  1. I think in response to this stupidity I'm changing my anglo name to Rongonaloaprimataveraptra.
  2. Typical. You couldn't prove anything so you just roll your eyes when I make a truthful statement. You're one piss poor mind reader.
  3. I don't know who the Democratic candidate is, so I don't know.
  4. That's a lovely generalization but I am not a member of any political party or organization. In fact, I plan on voting for Kay Bailey in the Republican primary next year.
  5. C'mon, because the government had so much money before the Kennedy tax cuts the infrastructure was 10 x's better than what it is today as a result. Not to mention that it also had the funds necessary to send all its GI's college and provide low-interest loans. When Reagan cut taxes in 1981 they were so deep he had to roll them back. Hell, there are increases to taxes that haven't even occurred yet. Indifferent is exactly what I am. We inherited a financial crisis and is taking what I see as necessary steps to keep from deepening the recession. I do understand the debt will probably double considering the current course, which is why taxes will probably have to be increased to the upper brackets. However, long term plans to decrease and control medicare and social security costs are the only thing that can bring it down. Yet he inherited a surplus. And if by 'bring it under control' you mean a borrow and spend philosophy, then yeah that's exactly what happened. Political suicide. Obama's proposal for minor changes to reduce the huge defense budget is already meeting with resistence and outcry. Good luck ever getting it to half of what it is now. Ignoring the fact that I have fundamental differences with this statement, this is ignoring reality. Granted if you can find a way to elect about 240 UNTFlyer's to congress, as well as a UNTFlyer president, these statements are pure fantasy. Medicare and Social Security are both WIDELY ACCEPTED bi-partisan programs. There will be no Congress, no president, Republican or Democrat that will make large scale changes to these programs.
  6. You think that 1.3 trillion in tax cuts had nothing to do with the deficit? Really? Record revenues because there was a record amount of people working because there was a record amount of people in the United States. Smoot-Hawley is not a good example of raising taxes. That act was passed with protectionism in mind, not raising revenues. The problem that incurred was that there was retaliation by other countries and imports plunged. Its a different ballgame than anything being proposed currently. I didn't say they don't go into the same pot, I'm just saying that was the intention. Hell with the elimination of pay-go by the 'conservatives' who ran Congress for 12 years, it was a borrow and spend bonanza. At least with the sin tax there's the idea that something is covering it.
  7. The tobacco tax is purely for SCHIPS. Its purpose is not intended for crop subsidies or debt interest.
  8. You mean cut back on social security and medicare just as baby boomers start hitting the qualifying ages? Good luck on that one, I think you have a better chance of being an astronaut on the next moon mission. And hey since you advocate cutting spending, let's start with the defense department. Instead of cold war defense weaponry, we could use a more tactical (and less expensive) military considering the current enemies.
  9. Nevermind that we had two deep tax cuts under Bush and our deficeit shot up exponentially.
  10. Most of the spending is for social security and medicare, and those aren't going away anytime soon. Taxes will have to be raised if we ever want to debt to dwindle.
  11. Keith stated facts. I won't argue with any of them. Now if he's trying to string them together to prove anything, he'll get nowhere.
  12. I'm not deflecting anything. The very fact that Republicans had no shot at the white house in 2008 meant they had to deflect from the issues, which is exactly what the 'secret Muslim' memo was. I can put together a bunch of 'facts' about anything and web it into a conspiracy theory, doesn't make it any more true.
  13. Too cute. You should go write for conservapedia. I hear they're looking for some more conspiracy theorists.
  14. I read somewhere that that particular picture is a fake. But perhaps I'm confusing it with another.
  15. He put us into a $14 trillion debt all by himself? Wow, that's news to me.
  16. None of the above. It signaled what you all thought he was: a secret Muslim.
  17. Willing to hear what the other side has to say? Newt Gingrich, George Will, and John McCain are on the other end of the political spectrum than I. Alan Keyes, mAnn Coulter, and John Stossel are frauds. Now take your 'open mind' theories and shove it.
  18. Even the Chinese are pissed. Something tells me sooner or later North Korea will cease to exist within the next decade.
  19. No it didn't. It was a quick mass shooting that turned into a hostage situation. And these people were taking citizenship tests, they couldn't legally carry a weapon anyways.
  20. Well you've convinced me. I didn't realize it could be put in such simplistic terms.
