  1. Calhoun plays for Wisconsin, they played Minn. and Lawrence Marloney.
  2. Just another week in the Sun Belt. NT wins, NT running back offensive MVP, NT linebacker defensive MVP. Life goes on as usual.
  3. He did it on only 12 carries. And how about those standings NT is the only team with a winning record.
  4. Why not all three?
  5. Just found this from collegefootballnews.com giving us some big props. I visit this site daily and it seems as though they show us some pretty good love most the time. Five Thoughts Week 2 By Mark Risley 4. While the majority of the college football world was engrossed in the epic battle in Columbus, OH (and the vast overflow entranced in the first half of the eventual LSU/ASU roller-coaster ride in Tempe, AZ), there was a heckuva game being staged in the Sun Belt Conference. Yeah, yeah. It sounds crazy, doesn’t it? You certainly couldn’t imagine anyone outside of Denton, TX and/or Murfreesboro, TN straying from their local ABC affiliates (although, a shot of Jack & a pint of Shiner Bock says that even the folks in those two towns demoted the Sun Belt to second fiddle this past Saturday evening), but having four TV’s has its advantages. In case you missed it, though, the evil empire of the Sun Belt, North Texas, was about to be vanquished by a fleet of Blue Raiders from Middle Tennessee State. MTSU was up 7-0 and about to march into the end-zone for another six pack, which would have likely been the end of UNT’s offensively-challenged chances of winning this game. Instead, UNT’s rising star LB Maurice Holman stepped in front of an intended TD pass from MTSU’s oft-accurate Clint Marks just in front of the goal line, and galloped 99 yards for the equalizing tally. Sure, the game was still very much in doubt at that point, but it may as well have ended with that very play. As usual (at least, for the past four seasons), the Mean Green defense took over & that was that – UNT 14, MTSU 7. Sure, UNT may still lose a Sun Belt game this season, but it’s unlikely that MTSU will be able to overtake UNT for the conference crown. This is what college football is all about – an elimination game in the second week of September. If you think the Ohio State-Texas outcome was a deflating blow to Tressel & Co., then you can imagine, in a conference where only one bowl berth is guaranteed, how much air was taken out of the bubble on the campus of MTSU. One day very soon, Andy McCollum & his Blue Raiders squad will get over the Denton hump, but that “blue dawn” will have to wait for yet another year. In the meantime, the broken levees may have forced the Sun Belt headquarters to jump tracks from its comfortable Crescent City environment, but the song remains the same: North Texas is still the team to beat in the Sun Belt.
  6. NT-28 Tulsa-17 Big day for PC and JT, Meager throws first career TD but also and INT. We have a tough time stopping their stud TE Mills, but in the 2nd half we finally realize they have nothing else. So we stick one of our faster LBs on him for the rest of the game and we pull away from there.
  7. Did he actually just say that. I'm no journalism major but that doesn't exactly strike me as something you should be writing. Second I take it that he isn't much of a North Texas fan. We had 5 pages talking about NT football. Third who in the hell is this guy, I've never even heard of him. Has this guy ever even been on our board, I'm pretty sure that if he would get on right now he would see how everything is pretty positive. The only negative thing posted here is his article and his blast at us. I'm demanding an apology from him and the DRC. I'm all about Vito but this guy is a bum.
  8. We all need to appreciate the effort that Daniel Meager put out on Saturday. His first ever action on the road, against a conference foe, and with title implications on the line. He ended up 10-15 for 120 and more importanly no picks. He did exactly what he was suppossed to do, keep us in the game. Lets hope he can have a good follow up for our first OOC win this year.
  9. Why is it that we didn't see these two great running backs in the same backfield against mtsu. Are we saving it for something? Or are we just not creative enough to find a way to put them together? This seems like it would be a great package to use during certain parts of the game.
  10. I think they are being a few points generous to us. And Ok. State has not been playing well so I'm surprised to see them favored by so much.
  11. The key for NT will be to stop their stud TE Garett Mills. He had something like 12 catches for 140 yds against OU, evein though he was cramping up the entire second half. He is without a doubt their biggest threat. We need to put someone with speed on him the entire game. I suggest Monroe.
  12. Does anyone know which freshman will be making the trip. And if any of them are expected to see any playing time.
  13. Ok State barely beat 1-AA Montana last week 15-10. And that was at home in Stillwater.
  14. Demario went to Kilgore, right? I wasn't sure so I checked both Kilgore and Tyler JC football rosters and he wasn't listed on either. Am I just completely wrong on both? Does anyone have an update?
  15. NTDrummer, I appreciate the offer, but I have made plans to watch both games(UT/Ohio St.) at Buffalo Wild Wings in the village. But I will make it out for sure make for most the other games.
  16. He had to drink away those terrible memories of having to live in Tennessee.
  17. NT 31 MT 27 Thomas 160 Cobbs 90 rushing 40 receiving Meager 9-15 1int 160 mostly short passing Quinn 90 Brandon Jackson game winning TD on 20 yd completion
  18. It has him listed as a senior on his bio, so I take it that he sits out this year and will have one year left to play(2006).
  19. With our depth at LB I say we invent the new 2-5-4 defense. Holman, Graves Monroe, Mendoza, and Thompson all on the field at once
  20. In most football contracts these days there is a buyout clause. Does anyone have any idea if there is one in this contract or what the payout is? We might not end up that bad after all. Say we get $200,000 for a buyout from LSU, we then save however much it would cost to travel to Baton Rouge. Plus we in turn MIGHT be able to schedule a D-1AA school to come here. Another home game, another win, more attendence, more money.
  21. Thats if there is a NO bowl this year
  22. I'm not much of a gambler but I have friends who are into it. I remember hearing from one of them that the home team is usaully given either 3 or 7 points just for being the home team. Anybody please correct me if I'm wrong.
  23. Matt Phillips was a highly touted recruit? By who Angelo State? I'm pretty sure that we were the only D-1 school to offer him.
  24. "MTSU's defense did well last week....90 yards on 17 carries." 90 divided by 17 = 5.3 Since when is giving up 5.3 yards a carry doing "well".
  25. I actually live out in Sugar Land. It will probably only take 45 min or so. But I'm still a broke college kid bartending his my through school. So saving some cash by having friends in the industry really helps out. I made it to most of the televised games last year at Knuckleheads. So I'm sure that I'll make it up there on nights that I'm not working.
