On the one hand I feel sorry for the Walmart workers. So many of them rely on social services in addition to working. On the other hand, this is a typical minimum wage job. Being a stocker or cashier for any grocery or store chain is not a career. It is the same as working as a cook at McDonalds. It is a job for high school and college kids to get by till they get a real job after graduation. Unless you are management or pharmacy, grocery store work is not a career.

Just to point out...Obamacare is not the origin of cutting hours to avoid paying benefits. Companies have been doing that for decades because of the high cost of healthcare. I’m not going to get into the politics of it. Just stating a fact that cutting hours to avoid benefits is nothing new.

There was a kid on the other team that scored 70...and only a mention in passing by ESPN.

If you go back one more week that is 3 upsets (atm beat Alab). I like Alabama but I find it hard to see them back in the national championship game picture so soon.

Wasn't the reason MTSU was not invited to CUSA because they are in the same geographic area as Vandy and Tenn.? Too much competition for audience? If NT has a rival now THAT is the team.

God I hope not. That is a big "if" on ND losing but even if they do I pray that it will not be a Georgia/Alabama national championship game.

Big East is on shacky ground. The BCS (Big 6) Conferences are looking to shrink to 4 with 16 teams each. SEC got there this year and Big 10 looking to get there next year. Strangely enough, there are 3 conferences that are "unstable" - Big East, Big 12 (almost broke up last year), and ACC (lost Maryland to Big 10). All of this going toward a BCS playoff system leaving out everyone not in one of those Big 6 conferences.

Great post. Make sure your son gets a degree. I know everone wants to play professional but the chances get smaller the higher up they go. Not raining on his accomplishments...just always good to have a backup plan.

With the Big 10(12) adding two more teams next year (14) to follow the SEC 14 teams and looking for more, this could very much be the direction the BCS is going. The Big 6 conferences that make up the BCS can very much make this happen in the next few years. Than there is the "have nots" aka everyone else in D 1 FBS who will be shut out of the playoff system. Might as well make the Big 6 conferences their own division (BCS division) and everyone else in D 1 FBS a division with its own playoff system. And look for the Big 6 to become the Big 4. The Big 6 are: SEC ACC Big East (though on shifting ground) Big 10 (wasn't there a rumor they were going to change the name to The Big Conference?) Big 12 (though they only have 9 or 10 teams) Pac 12

Don't everyone poop on the black uniforms. They look like a play on the Baskeball "Tuxedo" black uniforms. The basketball unis and the black ones here are not the Dickey's final game black and white uniforms.

I would love to have a big rival (ala UT - OU, UT - ATM - though dead now, Alab - Aub. OSU - Mich, ND - USC) but rivalries like that are created over decades. NT needs to find a school to be linked with long term and make that type of rivalry. Either Football or Basketball (UNC - Duke).

Chaminade may be D II but they are a really good D II school. Come tournament selection times that is a game that will be marked as a notable loss for Texas.

These are the kind of teams NT needs to beat to make a good showing come tournament selection time. I'm not ready to start bashing Benford but I am close and I think there are a lot of others here who feel the same.

Maybe it has been that long since I was at a game but who were the people in the section next to the band? The student section is the three sections next to the visitor's bench. The band is to the left of the tunnel. Then there is a group to the left of them. Who are they? Next time I want to sit with them.

I was at the game Friday. I am not a professional commentator or paid to follow sports but here is what I saw during the game: Good points: NT played really good defense. They held Cameron to 20 points in the first half. Cameron did not SCORE till almost 7 or 8 minutes into the second half. They did not hit a FG till almost 10 minutes in. You can say Cameron scored 29 in the second half...most of that in the last 10 minutes...almost all of that against the end of the NT bench. I didn't look at the box score yet but it did not look like NT missed that many free throws. Cameron did foul a lot! A lot of times in the second half someone got fouled shooting, making the FG and completing the 3 point play. One one play an NT player hit the FG, missed the FT but Mitchell got the rebound and made it a 4 point play. Bad points: It appeared NT gave up a lot of offensive rebounds to Cameron early in the game and early in the second half. NT was not getting that many offensive rebounds. There was one exchange in the second half where NT got 3 or 4 shots and eventually got the basket. NT was bad on 3 point shots. They did not hit many and they were throwing up a lot of them in the second half when the game was out of hand. Cameron got a lot of points off of 3s towards the end. Chalk it up to excitment of being able to play or not thinking...towards the end of the game, my thoughts are to shorten the game. Run down the shot clock to end the game sooner. NT was not doing that. There were shots going up with over 20 seconds on the shot clock. Granted that was the end of the bench playing at that time and they don't get to play that much.

Going to the game tonight. Who else?

That's the thing about politics and election season. After being beat down for a year and a half it is a relief for it to finally be over. Then we get back to life...like football, basketball, baseball, et al.
