Must Watch TV
Coffee and TV replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I'll definitely watch it but I'll need to pirate it, especially if he's making any money off of it. -
Never noticed the sticker on the whiteboard above the kid's head: that's Northwest High in Justin. Wonder if that kid ended up at UNT or SMU.

DRC acquired by KERA

I'm sure you apply this same logic to the corporate journalism you consume as well? -

Yeah that < 1% of their $400 million annual budget really creates a Soviet-era propaganda machine. -
This sucks. It makes no sense for Washington to be playing Rutgers and not Washington State. This could have all been prevented if NCAA just negotiated TV rights as a whole. Instead it leads to a race for the elites to grab everything and keep further dividing the gap between G5s and P5s, or whatever the new term will be.

Texas Tech. -
As long as those Laramie games stay in September. Probably a good idea to travel a day early for that altitude as well.

Damon West tweet about Dickey
Coffee and TV replied to Glory to the Green's topic in Mean Green Football
What hat is that Dickey has, New Mexico State? -
Wonder if they'll notice their mistake before the paint soaks in.

100th meridian. Anything west of that is good luck finding water pre-1930.

This article is from last year but can explain a little better than I can. Seems as though the Giants were looking at Silicon Valley for a new stadium deal back in the day, so the A's gave them the go ahead. The Giants won't return the favor 30 years later apparently. Probably has to do with how the TV money is split, how much advertisers are willing to pay considering the market, etc. https://therealdeal.com/sanfrancisco/2022/07/29/how-the-as-prevented-themselves-from-building-a-south-bay-stadium/

I don't know the full story but apparently the A's gave up San Jose territory to the Giants a while back for whatever reason. Giants wouldn't give it back and that killed off their stadium plans. It's a very moneyed part of the Bay Area and probably where a good bit of the Giants season tickets come from, not to mention a lot of Silicon Valley executives discussing deals in box seats at Giant games and that sorta thing.

Same kinda thing happened in Columbus with the Crew: the market was there but the product was not. Owner threatens a move, instead gets a sell on the club and a discounted expansion team in Austin. New Columbus owners build a new stadium, create a competitive team, and suddenly the fans were there all along. This owner hasn't exactly been doing much to give these people a reason to show up the last 7-8 years as I understand it. The city apparently made a good faith offer for a stadium nearby the Coliseum, but the ownership balked and took a worse deal in Vegas. But what was really the death blow was when the Giants blocked them from building a new stadium in San Jose. They had one foot out of the door after that happened.

Breaking: Australian Punter Commits to North Texas
Coffee and TV replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
He'd be happy we know a lot about other famous Australians. They are basically British Texans after all.
