Mavericks get it right!
Rudy replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Yeah, I always did like the green and blues. Classic. I take it you like uniform talk? If so, maybe we should get it up and running again. -
Can anyone tell me how to change what it says under your avatar?

Mavericks get it right!
Rudy replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
ICoach, was under the impression that you were glad the Mavs left the classic Green and Blue look? Maybe I'm thinking of someone else. I can see the argument, that the old jerseys had served their time, but I think they should have stayed with the green and blue, and maybe doctored up the logo. We'll see on the boys jerseys, I'm just not a fan of the white helmets. -

I don't like them. I do like the Green and Blue, which they never should have left. but those just dont look right. They may not be so bad except for the wierd script. Why do the Cowboys keep experimenting with an alternate jersey. Some teams should NEVER change their unis. Cowboys, Lakers, Yankees, Red Sox, Red Wings. Sometimes you can't make a uni any better. -
TCU to wear all-black today
Rudy replied to Coach's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
So, we copied the tortilla thing from tech, which wears black jerseys, now TCU wears black, look out for the New Orleans uni's <_ -
Artest suspended for the year!
Rudy replied to SUMG's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I dont like the TBA, but Im glad to hear that the commish has the guts to suspend them w/o PAY! Now, onto tracking the fans down and charging them. -
Exactly Matt. I think he is a coach that could also build up our fanbase to a larger die-hard core. I know that we would have alot to compete with If he chose to leave, and if DD left. I just think that this is the kind of program he shines in.
-
Maybe Im just dreaming. But I think Utah is where UNT wants to be, and we are where Utah was, not too long ago. He is a great coach, and has bulit the Ute Program to a powerhouse. Say what you will, but I dont see any BCS boys lining up to play them. The just renovated their stadium a few years ago, and its a beautiful sight now. We have a stadium in the works, and an Athletic Center almost completed. We have proof that new facilities are on the way. Meyer just seems like the kind of coach that likes to build winners and show the BcS boys up. Now, Im not saying DD is going anywhere, but if he did, we would be crazy not to go after this guy.

But it is in the works.

OK, so we have seen the rumors of Spurrier going to S Carolina come true. Whats next for K-State? They aren't going to a bowl game. What do you think the likelyhood of DD going to K-State? More money, better facilities, better recruiting (Big 12), and a more dedicated fan base. Now, if he were to leave, who would you like to see come in, and/or who do you think we could get? Personally, I would LOVE to see Urban Meyer, the coach from Utah come here. I know its a long shot, but Utah and NT aren't too different. Both are mid majors. Utah just renovated their stadium, we are building a new one. He has built the Utah program into an awakening power. I could see Coach Meyer coming in and building on DD's sucess and achievments. It would require a lot of money, but I think it would be an extremely worthwhile investment. The location would work in our favor as to many other schools looking for a coach. Utah and Texas are both hot during the summer, but we don't have the winter weather they have to deal with up there. Like I said, I know its a longshot, but IF DD were to go elsewhere, and Im not saying he will or that I am hoping he does, Meyer would be the guy I'd want us to pursue.

Melee at Detriot vs. Indiana game
Rudy replied to a topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Artest is a piece of crap. He, Jackson, and I think one other player threw a punch, and any of the other staff from the Pacers who threw punches should all be charged. That said, The fan who threw the beer, those fans who jumped in, and then all of the other jackasses who threw crap should also be charged. I hope the Detroit Police see all of those fans on tape, track them down, and arrest them. What is confusing is that if you watch ESPN news, those NBA guys are all saying that the players are completely innocent in this. They are saying that Artest and Jackson were afriad and fighting for their lives. No crap, heres a thought, have some restraint and don't go into the stands. EVERYONE involved should be brought up on charges. Those "barriers" between the fans and the players exist for a reason. When you pay for your ticket to a sporting event, you have the right to heckle the players, but not assult them. The players are making enough money, turn your head the other way. PATHETIC!!!! -
Im still waiting on you to name these 50 other D-1A schools that are lining up for DD.
-
I don't think its the players who take the mentality, I think its DD and his staff, or maybe its just DD. All I know is that the players and RV appreciate the effort. I have always recieved nothing but the sincerest "thank you for your support" from them.

