  1. I was about to say... Pulling a rabbit out of a hat is a "trick." What do you call curing disease like leprosy? What do you call feeding 10,000 people on 2 loaves of bread and 5 fish? What do you call walking on water in the storm? What do you call raising the dead as well as rising FROM the dead?
  2. On weekdays I catch a Washington D.C radio station on the internet. There is a 30 second "commercial" entitled "Not a Sermon...Just a Thought." The one they were running this week has to do with the Discovery Channel documentary about finding bones that are believed to be of Joseph, Mary and Jesus. The premise goes a little something like this: If those are the bones of Jesus, why didn’t the Romans present them in the first century to destroy Christianity at the start? Why didn’t the Jews do the same for the same reason? These are not the bones of Jesus because Christians know he rose from the dead. Not a Sermon…Just a Thought.
  3. but on the reverse view under the school chrest it looks like an "85?" or the "1" under the globe is up side down and is actually a "19" and under the chrest is "58". Just a thought.
  4. I thought they pushed the Income Tax Filing Day to April 17 since th 15th is on Sunday. I meet with my "tax guy" on the 11th anyway.
  5. I saw in Sports Illustrated that Nolan Richardson from El Paso was hired to coach the Mexico basketball team to try to get them qualified for the Olympics. Too many coaches to choose from. Bear Bryant, Bobby Knight, Connie Mack (the only MLB baseball manager on the list), Vince Lombardi, and Knute Rockne. Being a big basketball fan, Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar fan and John Wooden fan…I voted for the Wizard of Westwood. Woody Hayes, Tommy Lasorda, Sparky Anderson, Casey Stengel, Joe Torre, Earl Weaver, Bobby Cox…just throwing out some additional (baseball except for Woody) names.
  6. "We are here at the Lake Lewisville beach searching for the very rare and illusive Green Grenade II. He is said to inhabit these shores, many bars in the area, and it's natural habitat just north of here - The University of North Texas campus. Specifically, an open area called Fouts Field and another called The Super Pit. Hoepfully our searches have not been invane. It is also rumored he will show up at a 'sandlot sporting event' later this month. Of course the rumors that when he shows up to this event and 'sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of Winter' are completely false." I didn't get to use the picture of Eric Idle I wanted. It was an asp picture. It was him as a reporter from the original Monty Python series.
  7. That is what I was looking for too. There is no year on any pictures or the description. It has been a while since NT was North Texas State College. The interlocking NT was not that odd back then. Look at my signature below. The rounded interlocking NT was on the helmets in the late 1960's. Not sure why the current administration refuses to go back to that.
  8. Or empty seats. Notice the lower part is RED seats.
  9. Fun time. I can't go but it is a really good time. Bundle up...it gets a little cold in those windy top of the stadium seats. Worth it to just buy bleacher seats in the outfield.
  10. (In a nerdy voice) I am down with the boys in the hood. He looks like he is giving some sort of gang hand symbols. Or using a porn symbol. Use your imagination. Has to do with a woman's anatomy. I have such a dirty mind.
  11. The ice age is starting. Snow in Lewisville...very few flakes here and there. Had to pay attention to see it. In-laws in Tyler and Palistine got enough to accumulate.
  12. White...the new black.
  13. And for the record...there used to be rail service from Denton to Dallas at the turn of the century (the PREVIOUS century). Oh how we could use rail service between the two cities now.
  14. So is White the new Black? I guess Dodge is making NT look as "Southlake Carroll" as possible. It it works...he is a genius. If it fails...he is still a genius.
  15. Eddie Robinson was an oddity too. Here is a guy who plays football for what would be Grambling State, graduates and his first job as a head coach for the school he just graduated from, and never held another job...EVER! No need for a resume for Eddie. Some facts I heard on ESPN: Coached over 100 kids who went on to the NFL. (I think) 6 of his players went on to the football Hall of Fame. 80% graduation rate (that is the most impressive stat). His longevity, his players in the NFL and HOF, and his graduation rate over the years are a testimate to how great Eddie Robinson was.
  16. I would hope that people in this area would embrace using mass transit. So long as the trains run late enough for people to get to and from the game before closing I think that would be a great asset to NT, Denton, and the area. I lived in Washington D.C. The red line I road from Bethesda to down town was great. The north end of the red line (at the time I was there)Shady Grove to down town D.C. is about the same distance from Denton to down town Dallas.
  17. First time ever a school has won Football and Basketball in the same academic year...at least in D1.
  18. Florida was 4.5 point favorites on game day. What you look for is the upset the way Florida did against OSU in football. Not looking good for OSU at the start of the 2nd half.
  19. The first that pops into my head is Babe Ruth. But the true "non-Steroid" home run king is Henry Aaron. Watched TV the night he hit #715. Not a big Henry fan and definately not an Atlanta Brave fan (yuck!) but it was a great moment in sports. Barry Bonds can go flush himself. Roger Maris was a class act and the single season "non-Steroid" home run king. Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa were all juiced when they did thiers. If Ryan Howard of the Phillies hits 62 in the next few seasons, then he becomes the new single season "non-Steroid" home run king. (oh, and I dont like the Phillies either...YUCK!)
  20. Did game time get changed? Still scheduled for April 28?
  21. Now THAT is a non-conference schedule. I predict that will be the best “strength of schedule” in the conference. Talk about playing your “body bag” (paycheck, etc) games They will get crushed in all 5 games...but it is an impressive schedule. I predict 0-5 in their OOC games.
  22. Two things that can be enacted to prevent a route like that: 1. Run rule. See it a lot in rec ball. I think in Texas 6-man high school football there is a score limit. 2. Coach can pull his starters after it is like 10-0 or something like that. One drawback to that: you really don't want to tell your players to "not score." Addressed this in the article about the football team wining by 50+ in high school.
  23. The pictures to the right of the helmet at the bottom of his signature are the "Dancing Badgers" which is a silly musical cartoon that loops continuously. That one is in ASCII. The Original Dancing Badgers: http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/badgers/ Soccer Dancing Badgers: http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/footy/ The Soccer Dancing Badgers came out about 5-6 years ago for England in the Euro Cup. Notice it keeps score. I know someone who ran the cartoon continuously. The music falls out of sync but keeps going. England scores about 300 goals. Pretty funny.
