I will be at the ASU game Saturday ... AND I am bringing 3 people with me (wife and parents). We'll hit the cheap seats though. Not that there is a bad seat there.
-
Bad news. I can't make tonight's game against UALR Good news. I will make Saturday's game against ASU. Got a section for this again?
-
I need to know that too. I finally get to put a face with all these screen names.
-
If I can get off work an hour early (I work till 7PM) I will be there.
-
I think FIU was 3.5 point favorites. That is a real good win.
-
At this rate, UALR (11-5), ASU (10-6), MTSU (12-5) & WKU (10-4) should all be considered for the NCAA (or at worst the NIT). Those are some good overall records for this time of the season. It could be an aboration though. If they didn't play anyone before conference started could be the only problem. All 4 are potential to be another 20 win "No NCAAs for you, get your butt to the NITs" situation.

I have high hopes.... THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS 2004-2005 NCAA MENS & WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
-
Russ is looking at XM after his contract runs out. I have missed the RMS because of my work schedule.
-
I hope some of the games are on local channels like the football games. ESPN+ on Channel 21 in the Dallas area.
-
Another good reason to go to Sirius Radio. W/in the next 2 years Howard Stern goes to Sirius too (for those of you who listen to him). So between SBC games, Stern, and NFL, Sirius is gaining ground on XM. Now if Russ Martin can go with Sirius, I will DEFINATELY buy a system.
-
I can do that.... in my dreams on my X Box if I were 12' tall with a booster trampoline the hoop set at 6' (I'm 6'7") with an NBA collector action figure set and toy rim standing on Yao Ming's shoulders

You also have to look at the timing of those good seasons. Last season was a "hickup." The 4 years before that are the ones I listed. Give her credit for recent sucess. I know the other seasons have been peeks and valleys. If she can't recover from last year, show her the door. However, if she turns things around and UNT WBB posts 17+ wins, why not keep her? What have you done for me lately? Except for last season, a string of 4 really good seasons. Plus, who you going to hire (outside of current assistants) in mid season?
-
That is provided either of those two coaches want to leave their respective posts. UTA and TAMU-CC are doing pretty well. Plus to get a good coach you have to be willing to put up some serious $$$. The fact Slinker is a good recruiter has made it possible for UNT to have past sucess. It wasn't that long ago UNT WBB had a good program with Slinker coaching, including 2 (almost 3) 20 win seasons. 1998-99 (20-8) 1999-00 (17-11) 2000-01 (19-11) 2001-02 (21-9) If you want to fire her for post season failures, then that fuels the arguement for all the posters who want Dicky gone (1-3 in bowl games) (and I am not a Dickey basher by any means). I would at least let this season run its course. 3 straight bad seasons is a bit much considering there were 4 really good years before. That's why I wouldn't make a good AD. I would either fire EVERYONE or fire NO ONE.
-
Keep in mind that the UNT women went to the NCAA Tournament (1), NIT (2), a conference title, all under her tenure. Last year was sad but the previous 3 plus years have been pretty productive. NCAA coaching (football and basketball) is such a "what have you done for me lately" job. Nebraska fired a football coach after one year of 9-3. N. Carolina fired a coach after a productive season, but not one on par with what UNC had done in the past. I am sure there are many other examples (Ty Willingham, ND) where a coach had winning seasons but the winning was not a prominant as in the past. So lets say we do fire Slinker. Who is out there to replace her and have as good a history as her?

Playin' CHA tonight. What is a MOC? That is the Chatanooga mascot. The image is a bird and a train. Go Mean Green!!!!
-
THAT'S RIGHT!!!!! I thought I had to work Thursday (I normally do) but I don't have to work. I CAN GET MY MEAN GREEN BASKETBALL FIX 12/30!!!!! WOOO HOOOO!!!!!
-
Against UALR. I guess I better make that one. Long time till I get another UNT BB fix.
-
I like Basketball more anyway, but I am also pretty excited about UNT BB. I hope to go to the tournament at the end of the season. Hope the women's team gets going also. Strangly enough, the women have been more sucessful in the past then the men. NCAA (1), NIT (2 or 3 times), conference champs. Women fell off last season, but it looks like they are on the way back up this year.
-
I really wanted to go to the game but couldn't. I saw UNT lost by 25. Not bad.
-
I MESSED UP!!!! I can't go to the games tonight. <_< My home computer has a bad BSOD. Hope the teams will survive without me being there. <_< UNT WOMEN BEAT THE COW SNOT OUTA THE HORNS! Don't forget. Flash the "F UT sign." Put your ring finger and thumb together. Basically, just like the hookem' horns sign but include the middle finger.
-
At the very worst, I see UT win by 20-25, probably less. UNT wormen's team has good talent. I don't see them getting blown out by more than that.
-
If I get my chores done, I plan on going to the Women's game against UT. I hope for a good showing by the women's team. UNT has been sucessfull the past few seasons, but they are going against a powerhouse. It may be a little rude, but everyone flash the F UT sign. Hold your ring finger with your thumb.
-
I agree with the positives. I also hopped NT could keep it w/in 20 points. Got several passes picked off in the first half. UT is quick and you can't lob a pass half way accross the court and not expect the defender to get there in time.

UT/UNT TV Tonight! MG vs Horns BB
gksmith replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
One thing that stood out for me was the same thing that stood out in the Lamar game: Ill timed passes. Like Lamar, Texas was quick to pickoff some passes in the first half. Wish NT could have held it a little closer to 20 or fewer points. NT BB WOMEN'S TEAM HOSTS UT WOMEN THURSDAY 12-16 AT THE PIT. I think I would like to go to that one. I think the game will be closer but the outcome will be the same. UT women are better then the men's team. NT woman's team is a little better than the men's team. -
My dad took me to basketball games in the old PIT (a long ass time ago). That place was LOUD. One thing the cheerleaders did in the PIT was take the megaphones and bang them on the floor when the other team had the ball. Got everyone claping with it. I would like to see the cheerleaders do that again...unless there is some rule against it. How different is that from the Duke (Puke) student body (and Michigan copy cats) jumping up and down yelling? (I hate Michigan, I hate the entire ACC, especially Puke and No Class N. Carolina)
