better than them. We should’ve either been closer to home in any of the DFW area games, where we can have a huge turnout with our fan base. Or playing FSU in Shreveport. We win, hey we beat FSU, we lose, oh well, it was FSU. Whats happening now is exactly why this was not a good situation for UNT.

***OFFICIAL 2017 NEW ORLEANS BOWL GAME THREAD***
H-towngreen replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This can’t be surprising to anyone who’s watched this team all season. We are not what our record says we are. Defense is shit. Offensive line is shit. Those 2 things equal disaster against good teams. -

Think they were 3-3 throwing against Jenkins there. Saw him trying to talk some smack to the WR who torched him that drive. Might want to zip it till he doesn’t give up a TD almost singlehandedly on the opening drive. -

Jenkins getting killed early -
This....DD lived off of one great class.
-
They’ve killed it with the unis this season

It’s easy to look at his record and say “he’s a great coach!” Its easy to win 8 every season when you beat 4 cupcakes and then play the Tenn, Kentucky, Vandys of the SEC for another few wins. Look at his record vs the SEC West, not good. He lucked into Johnny Football and couldn’t capitalize on that momentum.

Looks bright for next season. We would only have to replace 3-4 starters
-
People do ignore an sos. You think 2 years after the season people realize who you played or do they just see that you won 9 games. Recruits don't look at sos, they look at results. Wins are wins. And at this point we need them against whoever we can get them against. I'm not one to complain about my $100 bill being wrinkled. Once we win games, once we are able to recruit better because we are winning, once more fans are walking thru the gate then we can book better teams.

I love it. Winable FBS game. At the end of the season no ones going to look back at 8 wins and be upset about that W. look at how Boise got to where they were. WINNABLE GAMES! With winning comes more fans and better recruits

All-time best UNT FB player you ever witnessed
H-towngreen replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Football
Jamario. It's not even close. What he did in his Freshman season was absurd. Seemed like he was putting up 250yds every game. You watched him and thought sure fire 1st rd pick. To this day I still wonder what would've been if not for the injuries, coaching change, etc. -

Between grades and off the field issues the chances this guy ends up on a college campus are slim to none. He was suspended multiple times this past season. Heck of a player sadly. -

ESPN turned a lot of people off with the screaming heads approach they had for the last 10 yrs. Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless cost that company big. The NFL is also losing viewers bc it's not just a Sunday/Monday deal anymore. Thursday night, games in Europe, when it is actually Sunday game day there are only a handful of games to watch so the odds of them being crappy matchups are even higher. They believed that the consumer couldn't be over saturated with football.

Wonder how he ended up on the UNT train. -
Big 12 expansion isn't about name universities, winning programs, prestige, or any of that other crap. It comes down to the all mighty dollar. If ESPN and Fox are going to give them more money for adding 2 schools then expansion will happen, if they don't then they stay at 10.

DRC: Baker examining UNT scheduling philosophy
H-towngreen replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm with Cerebus. I've been a fan of the Boise method. I have no problem a FCS team. Of course it would be nice if it were SHSU or SFA for the extra crowd. The big thing is if you are going to schedule teams from a P5 conference schedule the lower end teams. Vandy, Iowa St, Kansas, Colorado. Those are still name teams that maybe down the road we have a chance of beating. Get a home and home with them. -

Such a great marketing guru that he is taking pics of his screen on his phone to post. Cmon bro. That's 3rd grade. Also, as was pointed out. I would hope it would be thru the roof considering this is the first week of practices! -
Don't know where you're getting your info. They had a top 10 class before they got the 4 kids from Baylor. http://247sports.com/Season/2016-Football/CompositeTeamRankings https://n.rivals.com/team_rankings/2016
