  1. I was looking through Texas Monthly. In the May issue under North Central Texas, Harrahs in Denton was listed. I looked at the June issue and it wasn't there. Huuummmmm....
  2. But look at that region of the country. University of Nebraska is as close to a "professional" team as they have.
  3. What are you doing for sleeping arrangments? I am very tempted to go... LSU people are already selling tickets on eBay.
  4. Just imagine what it would be like if Fouts really LOOKED like that.
  5. Texas Department of Transportation still shows the "old" license plates. TexDOT UNT license site
  6. I'm in. I hope this isn't too adicting. (kidding)
  7. I'm never gona make it. 68 days seems like an eternity!
  8. I think the penalty includes no non-conference games and no post-season play (I think conference tournament is included). If Baylor is not allowed to play non-conference games, that will put their schedule at less than 15, and with only conference play that will put them starting in January while everyone else starts play in October or November. That isn't the "SMU Football Death Penalty" but it is as close as you can get. Dave Bliss really delt Baylor Men's Basketball a very serious blow.
  9. I was never in a Frat so of course UNT. I like basketball too.
  10. Joe Hamilton. Definately Joe. He shot most of his shots from the top of the key where the 3 point line is now. If there was a 3 point line then, I think Joe would still hold some scoring records.
  11. If we are going ALL TIME, Joe Green DT.
  12. 2 of those will never be broken. 2.6 points/game will take a really good defense. I doubt any team at any level could do that today. 6 200 yard games by a Freshmen...freshmen usually get redshirted in the first year. Those that are good enough to play, it is hard for a senior RB Heisman Trophy candidate to get 200/gm all season.
  13. Don't feel bad UNTBowler. Looks like the BBC was had too. Is this story like the "GPS Panties?" Slash.com (or what ever the website is called) put out several stories about products to test how fast it would take for a "story" to make it to mainstream media.
  14. Hollywood ran out of ideas about 10 years ago. Why all the movies based on 1960's TV shows (and bad ones too)? Why all the remake of old movies? If Longest Yard blows, I will wait for it on TV or something. :puke
  15. Now if NT can just find that illusive 6'10"-7'+ center. Did we have one in the works recently?
  16. Those shirts are so coo...I might have to become part of the Pit Crew! Can you make them for the sock puppets too?
  17. I would go if I had the cash. Lint flies out of my pockets these days.
  18. Be nice to get Verwers and have someone resembling a center.
  19. Joe did wear #10. Played for a while with the Dallas Chapperals of the old ABA. I saw him play at Moody once and at The Pit against Utah (I think). Sold out at The Pit. Standing room only. They anounced his name first. He stood at half court for a 10 minute standing ovation. Greatness.
  20. NT on the floor is from the old Pit. That place ROCKED! Joe Hamilton was a GOD! If he had played today, all his shots would be for 3 and all counted and NO ONE would catch him in points. JOE HAMILTON – In just two seasons with the Eagles basketball team, Hamilton was a two-time all-Missouri Valley Conference pick who now stands as the school’s No. 11-ranked career scoring leader. He is ranked in North Texas’ top 10 in three single-season records. I think he is in that first photo (#22)
  21. I'll just make my point next year when the top 50 men AND women HS BB players are listed in the DMN. And maybe I need to compare Texas percentages with places like N. Carolina, New York, and California. Many of you seem to think Texas is a basketball haven and basketball runs a very close second to football...and it isn't and doesn't.
  22. Oh great.... 20% of the top 50. wow. 1 in 5. In school, making a 20 is failing miserably. Take away the Texas and Tech exceptions I mentioned and you get an even lower percentage. Put yourself in the position of a parent of a state top 50 BB player. You get scholorship offers from other Texas universities (except Texas and Tech) and you get offers from Kansas, Duke, UNC, Syracuse, UConn, and Arizona (for a woman, throw in Tennessee). Those are schools that are consistantly top 25 team, several national televised games each year, good shot at a national championship. Where do you think your son/daughter wants to go? The State of Texas has a long way to go before being declaired a "Basketball Meca." Women's programs are a lot closer then Men's programs.
  23. Eagle 96, I see one RANKED player in the state. Went to Baylor (one of my exceptions). Where did the other 49 top 50 in Texas go? SMUG, I seriously doubt all 9 of those teams will go to the NCAAs. I see Texas, Tech, and TCU (if they win CUSA, or at least get past Louisville) going and maybe one more, but I am not suprised if non of the others on that list go. And I doubt all 6 of the remaining teams make it to the NIT. College Basketball in the state of Texas still has a long way to go before a lot of Texas top 50 high school recruits start thinking of staying home for college.
  24. The truth is out there. My original post holds true. Look at the top 50 high school recruits (men and women) for the state and the local DFW area. How many went to Texas or Tech (or even Baylor)? How many went to ANY OTHER UNIVERSITY IN THE STATE? How may went to ACC, SEC, and Big East schools (hotbeds for basketball the last several seasons)? How many went to Big 10 or Pac 10? How many went to other Big 12 schools outside of the state (like Kansas)? I get disgusted at how many Texas HS players flee the state for better BB parts of the country. The truth is that basketball is second rate (if not third to baseball) in the state of Texas. And that is sad. I happen to LOVE basketball...more than football.
  25. Truth hurts. I made my point. All Majors. The only 2 Texas teams you listed are the only ones that can recruit well in basketball and football (for UT, include baseball). Correct. All mid-majors, only one from Texas and not a school that gets national attention week in and week out in football, basketball or baseball. NT fights a big uphill battle in recruiting in football and (more so) basketball. Football recruiting has improved a lot over the last several years. NT was lucky to recruit in the DFW area only. Dickey has been able to expand it to state wide and include JUCO recruits from surrounding states. Basketball recruiting in Texas is much harder. A top flight BB recruit will look at primere out of state schools to play on TV, expand their game, play for an National Championship, and if good enough, make it to the next level. Maybe Baylor Women are better than I thought. Overall, still a #3 behind Texas and Tech.
