  1. CFL can be a fun watch sometimes but the regular season feels so worthless with that many playoff spots. They should go single table and just have a championship between the top 2. Crossover spot in the east with a 7-10 record? Blegh.
  2. Short story time: 2005 MLS Cup was being hosted in Frisco between the LA Galaxy & New England. Galaxy had a ton of talent but were inconsistent and fired Sigi Schmid for Steve Sampson in like July of that year. Sampson was the head coach of the US Men's team in the 1998 World Cup who embarrassingly lost to everyone with poor team selection and an even worse strategy. BUT by some miracle Sampson still guided the Galaxy to winning the US Open Cup, and now they're set to win MLS Cup and make it a helluva a year. They win on a golazo in OT and their fans go pretty wild, I mean, who wouldn't in this scenario if this is how your team wins? So we all pile out to the tailgate and the Dallas supporters group was hosting a good many fellow Galaxy supporters. I'll never forget this one guy who quickly came down from the high of winning the championship to suddenly saying "ah crap it means Sampson is gonna stick around". Really blew my mind the mental gymnastics that one has to go through to hate a coach so much for their performance, only for that coach's performance to actually win you a title. I thought back on it a few years later and realized that I never wanted to be like that. I really don't approve of Seth's record here, I think he did great in taking us from the doldrums to consistently average, but if he wins out or comes close this season I won't be like the anti-Sampson dude and enjoy the moments that come along with winning. Thanks for coming to my pointless Ted Talk. Also, Sigi Schmid would go on to win like 4 more cups with two different clubs after being fired by L.A.
  3. You have to be high as a kite to take this so seriously. Like someone said earlier, they're all overpaid.
  4. Not arguing that either way, but there's no way he gets fired in that scenario.
  5. Running the table with a bowl win would mean 10-3 and there's absolutely no way he'd lose his job.
  6. I did like the bit where the mascots played battleship though.
  7. I don't see how your argument works if FIU is that bad, and UTSA ain't exactly dominating, then why would that mean UTSA will kill us?
  8. I'd let my kid attend SMU before sending them to Stoolwater.
  9. Rutgers are 3-2?
  10. I saw an argument that this also prevents rash decision making and gives coaches a little bit longer of a leash. I can agree some to that but college football coaches have way longer leashes than a few pro sports leagues, that's for sure.
  11. How long is that thing? I stopped after like 30
  12. Ugh. Boomers had it so good, they have no idea.
  13. You're right on all your other points but I think you missed the memo on Kansas this season.
  14. I land here a little too but am firmly in the camp of "you did a great job, but it's the steroid era and we gotta swing for the fences". Unless we're gonna do that, what's the point? The Linebackers coach from Ole Miss or the OC of Tulsa and the quarterbacks coach from the Buccaneers have all been done, it's time to see if Gary Patterson wants one more chance to turn another North Texas university's football program into something bigger. Hell let's grab Jimbo when he's canned, he won a national title after all.
  15. Oh please. Simply having a .500 record in any conference gets you a bowl game these days. That's such a weak argument.
  16. How do you lose yardage on that play...
  17. The first trick play either team run is gonna fool these camera people so bad.
