  1. We can directly tweet from this forum. I joined Twitter last year. The real trick is to get more Followers then those you are following. Hard to do unless you are famous...or don't follow anyone. Plus it is another site for Porn to attract you. I would get these emails saying "[person's name] is following you" and it would be some young hot chick looking for a suger daddy or a baby daddy or advertise the topless bar where she "works." You check for that account and it has already been disabled. Lewis Black said something to the effect of What kind of egomaniac thinks the world is interested in every second of your life? (wish I could find the exact quote) Facebook is just as bad.
  2. I heard about this rule on the Ticket the other day. If a player wants to transfer, the school can grant him the transfer but can also state which schools he can't transfer to. I think the example used was a player at Wisconsin. He wants to transfer and he got a list of schools he cannot transfer to: All of the Big 10, Iowa State, all of the ACC and a few others I can not remember right off. Plus the player has to sit for a season after transfer. However, if a coach resigns there is no such restriction. The coach can go to any program who is willing to pay the money. Kind of a double standard.
  3. Players know the consequences of transferring to another school. They have to weigh the options: Stay here and keep playing or go to another school and sit for a year. I am not singling out any one player or players in this or any other program but when a high school kid gets recruited, the college coach becomes a “father figure” for them. That coach leaves and the player feels the loss. You hear about this in all sports, both sexes, and at all levels. When a coach resigns this is a concern but the AD and the remaining staff have to deal with it when it. MeanMag: not sure what misspelling "cologne" on twitter has to do with this but....that is what the link went to for me. Colon: Anatomy . the part of the large intestine extending from the cecum to the rectum. Cologne: a perfumed liquid or solid made of fragrant essential oils and alcohol.
  4. Petrino did not make friends in the NFL when he snuck out of Atlanta. Don't expect anyone from the NFL to offer him a job...even if it is the temporary New Orleans job. Serious ethics lapse...not sure any major football program would want him either. I could be wrong. There is always someone out there that will look past a lapse in judgment and give him a chance.
  5. If this is off the point...sorry. This is why Politicians should stick to politics and (more importantly) Entertainers (actors, athletes, et al) stick to entertaining. There are too many entertainers to list who speak their mind on politics and sound absolutely stupid. Even if some common schmo (like you or me) say the same thing it may sound stupid, but it won’t make national news because we are not celebrities. Stick to what you know.
  6. "...over the weekend his daughter, Bella, was hospitalized for the second time this campaign due to complications from a rare genetic disorder." Unfortunate he has to drop out bacause of this. "Republican leaders in recent weeks have been slowly coalescing around Romney, calling for an end to an increasingly arduous campaign that some say threatens the party’s chances in November." I think Jon Stewart said it best: "We have voted enough already...."
  7. Both Men's and Women's coaches violated the rules. Will this mean the Women will have to vacate their national championship? A major accomplishment and it gets an asterisk.
  8. GPS....Bah!!!!! Anyone ever go old school and use a thing called a "map?" After you plan your route you just have to read the road signs to make sure you go the right way. They have this map thing online too. You type in your starting point and destination and it gives you turn by turn directions. Still have to follow the directions. Digital - "garbage in - garbage out." Sometimes its better to go analog.
  9. I heard Denton got nothing...while Lewisville (where I live) got 4 inches. That is a huge difference between 10-15 miles.
  10. I agree with that. I just hope all of the HEAD coaches out there feel the same.
  11. All of this is just a little too premature...by about 10 months. The only thing this article is good for is to compare it to what really happens and see how far off the "experts" are. I did that compairing Sports Illustrated projections to what really happens...when I had an SI subscription.
  12. Had some bad weather southern Denton County to southern Dallas County. At work in Frisco we had a warning. Evacuated to the downstairs hallway/bathrooms/stairwells. We have a new hire from California at my company and she was experiencing this just a couple of weeks into the job. She was freaking out. Welcome to Texas. I would probably do the same about earthquakes if I were in California...or Japan.
  13. Congrats to Coach Aston. All things aside, this is a great move for her and an opportunity that does not come along often. This is a move from a mid-major to a BCS/Major program. I wish her well. I wish she would stay because she did such a great job turning around the UNT WBB program. I hope she can do the same at UT...just not against UNT. I hope the UNT Athletic Department will find a coach that will continue the progress Aston started.
  14. Someone went a little farther then The Helmet Project http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/index.htm
  15. Washington Post...pretty reliable sourcce. This does not bode well for NT.
  16. Two threads on this story and the links are to a sketchy mobile link and a message board. A more reliable source: http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7753959/texas-interviews-north-texas-karen-aston Still hope she stays but understand if she doesn't.
  17. The possibility of Aston being one and done at NT... I guess that is a testament to the job she did here. She turned the woman’s program around here and I am very thankful for that. But… “You can’t leave! All the plants will die.” (quote from the movie Stripes when Bill Murray’s girl friend is leaving)
  18. Don't gig him just because the link is for 2011.
  19. Get some tips from the professionals. ("Professionals" meaning people who do this for a living and highly regarded in their field and not people who get paid to do this....you know what I mean)
  20. 105 ranking. That is one man's opinion. I have seen polls where the Nebraska helmet is one of the top ranked. You want to go boring, look up Penn State (plane white with a navy stripe) or Alabama (crimson with a white stripe and number). I have seen polls where those are top ranked as well. If we do make a change, I can see putting the new eagle logo on there. I think I would rather see the helmet the way it is (green w/white North Texas) but add the eagle logo helmet stickers. Too much?
  21. Pre-season NIT... Not Hawaii (Maui Classic) but better then the ones we have been to in the past.
  22. Just my opinion... LSU fans are just rude and intolerable. I have heard it from more than one person that LSU fans suck beyond the norm. The players play dirty (maybe they don’t do that to OOC teams but they do for SEC teams). I heard about a play that was over. Before the pile gets unpiled, there is an LSU player slugging a opposing player in the pile. Close up on TV. Flag by the refs….no. Obvious and blatant personal foul goes uncalled. You can probably find a lot of this on You Tube. Happens on more than one occasion. Before anyone bashes me for lack of proof I will add the You Tube links as soon as I can.
  23. Is there a link to that admission? That is differenet news than what has been reported the last few weeks. From what I have heard, Zimmerman basically "stalked" the kid. Didn't Zimmerman continue following him after a 911 operator told him to stop? Maybe I don't understand enough about the Florida "Stand Your Ground" law but this sounds like cold blooded murder.
  24. If I get that new job I am looking for I might be in the market to buy season tickets. Would I contact the ticket office or someone else?
  25. So where is this game played, is it on TV? This Friday...as in March 30th?
