  1. If ads on The Ticket during the afternoon drive for the week leading up to the next home game is too much for our athletic dept then just close up show now.
  2. I know you're the ad expert but it's really 500k for a small ad campaign on some local news networks? Shit, can we afford to at least send out a postcard reminder to every mailbox in the DFW alumni network?
  3. Better analogy is you bragging that you saw some titties on spring break. All you're doing is getting clobbered by these "hot teams". I mean you're literally not even scoring on them.
  4. There's only 450 in the band, so even if you had both their parents & step-parents you're talking about 1000 at the absolute most. I've seen the exit happen after halftime, but rarely has it ever been more than a few people.
  5. A wild JayDub appears....
  6. Right. Because these days you get the cops called on you for letting your kids wander the neighborhood by themselves. Riding my bike to the video rental place is something i did at 10, 11, and most kids aren't even allowed to cross the street by themselves these days. We created a world where it's safer than ever for our kids yet we never let them out into it and then wonder why they're so afraid. That's fair to think and admit, and understand that it's a complicated issue. My initial reply was just aimed at all the lazy "cuz they don't get spanked enough" rhetoric which has been shown time and time again to have the opposite effect of what is intended.
  7. That's kinda my point, we've simply become much better at recognizing those things, kids learning what those feelings are and mean, and therefore the statistics for them are definitely gonna show to be much higher than the past. I'm not really in any pain, I just brought up my stepdad as an example to all of the "swat your kids more" posts, and how that generally just breeds more anger and violence. Since moving away from that kind of discipline we've only seen youth violent crime fall, same for a lot of other statistics that one can measure youth behavior with, so I certainly disagree with the notion that kids aren't punished enough. They may lack for certain things, and maybe work discipline is one of them, but they also seem to be the generation that doesn't take BS from people in situations where and when they don't have to. Ah. Well, they certainly happened too, just read about Ole Miss when James Meredith dared stepped foot on campus. Then for 40 years they hooted and hollered for black guys on the playing field all while waving confederate flags.
  8. Well 2021, put about 15 miles on my feet walking the city and staying downtown, got engaged in the Rose Garden. Beautiful place. I got news for you about every major city in the u.s. Funny, I was told all the same crap about Seattle and was just there last week, very incredible and lovely city.
  9. Did you live through all the race riots that white people started when they had to start sharing water fountains with black people too?
  10. And that's the kids fault? Also, they are not. They reached 40 year lows during Covid and only have a miniscule uptick since https://www.bgsu.edu/ncfmr/resources/data/family-profiles/loo-divorce-rate-US-geographic-variation-2022-fp-23-24.html#:~:text=After reaching a 40-year,increase from 2021 to 2022. Yeah because those things were openly discussed and dealt with properly in the generations before them? Try and tell your parents you have anxiety or depression in 1978 and they laugh you out of the room.
  11. You don't find that youth violent crime being down 60-70% from its peak kind of goes against the whole "kids are undisciplined these days" narrative? I'm sure I can find a graph that shows the same thing when it comes to stuff like DUIs and DWIs, but casually dismissing it is easier, so.
  12. It shows that youth crime is less than half of what it was in the 80's and early 90's. Sorry I won't make your horse drink the water.
  13. Which is funny, because it's still nicer than any downtown in Texas.
  14. Yes, an even bigger, stupider blanket statement. Should probably stop spending all your money and free time worrying about your alma mater if they just keep pumping out stupid people. Tell me more. https://www.statista.com/statistics/477508/percentage-of-serious-violent-crimes-involving-youth-in-the-us/
  15. Yes, that's an apt analogy for what many of you are doing in this thread: continuing the tradition of what every modern society has done by whining about how useless the youths are, very original and thought-provoking.
  16. Love that everyone on this board with the worst opinions all agree that the problem is kids don't get beaten enough. All of those beatings by my stepdad just made me yearn for the day that I was big enough to fight back. Enjoy the worst nursing homes your kids can't afford.
  17. We demolished them but Tulsa will finish 4-8. Great game, doesn't take away from a solid win, but that's a crummy team. Bye week and then a road trip against a very winnable opponent, hope their heads stay in the right place!
  18. Wings? Haven't seen them in like 15 years.
  19. This varsity app is the biggest pile of dogshit. It'll never play more than 2-3 minutes before cutting off and you gotta restart the app again 🙄
  20. At least with ours you can make the acronym a word. TDECU was just a mess of a name for a stadium.
  21. My wife always likes to dog on me that at games nobody is ever wearing the same shade of green.

  23. This was certainly the case when I was a freshman, and as upperclassmen you see more students working 30 hours a week to live and work in Carrollton or Lewisville the way I did.
