  1. I chose San Antonio in 6. But what do I know. I chose Detroit before. And Dallas before that.
  2. New Orleans faired well too. Congrats to both teams.
  3. WHAT IS GOING ON AT SMU? This makes 6 students (I think I heard that on the radio) in 5 months.
  4. I would think you would get bigger bang for your buck with radio spots. Put commercials on ESPN, Ticket, KRLD, WBAP. Maybe even put TV spots on the local channels.
  5. Tavern is good. Expand out a little more and go to Lewisville. Hooters, Fox and Hound (saw NT in basketball there). If my lottery tickets ever come through I would like to open a good sized bar for big screen sports, darts, pool, shuffle board. Kind of like the old Prarie Street Pub but a lot bigger with more pool tables and more shuffle boards and a LOT more TVs.
  6. Looks like he is changing his mind about the leap to the NBA. With or without Donovan, don't expect Florida to have the power house team like the last 2 or 3. Florida is losing 6 players from the current squad. That is half the team. Florida will still have a winning record (probably) and probably get an at large bid into the NCAAs. Look for an early exit though. Now 2008-09 season...we'll see. Probably will be back in full by then. But 2007-08 I would not put a lot of stock in Florida.
  7. I think that they named it for Gerald Ford...and not the Ford Moter Company. Till I see actual credible documantation on this story...I have to call BS. That sounds pretty hokey. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, I just don't think it did.
  8. There are 11 D1A football conferences. How hard is it to take those 11 champions plus some at large bids and put together a tournament? Seed the teams and play the tournament. Make it 16 teams, 20 teams, even 24 or 32 teams if necessary. How much different is it for fans to travel to road games for a team as it would be to go to tournament games? Greed from the BCS college presidents are ruining D1A football.
  9. Hope the move works out for WKU. It is good to have a basketball rival on the football field too.
  10. Losing 5 players on your current roster to graduation or NBA draft would make just about anyone run away.
  11. ...when I actually listen to sports talk. Ticket has too much shtick and ESPN is a little boring.
  12. Losing 5 players off your championship roster would make just about anyone run away.
  13. They have been saying that for 50 years or more. Boxing goes through it's fazes where it is sickley like now and then someone comes in to energize the sport.
  14. Just saw the tape of the play. Didn't look that bad but I guess it was.
  15. I have not witnessed dog fighting, but a guy at work says he has seen it and while it is "exciting" at first...it gets pretty gruesome and disgusting real fast. And for someone who is an animal lover (get your mind out of the gutter ) I can not imagine someone raising a dog to kill other dogs. If Mike Vick is doing this I hope they throw him out of the league, throw him in jail, and generally be labeled as a bane on society in general.
  16. Prices dropped a little recently. Maybe 5 cents. Seeing a lot more <$3/gal around Lewisville. Still some gougers out there thought.
  17. Girl for Arizona did that in the first inning of the game against CSF Saturday. Probably has a broken nose too. Haven't seen Freel's highlight. Sounds like if Griffy did that...he would be out for the season. I am not knocking Griffy...he just seems to be a little fragile at times and has huge stays on the DL. But that is another thread.
  18. Fire Fightin’ Rick Zeke Emmitt01 Harry Oh wait...I guess this should be people who played FOOTBALL for NT.... nevermind.
  19. A lot of rivalries stem from conference play…though there are a few that are from non-conference. Long before tu and ou were in the big 12 south, they were SWC/Big 8. If SMU/TCU/UTA et al had the guts to play us on a consistent basis. Or maybe JJ needs to start scheduling those teams in November/December. Get the home – and – home agreement long term. Those are local teams that we don’t have to travel too far to see. Better then traveling to Murfreesboro.
  20. I would say it fits in with the football. Middle Tennessee has been a rival in football and I would expect that to carry over to basketball.
  21. Two things I heard recently that I think may help in the gas prices in the future (I am holding my breath...). 1. There are some of the refineries that are shutdown right now for maintenance. So the supply is (somewhat) lower. Just in time for Memorial Day (dumbasses...could have done this a LOT earlier). The refineries will be back up sometime soon after the yearly Memorial Day Gouging. (BTW...find this a little hard to believe) 2. With the mergers of the major companies (Exxon/Mobil, Texaco/Shell, et al) there are fewer choices when it comes to buying gas. The government is looking at forcing a breakup (much like AT&T in the 80s) of these companies to further competition. (I believe in this one slightly more then the one above about the "refinery maintenance) Till the prices come down again, I guess I am going to buy less of other things to pay for the gas.
  22. Portland Trail Blazers are on the clock.
  23. I hate to go against the San Antonio...but Detroit has the best team left.
  24. E. Texas and Tyler is generally cheaper then in the Dallas area. Today when I left there it was $3.02. In Dallas I saw some places at $2.95!
  25. Too far back. Plus look for Texas to deal Texeria before the end of the season. He is FA at the end of the year, Tex's agent Scott Boras (snake) does not negotiate in the middle of the season, and the Rangers really don't need to pull a "Washington Nationals" from last year.
