Nate Grimm transferring to North Texas

Whoever wins the job. -
The Women's and Men's games overlap and there is no broadcast partner for the Women's games so they use 88.1 and the Men are broadcast on the partner station.

For someone who spends a lot of time on an internet message board talking about entertainment (what sports actually is), you sure aren't fond of entertainment.- 44 replies

With a difference of 9 ppg average, 12.5 does seem on the high side.

MGB: Breaking news -- UNT's Chris Jones to transfer
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I sure do. -
You know good and well that we are talking about one specific event here. You accuse others of having an agenda, but by constantly bringing this kind of stuff into a specific discussion, you show your own. I don't know how anyone could miss that you want RV fired, but you certainly don't leave any room for ambiguity.

You really are the best at taking one conversation and trying to project into every other. -
You definitely live in a different world of accountability. I don't hold someone accountable until they have actually failed, not when I think that they may have failed without giving them a chance to finish the job.
-
Sometimes giving a player a redshirt season gives them a chance to develop and learn how the college game is different and faster. Sometimes it is about planning for the program in the future and having them contribute when they are more prepared. Other times, it may be about getting them a chance to get used to college life and get a good academic footing. It is almost always about giving the player a better chance for success. Just because we had a bad year doesn't mean that any of these guys would have been able to actually make enough difference to improve the wins and losses. Maybe they would have made a couple of games closer, but not change the outcome. Then it was a wasted season for that player and one less year of eligibility. I am just not willing to write off half of a class because the staff decided to give them an extra year for any number of reasons that we are completely unaware of.
-
No, you live in a simple world where a scheduling fairy grants P5 home and home against a team you approve of wishes. Just because we want them to come here doesn't mean they will agree. I said you are free to blame RV for the 5 home game schedule, but saying that he was lying about working on it without proof is a much weightier accusation. I will always give our AD a chance to fix something. He didn't, and that is where accountability begins. You just live in a world of different denial, not less.
-
Would we? If a freshman came in and needed a year to learn the playbook, get bigger, or whatever else, they could still help next season. They may have also sat behind a senior that was better. Another year of coaching could make them better. Not sure how you can discount that many players because they got a redshirt season.
-
Sure, those are the only two options. You live in a much simpler world than I do.

Brett Vito Heisman winner Jameis Winston made an appearance at UNT
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Did he stand up on the scorer's table and yell any obscenities? -
You are assuming he knew at that point it was not going to happen. He may have had a conversation earlier that day that gave him hope. If memory serves, that was two plus years ago and there were still a lot of changes that could have happened. You just don't know what was going on at that time to say what his frame of mind was at the time. All you are doing is speculating. I would think that you, of all people, would want to know all of the facts before passing judgement.
-
Sure thing, I'm sure that you never said that he lied about anything. Hmm, seems like here you are saying that he lied about working on making a change. To call what you attributed to RV a lie would be to say that he was not working on addressing the schedule and/or that 6 home games is not a goal for him. He never said that we would definitely have 6 home games nor did he say that it would be an easy job. I guess, by your definition, he lied by omission by not specifically stating that it would be a difficult job. But, if he had said that, you would be railing on him for making excuses, which would be just as tiring on the board as the conversation we are having, so everyone loses either way.
-
OK so saying we have 5-6 left to give
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Is this an ideal world question? It would really depend on who is available. I would try to get guys who will contribute, but not reach on someone just to fill a position. -
UAB going to re-evaluate dropping football.
forevereagle replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
But if they are "investigating" returning the program, they can try to use that as a bargaining chip to stay in for one more season, giving them time to find a new home while actually investigating nothing. -

I agree, unlikely that the other schools want to keep them around and a football only school is not going to happen. I think the extra year is what they are looking for. -

Part of conference membership is that you must field a football team. Banowsky has expressed a desire to keep them, but the schools have not agreed with that. That was the word on the street not long after the announcement.
