  1. One of the funniest threads of all time. I'm about to bust out here at work.
  2. My impression of the survey was that there wasn't really anything listed that anyone would NOT want. I know that I ranked just about everything high because the only things listed were common sense things that everybody would want. So, everyone still could have ranked "athletics" as a very important criteria, but just shaved off a notch and I could see how it might end up in the bottom 5 rankings. I also think this is a ridiculously small sample of the possible population of respondents.
  3. I'm talking about the point at which the place looked the fullest, say late 2nd quarter. Now, if people were constantly coming and going, I'm afraid I don't have the technology to figure that out.
  4. Agreed. I'd say it was more like 11-12K (7500 on student side and 4000 on pressbox side). There are 10,000 seats on each side, right? The student side looked 70 - 75% full. When I walked over and looked back at the pressbox side, it looked like about half as many as were on the student side.
  5. Agreed. Unless and until he shows good reason not to stick with him, I say we go with Matt.
  6. Good grief people. This crap is giving me tired head. If someone says they've had enough and are leaving, I don't blame them. I wish they'd stick with it, but I don't blame them. If someone looks back at the pressbox like "What the hell was that?", I don't blame them. It might look a little silly, but I don't blame them. If someone expresses their disappointment/disapproval with any of the coaching staff, I don't blame them. I still hope they hang in there, but I don't blame them. Just freakin' chill people. This is one season. There will be decades more, there will be dozens of coaching changes, there will be losses, there will be wins, there will eventually be a new stadium. There are going to be diehards, bandwagoners, fair-weathers, etc. Just be happy that there are fans. GO MEAN GREEN!
  7. Yeah, and somebody thought they needed our beer more than we did at my tailgate spot. Came out after the game and the coolers had been raided. Get a rope!
  8. Oh, and we will be grilling ham.
  9. plus with Homecoming it should be a good turn out. I will be disappointed at anything less than 20,000.
  10. OK, I just read through this thread and would like to make a point. Whether you're a player, parent, coach, athletic dept. official or administrator, it's the folks NOT on this board that you should be concerned about. Everyone who posts here fully supports the program. We have the best interest of the program in mind. Isn't it pretty obvious that we are passionate? Be glad that we exist and do your damnedest to cultivate more of us. We are the ones who buy tickets, show up at every game, travel to away games, join the MG Club, buy gear, etc. We are not the enemy! GO MEAN GREEN!
  11. Curious about other's take on the pass interference call late in the game. Since it happened right in front of the Mean Green fan section, we had a pretty good look at it. It was a jump ball and our guy (can't remember who it was) wanted it more than the two defenders. He split the two defenders coming back to the ball and made the catch. I don't see any way it could have been offensive pass interference. What did George and Hank have to say about it? Note: I'm not trying to say this was the difference in the game.
  12. Any idea where we should park tomorrow? Where will the greenbackers be located pre-game?
  13. La Tech - 31 NT - 9
  14. Pretty funny.
  15. I took a quick look at some stats and results and, unfortunately, I don't see things getting any better for us this week. I see more struggles on offense, leaving the defense on the field too long. Eventually, the defense will tire and FIU's passing attack takes its toll. Hope I'm wrong. FIU - 19 NT - 13
  16. I don't care where, but let's just come to some consensus. A couple of years back, when we played at Monroe, all the talk was about going to one of the casinos after the game (can't remember which one now). Anyway, we were there for several hours and never saw another greenie in the place.
  17. Maybe the fact that 1/2 the crowd had disappeared by the end of the 3rd quarter of a close game had something to do with it.
  18. Green blood will flow unless administration pulls support, drops to I-AA or drops the program altogether. If that happens, count me out for good.
  19. Absolutely. I have done this a number of times.
  20. I'm not talking about the fair-weather spare. I'm talking in general, from an overall perspective. You're right, there will be fewer people for the rest of THIS season, but the interest amongst all the various facets of fandom has increased. Not that it can't change back to the way it was 4 or 5 years ago, but if we keep the momentum going, it will only get better.
  21. 17K+ on a Tuesday night at 6:30 with a 1-2 record? Even before last night, I believed the program had reached the point where we will draw very well if the product is descent. No more complaining about students, faculty, lack of promotions, the Denton community, alumni, etc. The program now has support from an attendance standpoint (financial is still a ways off). If we had come into last night's game at 2-1 after beating MTSU and Tulsa and staying within 14 points of KSU, there would have been well over 20K on hand. You could not have said that 3 years ago. We must maintain the momentum. Keep it up RV!
  22. Leaving work at 2:15 for 2:30 dentist appointment (seriously). Hoping to be done with dentist by 3:15 and sipping a cold one in the Orange lot by 4:00.
  23. I am told by a co-worker who attended the Tulsa game that the ticket booth is charging a service charge of $5 per purchase. Has anyone else heard this? If so, this is WRONG and just another means by which to drive away more potential fans. I can see someone walking up to the window to buy an $8 GA ticket and being asked for $13. I'd just laugh and walk away and never come back. Please tell me my co-worker somehow misunderstood.
  24. Now that's some optimism! I hope you're right, but I'm not counting on it. We haven't seen anything to suggest this offense is capable of putting up even 20 points on anyone, much less 45. I would be ecstatic if 15K showed up tonight. I'd consider anything over 12,000 to be a bonus, but I'm really thinking it'll be more in the 8-9K range. I'll be there.