Whats wrong with wanting to win OOC games? They bring credibility to not only the school, but the conference. Win bowl games? check your box scores, we are 1 and 2. Whats wrong with wanted to be ranked higher than 65? How are we finding something to cry about. We are stating the facts. look at the OOC record, see where we are ranked, look at the little attention we get from the national media. "And why the fan support is growing, are you ready to say at a level thats above critisism?" What is that suppsosed to mean? I think we are ready to move to a level above criticism. Seriosuly, Im not sure what you mean by that. We know that DD sees it as his team against the world, and making comments like the one made last night reinforce that. And why are you telling us to prove him wrong? We are the ones who go to nearly EVERY game. We are the ones who make 7 hour road trips during the week to watch our team play. We are the ones who have stuck by the team when they were 0-4 and being laughed at by the nation. We are the ones who still filled Fouts when we were on the brink of the Botom 10. We are the ones who will be in full force in New Orleans, despite lack of money. We re the ones who have earned the right to complain and point out things that we feel should be improved upon. We are the UNT faithfull, despite who the coach is.
-
Pierow, thats an excellent post, but you forget one thing. The DD worshipers dont see the fact that we congratulate what he has done, now we want to move to the next level. They are perfectly content with winning the SBC every year, going to NO, and finishing the season ranked 55-65. They think that anyone who does critisize DD in the slightest is anti-DD and a DD basher. It is perfectly ok for him to say what he does, even though it would not be tolerated ANYWHERE eles in D-1A. Don't forget, we are wrong because we don't have our nose in DD's arse. They are right because they do.
-
No, we are sorry fans because not everyone worships the ground DD walks on. Im not going to use the analogy Coach used earlier this week. I want to keep this thread alive
-
Please got off of the worst D-1A facilities issue. That is about the only thing you can ever say. Yes, DD built this team into a winning team. Do you for some reason not beileve that SS can not do the same thing too? If so, I think you need your head examined. Im not putting a vote either way on this thread. If it came down to it, what is the worst he could tell UNT, hell no? The thought that someone OTHER than DD can build this program, or improve it, is mindboggling to you. How dare anyone badmouth the mighty DD. Get off your knees! If you keep maintaining that there are AT LEAST 50 programs that want DD, name them. It shouldn't be that hard, becaue, as you said, there are AT LEAST 50.

WE WILL BE TEARIN DOWN FIELD GOAL POSTS
Rudy replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
hey kit, maybe you can block the goalposts with the flag? -
Thank you for saying I have made a rational argument. However, I really don't feel I am anti-DD. I don't really feel there are many on this board who are. I think the major consensus is that IF DD can show us that he can win OOC and get us at least a little closer to the next level, fine, lets keep him. However, if he can't, then it is time to part ways. Right now, he is not proving that he can, and that is the general idea why we feel the school and DD should move on. We all want the best man for the job, the best man that can move us up.
-
Why did you respond, I had a list of 5 threads I had the last word in. Who is going to run DD off, hasn't he been badmouthing the fans and facilities for years, from what I hear. I can understand slip ups and getting ofver them. But we did not slip up against Baylor, we were beating like a 1-AA team. We didn't even try to go for it on a 4th and 1 when there was no reason not to. FAU is still a 1-AA team. I don't call losing and being outcoached to them a slipup.
-
Why is it expected to beat Baylor? Sure they are in the Big 12, but they are a bottom feeder. WE only decimated them 52-17 the previuos year. And we are only supposed to be getting better. FAU is still a 1-AA team. Yes they are good, yes they will get better. But they are still a 1-AA team. We are supposed to be getting better, that loss is unacceptable. And the fact that we were outcoached makes it even worse. And can we please stop using the Facilities issue as the sole excuse for not being a powerhouse yet? I agree they are not the best. But that is something that you work around. USF didnt have a problem working around the fact that they didnt even have a home stadium when they moved to 1-A fb. It is also being overlooked that alot of the people who are not fans of DD are some of the most devout UNT fans. so why do we assume they will jump ship, they have stuck it out so far.
-
Im not apoligizing for anything. I have said all along, although some of you overlook it, that I praise DD for the job he has done. But I will also critisize him for the job that he has not done, which is beat OOC teams. We expected to be 2-2, maybe even 3-1 with a lucky bounce. There is no reason to get out coached against FAU and Baylor. Now if this has happened once or twice over 5 or more years, i would not say anything, but it happens 3 or 4 times EVERY year. The play calling is something else that irks alot of us. Now, he has opened it up more this year, unfortunately we are losing our starting QB, so we will go right back to extremely conservative playcalling next season. Since we have PC and JT, it won't be so bad. But we cannot waste JQ's talent by never passing. Since we are losing so much this offseason, we may have to keep Dickey a couple more years so he can recruit new talent. But I would still look into who would be available, and I expect DD to look for other jobs this year. I don't think DD should be fired, but if he leaves, it should be a mutual departure. On the comment made about Marshall, Marshall was still 1-AA while we were 1-A and in the Big West. Look at where they are now. Yes, they have definetly passed us, which I think is embarrasing, looking at the competition in that area. OSU and WVU are the 2 most prominent teams in the area. Unlike UNT, however, Marshall has a deep passionate fanbase. They are 10X more passionate about UM than we are about UNT. So, what excitement do you get out of this bi weekly thread?

WE WILL BE TEARIN DOWN FIELD GOAL POSTS
Rudy replied to UNT_playmaker's topic in Mean Green Football
Don't know if we should tear them down for Idaho. -
First off, check the number of posts. Second, I was just asking, so don't get your panties in a wad. Ive supported the team through win, loss, sun, or rain where I was soaked to the bone. It struck me as odd how someone was watching the game on tv, THEN decided to go to the game. Again, I was just asking, if your going to take something personal, wait until its called for. Ive sat through 3 years of what you saw Saturday night. Actually I've seen worse. You want to feel sick, how about standing in your seat, with 20 feet of empty space all around you, when the music from the band bounces off of the aluminum bleachers because the stadium is half full on a good day. That made me sick.
