Confirmed: Graham Harrell to UNT

You going to argue for the fern? -
That is probably an overly simplistic way of looking at what makes each defense bad. I would consider a delta of points scored over each team's average that we allowed to be a better indicator. Basically, how much better did each offense perform against our defense when compared to their norm. It also doesn't take into consideration any other metrics or consider opponent quality, which was lower through the Dodge years than this past one. Same as above. We played a really tough schedule this year. The 07 team didn't play as tough a slate (despite some very similar qualities as this year's schedule: 5 home games and two P5s) because the conference was not as good as what we played this year and our offense was a lot more competent at moving the ball, while not necessarily at scoring, and giving the defense less time to defend. Either way, there is a lot more than a couple of statistical elements to consider in the whole thing. I am going a lot off of my memory of the defense in 07, and we didn't do anything besides sit in the base defense with corners 10 yards off without ever blitzing and never making an adjustment. If it wasn't statistically the worst, it was certainly the most frustrating to watch. I think we can all agree, our defense has seen far too many lean years in the recent past.

Our defense was not good, but hardly the worst ever. I believe Mendoza gets that honor.

Jamize Olawale gets three yr contract extension with Oakland
forevereagle replied to cjones's topic in Mean Green Football
Agreed, but the guy spends a lot of time on the sideline getting paid a lot of money to do so. If the Cowboys aren't afraid to give big money to a player that spends a lot of time injured, then they shouldn't be afraid to give a player not nearly as much who spends a lot of time injured. -

If the Cowboys are willing to keep resigning Sean Lee, then Lance shouldn't scare them. -

True, but thought it was worth noting that Lance had been extended. Hopefully he gets a longer extension after this season. -

Not still on the rookie deal. He was an RFA after last season and signed a tender offer. Link. -
NCAA Football will crown a true champion

I don't think 32 makes sense, but 12 or 16 does. 4 is just too small and doesn't give everyone even close to a fair shot at the playoff. My point with the pro sports is that you have 40-50% of the league in the playoffs, and more in some sports. 12 teams would still be less than 10% of teams, and 16 would be 12.5%. That is hardly a dilution of the playoff and would give every conference a chance to win. Each would get the conference winners and 2 to 6 at large spots a shot at the title. I would also argue that in college football, anyone can beat anyone at any time. MSU and OU, both playoff teams, were beat by 5-7 teams. Virginia Tech finished 7-6 and beat the eventual national champs by 14. Your last argument is kind of undercut by your earlier basketball argument. There are instances of teams with losing records getting hot at the right time and ending up in the NCAA tournament. You don't want a four loss football team in a playoff, but in basketball, a losing record is no big deal? All I am looking for is a true playoff dictated by results on the field and distribution of opportunity, not by a selection of P5 ADs, former P5 ADs/coaches/players, and other P5 alums. -

You must hate the basketball tournament and all pro playoffs as well. -
Seth Littrell 1-on-1 with Dave Barnett

I would too, but more important right now for me would be to get some videos for the players he has had commit. -
WBB vs. Weber State (12/4/15)

I don't think that ever happens, over night or otherwise. You may want to consult your physician. -
Thinking too small, I don't know that it is just the truck...

It would appear that new coaches don't sell themselves.

If he is really the guy to turn this place around, he will make that B&B at least a three star hotel after one night and having competing for the best hotel in Denton County within two nights. #expectations

Littrell boards Lovelace jet back to Denton

Does he plan to rent or own? -
I would be shocked if he was not aware of the size of our stadium and the attendance we draw. His agent (and he) failed if they didn't spend 20 minutes on the internet to find all that out.

Well, you see, when I see things like this going on, I attempt to understand what they are thinking by exploring reasons why people might make the decisions they are making and what might create a scenario in which they would behave in which they are. Conversely, you get mad and shout at people who disagree with you. Everyone has their own coping mechanisms.

So P5 schools don't hire coordinators as often. Not sure how that equates to our situation. One can also look at the long list of coaches that were successful at other schools and were not a good fit once they moved up. Call up Tennessee and see how that worked for them with some of their past hires. These people weren't born a college head coach, someone gave them a chance. We can be that someone.

The whole thing is not ideal, but we are where we are, I am just trying to make the best of it.

There are posts from several on this board where he has expressed that attendance is bad and he expected to be so and other types of candid speech. Maybe I am reading into it a bit, but not any more so than many others in many different directions.

That is not always true. RV is not an at will employee, and sometimes it does take more time to fire a long tenured state employee who is under contract. Especially when there are a lot of stake-holders in the decision. I don't know what all is going on behind the scenes, but it is apparent that Smatresk is not satisfied with current performance within the AD. Just because things haven't happened on your terms and timeline does not mean that things aren't going to happen in the future.
