New Star Wars VII Trailer
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It would appear that you haven't heard, but they renamed the previous novels to "legends" and are going with a new direction. It gives the film makers more freedom to create a new story instead of fitting in with what already exists. It's from Interstellar. -

It could be low when compared with all of FBS, but you have no way to actually know that. I would guess that it is comparable to other teams in our situation, bad season with a lot of options at QB. I don't really see how you can conclude that the opinions of fans is any indication of the situation. I really don't think that a coach should use the opinions of fans to determine the starter at any position.

Soccer Thread
forevereagle replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I have to agree. I am not a big soccer fan, but I went to an FC Dallas game and was impressed with the atmosphere there. It was a lot of fun even if it is not a sport I follow. -
In football you have 85 scholarship players and 105 total, more than enough to shoulder the load of some transfers coming in. Basketball has far fewer scholarship and roster spots. 2-3 transfers in a single year is 20% of your roster. Once you only have 9-10 players available you have a larger load on those players and increase the risk of injury. I don't necessarily think that writing off the coming season is wrong given the state of the program right now, but to do so at the cost of the health of our current players is not something I am in favor of.
-
Even so, is it fair to the current players to throw them out there for a season of playing more minutes than they need to, risking injury and just getting beat up, just so we can get several transfers in that may or may not actually make the team better? I am ok with getting a transfer or two in, but we shouldn't be filling the roster out with transfers at the cost of our currently available players.
-
I don't know that we should trying to get too many transfers. Short of divine intervention, they will not be eligible to play next season, so getting too many transfers would not leave many spots for active players. Just my opinion, but you can't fill your roster with these types of recruits. It is just too much strain on the active players.

I see the concern, but given the historic injury rate from last season and the first wave of injuries we have already seen, I do kind of understand his view on player durability. -

That should be really easy to do. We should bring 10-20x what they brought as a starting point.

It might even make attendance for this game better since people do come back for HC. It could also lead those who don't normally come to games to attend more games since they had fun at a big win. Nah, the whole thing sucks and the season is already lost.

Football's Value to a University

Awesome. -
I agree with them, they weren't a great football program prior to blowing it up and a recovery period will not help that. I just don't see enough value even with a win in the tournament.
