  1. I will have to listen on 100.7. Wife dragging me (kicking and screaming) to Tyler to help her mother. <_< SMACK UP THEM FROGS!
  2. Does TCU miss Billy Tubbs?
  3. I voted the middle one because it is pretty obvious that UNT has outgrown the SBC. A change to a better conference (C-USA?) might mean losing more but playing better competition. Gota get a baseball program and better football attendance.
  4. I was at the game tonight. Unfortunately, I had to sit next to a Lamar (Lam-er) "fan." He was all smiles and talking trash at first when UNT was getting all of the charging fouls against them and when Lam-er was ahead by 10. When UNT cought up before halftime and some of the charging fouls started to go against Lam-er, it was "home cookin'" referees. Yea, that's exactly what it was. There were no real problems with the refs tonight and the charge calls were consistant both sides all night. Only one charge call in the 2nd half because the teams figured out the the refs were calling it. The Lam-er fan was pretty much quite for the second half. Did Billy Tubbs get cought on a recruiting violation or something? I remember he was with TCU, then I thought he went to Oklahoma St. Then I see him on the bench for Lam-er. Talk about a fall from grace.
  5. Well my wife and I will make the Saturday game against Lamar. It isn't too often I get to go to the games but I will make this one.
  6. AS for me, I was more excited than a puppy with two peters. NO MORE HOXES!!!
  7. SWEET!!!! I may go to the game on 11-27. I get off work during the week at 7PM and the game starts at the same time. <_< Maybe I should change jobs.
  8. Even better Coach!!!!!
  9. Beads...is something original for us. Throwing tortillas, et al... I hate stealing "traditions" from other schools. Makes UNT look stupid. So many people are trying to "force" a tradition by stealing something from another school and see if it sticks. George Dunham didn't help with his radio call of the NT Defense as the "Green Curtain." Dumbest thing I ever heard. Good traditions don't start over night. Come up with something original. As for tearing down the goal posts, the one thing I want to aviod is a scene where riot police have to hold off the mob and kids get hurt. Talk about bad press!!!! How about this for a "new" tradition. After the game, students gather in mass near Fry Street at the English Building and "Celebrate Responsibily" without wanton destruction. Lets see that hit the news papers. I would rather not win any championship if it means burning and destroying part of the city or campus.
  10. I am excited about the SBC tournament at UNT at the end of the season. I really like basketball a lot and I hope to be able to attend most of the games. I also hope UNT has a good showing during the season and can make it into the tournament. That would blow if the host team is not in it. I doubt that will happen given some of the recruits JJ is looking at.
  11. Remember the satdium is over 50 years old (or close to it). There is no where to go when it rains. No umbrellas allowed, so you just get wet. I know weather is a poor excuse, but it does happen and the threat of foul weather does keep people away. The best way to get more attendance at the games is to 1) bring a friend...or 5. and 2) better advertisement in the city, on campus, and in the area. The campus should be covered. With the game on TV, the area is pretty well covered. I don't know how much the city gets involved. I know that there are some cities that paint the town for a college game. Denton also has 2 high schools, one competing for state. This is starting to ramble a bit. For all the posts here that complain about the lack of attendance, you are preaching to the choir. Keep advertising, keep talking, take a friend, the team will continue to do their part by winning. This message board is one of the best advertisements around. This board is more active than any other I have attended. I miss a few days and there is 4 pages of updated posts. Keep talking about the Mean Green. Things will turn around.
  12. DMN put the football area, state, and national top 100 recruits. NONE were listed going or even considering UNT. I looked pretty carefully. I might have missed one but I don't thing so.
  13. There are talks of Denton getting an anature team to compete in a local league. College kids playing in leagues all over the nation during the summer. The baseball field was to be built close to UNT. The idea was for UNT to also use the facility for varsity baseball. This will help UNT all around. UNT lost the chance to go to C-USA because of the lack of a varsity baseball probram. With a baseball program, maybe UNT can go to a bigger conference. Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer, and Baseball ALL benifit.
  14. I hate to be a downer, but the State of Texas basketball is very weak. The reality is that anyone who is any good at basketball does one of two things: Goes to UT or goes out of state. Texas is a football state. This is evident by the game last year UNT vs. Indiana. The kid from down the street (The Colony) went to IU! I love basketball. UNT used to be a really good basketball school (Joe Hamilton in the late 60, early 70s and the year UNT went to the NCAAs. I love UNT and the basketball team. Maybe some day UNT can have a winning Football AND Basketball program.
