  1. If he was, he would probably be a better recruiter.
  2. I don't think that it's fair to say that because they are Hispanic means that they automatically visit or have family in Mexico. Some Hispanics are from Venezuela or Puerto Rico, or may even have been born here and have never even stepped foot in Mexico. So, basically, what you are saying is that anywhere there is a large population of Hispanics should be given a wide berth? There have been less than 100 cases reported in the US. That is ~0.0000333% of the US population. I am not ready to declare one ethnic group more likely to have a disease based on that sample size. I would also say that the more affluent people in the US are more likely to have recently vacationed in Mexico. Does that mean we should shut down the Highland Park and Southlake school districts?
  3. But it will have felt like half a day and no one will have scored.
  4. How does this factor? I was not aware that the Hispanic students in FW constantly travel to Mexico where they might contract the disease. Ethnicity has nothing to do with this situation. Its not like people who are Hispanic are more or less likely to contract the disease. They are not walking around as carriers that are just waiting to give the flu to Whitey. This is a pretty ignorant statement.
  5. Did he do a good job of keeping the books for his illegal gambling ring? Did he keep an accurate running total of the number of dogs that won/lost/were drowned and buried in the backyard? I need all the information to make and educated decision about your hypothetical.
  6. And how many of the PAC 10 were from USC? I can't imagine that there were that many. What does that say about the rest of that conference?
  7. As an FYI, some of the writers left the show after season one. Most notably was the guy who created Pushing Daises. After that show was cancelled, he returnded to Heroes for the last four episodes of this season. If you watched the end of the season, they did start to make a turn back to form. Maybe next season will right the ship. It has lacked a lot the last two seasons, but there is hope.
  8. And how many other schools are not being chosen? I think it may be a little early to declare this class over.
  9. They signed another good one a few years back.
  10. Wow, I din't know that. What an inconvenient truth...
  11. I think that American cars are also designed with planned obsolescence and maintenance costs. All part of making more money.
  12. Was it the snap under center, or the gross incompetence of the opposing defense?
  13. I thought you were going here...
  14. What more should the paperwork have to say? He played X games and was unable to complete the season because of X injury. I don't know that you can lay all of this at the feet of the athletic department. It is not their fault that the NCAA plays favorties. And anyone who doesn't believe that they play favorites needs to wake up.
  15. So a triumphant return to his heyday in college, right? I mean, Isiah has had success coaching on the college level, right? That's what would make this a great hire. So, given that he doesn't, this is just a headline grab.
  16. And what was his home versus away record while at Hawaii? This includes bowl games (Hawaii bowl counts as home, others as away [only happened once]) By year 1999 - 9-4 Home - 6-4 Away - 3-0 (games against SMU, Tulsa, SJSU) 2000 - 3-9 Home - 3-5 Away - 0-3 (games against TCU, Rice, Fresno) 2001 - 9-3 Home - 7-2 Away - 2-1 (games against Nevada, SMU, Tulsa) Note: ended the season with 6 straight home games. 2002 - 10-4 Home - 7-2 Away - 3-2 (games against BSU, BYU, UTEP, Fresno, Rice) 2003 - 9-5 Home - 9-5 Away - 2-4 (games against USC, UNLV, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, SJSU, Nevada) 2004 - 8-5 Home - 8-1 Away - 0-4 (games against Rice, UTEP, BSU, Fresno) 2005 - 5-7 Home - 3-4 Away - 2-3 (games against MSU, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, SJSU, Nevada) 2006 - 11-3 Home - 7-1 Away - 3-2 (games against Bama, BSU, Fresno, NMSU, USU) 2007 - 12-1 Home - 7-0 Away - 5-1 (games against Louisiana Tech, UNLV, Idaho, SJSU, Nevada, Georgia [sugar Bowl]) Average home games per year - 8.3 Home record - 55-20 Average away games per year - 4.4 Away record - 20-20 His away record is not that great. If he is an elite coach, shouldn't his record be better considering the mostly spare teams that Hawaii plays? Also, he didn't hardly play away games. There are BCS schools that are envious of playing that many home games every year. And to have a guaranteed home game in the post season if you get the wins.
  17. Evidence? Just because the guy had success at Hawaii doesn't make him a good coach. He took players with talent and questionable academics to a program in a vacation spot. SMU isn't the same story. Remind me, what Big XII, PAC-10, SEC jobs have been offered to him after all this success? June Jones College Record - 76-52 - 0.594 win % Pro - 22-37 - 0.373 win % Overall - 98-89 - 0.524 win % And for comparison... Pete Carroll (also has college and pro experience) College Record - 88-15 - 0.854 win % Pro - 34-33 - 0.507 win % Overall - 122-48 - 0.718 win % And for reference, his first year at USC he was 6-6. Almost half of his losses came in his first season there. Now, if JJ was so great, wouldn't some big time program have been eager to get a guy with pro experience that could take their program to great heights? Or would they have looked at him and seen a Chan Gailey type of coach? I am not convinced that JJ was really a great hire, but time will tell.
  18. I have a question - how do you feel about the Olympics? Every time an athlete places second or third, the American flag is flown below that of one or two other countries. Does that mean that we should tell the Olympic games to F-off because we don't allow our flag to be flown below any other sovereign nation under any circumstance? (Everything that follows is not directed specifically at KRAM) Are we too proud (see arrogant) to show any other country or world leader the slightest bit of respect? That might explain why the rest of the world HATES US. We want to tell them how to live their lives and we don't want to show them any respect. How do we feel about the countries and people that do the same to us? Come on people, if we want to be a part of the world, maybe we should be a little more respectful. I don't see this as a big issue, but if you want to criticize everything the man does, then you have that right. But maybe you should find more people who agree with you so we don't have to have the same tired argument every day. Seriously, if all you have is that he is a Muslim or that he is running up the deficit, then maybe you should just have a standard response that you cut and paste into you response. And please, stop posting blog links as backup to your opinions. This goes for both sides. A blog, that is not backed up by facts, is someone's opinon. If they can't show where the information came from, then they are just spouting off. The blog is the new source for conspiracy theories, but they look a little more legitimate. And for those keeping score I am not a socialist, a democrat, or a republican. I am a moderate, and I am getting tired of both sides, one more than the other (there aren't three, because there are no socialists here that I can see). Note: all of the preceding was opinion, there was no statement of fact beyond how I feel.
