  1. A 3-7 team beating a 4-5 team in a no name conference...might get a mention. No highlights though (expecially since no TV coverage that I know of).
  2. Gut feeling. After I posted this I think I saw a thread that said there would be no committee. I hope that is right. This does not need to be dragged out past Christmas.
  3. This is why football players should stay out of the recording studio.
  4. I WISH the decision was already made. They are going to create a comittee and drag this out till sometime near spring or summer.
  5. Joe has been out of coaching for a while. I don't think he would consider it. I would be more excited then a puppy with two.... Well I would be real happy if Joe wanted to do it.
  6. ARE YOU CRAZY! George is why I even listen to the games on the radio. Plus George is rather personable. I sent a long and drawn out email to him after the FIU game. Anyone else would have dumped it after seeing how long it is (these guys are busy with show prep and do not have time to read anything longer then about 2 lines). George sent back an email with his points. It showed he took time to read my rambling and long email and composed a reply. If George had football coaching experience, I would say hire him as HC.
  7. Fans have short memories... tu fans will see the sucess Dodge has at SLC and will be extatic to have him as a coach.
  8. Dito. We are not that far removed from the first bowl game in 40 years, 4 straight bowl games, and a moment in the sun...of sorts. While the last 2 seasons have been brutal for DD, he also brought this program to the spotlight for a few years. He moved NT up the food chain a bit. UNT is not part of the BCS conference. We never had a shot at a National Championship even if we were to go undefeated. Any expectations higher then what we got over the last 6 years was wishful thinking. What I hope for in a new head coach is to further move NT up that food chain, maybe to a better conference (or bring more respect to this one), to more bowl options, and a little more time in the national spotlight.
  9. Don't expect Dodge to come running to NT. He has a pretty sweet deal at SLC and has ties to Texas. If for some reason tu is looking for a new coach, Dodge would run like the wind to that.
  10. We are what we are. Right now this is a mediocre team in a mediocre and unrespected conference. What to aspire to??? In the short term: a recognized team. In the long term: a respected team in a respected conference. Make it to the top 50 in football. The best we have done even in our recent best years is top 75.
  11. Dito. I hate to see Dickey go but I hate to see the program in decline.
  12. Not sure I agree with a committee. Too many people trying to come to one conclusion. Takes too long. This does not need to be a long and drawn out process. This needs to be done before the end of this calendar year. A committee would take till spring football to decide on a coach. It would mean putting RV on the spot and personally responsible for the next coach.
  13. NCAA might not look too kindly on that. I would hope ultimately it will be up to the new coach to decide who stays and who goes. Plus if Dickey gets a new HC gig somewhere, I am sure he would want his staff with him. I hope the new HC selection does not take too long....
  14. Sorry...I have composed myself...(giggle). A-hem.... Dito.
  15. As much as Dickey gets bashed on this board, I think that jesture would be very nice. DD has earned some measure of honor and respect for his work at NT to put us in the first bowl game in 40 years and 4 straight bowls.
  16. While the last 2 seasons have been unkind, remember that we are not that far from Dickey putting NT in 4 bowl games. Good luck DD and I know you will land on your feet somewhere.
  17. Senior Day to send off Johnny "The Mighty" Quinn...I would have to be dead or dying in a ditch somewhere to miss that game. I will be there for sure!
  18. I would rather see more recruiting further out then this area. We have seen in the past what a "DFW area" NT team can do (which was not much). Recruiting needs to extend past DFW to more of the whole state, the 5 state region and even some nationally. We still won't have much of a chance to get the "top 100," but maybe have a better chance at the next 100 or so.
  19. Yea, but it doesn't hurt to go big in the middle.
  20. Wish I could make it. Good luck Lady Eagles!!!
  21. But this is still pretty impressive and is good press for the soccer team. Congrats on a good season. They deserved better then what they got from the NCAAs.
  22. Quick update: The circumstances around Pata's death were not immediately clear, and Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened. A formal announcement was expected from the university later Tuesday. "Right now, we're just gathering ourselves and just trying to pull ourselves together," Miami athletic director Paul Dee said. Pata, a graduate of Miami Central, was in his fourth year with the Hurricanes. He appeared in 41 games, making 23 starts, and was expected to be selected in next spring's NFL draft. It was at least the fourth time that tragedy involving a player has struck the Hurricanes in recent years. In April 1996, reserve linebacker and Miami native Marlin Barnes was murdered in a campus apartment. And in 2003, former Miami safety Al Blades was killed in a car accident, about a year after former Miami linebacker Chris Campbell — who had just completed his eligibility with the Hurricanes — also died in a crash. Pata's death was the second incident involving guns this season for the Hurricanes. In July, reserve safety Willie Cooper was shot in the buttocks when confronted in his yard before an early morning workout. Cooper was not seriously injured. Brandon Meriweather, one of Cooper's teammates and roommates, returned fire at Cooper's assailant, taking three shots that apparently missed, police said. Several Miami players, including Pata, said that incident was a robbery attempt, and cautioned other teammates to always be aware of their surroundings. "We're targets because we play for the University of Miami. ... These guys, they know who we are," Miami linebacker Jon Beason said shortly after the Cooper shooting. That incident prompted Miami coach Larry Coker to say that he did not want his players to have guns, even if they were possessing them legally.
  23. What in the Wide World of Sports is going on???? Miami football player shot, killed Associated Press Posted: 35 minutes ago University of Miami defensive end Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after leaving the practice field, according to a university official with knowledge of the situation. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because a formal announcement still was being prepared by the university, had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Pata's death. Miami-Dade police refused to release specific information about what happened.
  24. Man does that sound familier. Pray for the La Tech MBB team.
  25. Might have to resort to the tacky Miller Beer "Man Law" sign for OFF FENCE. How about a sign with a picture of a "head" and another with a picture of a "coach?" I'm goin' to hell for that one.
