NCAA Hands Down Verdict on Louisville
forevereagle replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I don't think that Louisville suspended him. The NCAA suspended him for the first 5 ACC games this season. I would be surprised if the school does anything beyond the NCAA punishment. -

There has not been an official announcement, but WB has all but said that it is a done deal. -
DRC -- Details of Seth Littrell's new contract

I don't think that is the career path he wants to take. Just my read, but it seems like the case. -
DRC -- Details of Seth Littrell's new contract
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I doubt that he is interested in backing off the HC track in his career right now, so I would call it unlikely he steps back into an OC role. And Tulsa isn't a likely scenario. -
DRC: Why UNT needs a new track venue

Part of the master plan is to build a parking garage on part of where Fouts is today. -
DRC: UNT's post-spring depth chart with thoughts
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It has been employed as a less outright form of personal attack. Instead of taking a counter point to the argument, you must be assigned a label that invalidates your opinion so it can be dismissed. It is not unique to GMG, but it certainly makes its share of appearance here. -
DRC: UNT's post-spring depth chart with thoughts
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The problem is that the term is used in a derogatory and dismissive manner. Instead of responding to the argument, the defender is labeled an apologist and the person administering the label dismisses their opinion. If there were an actual discussion going on, then the term wouldn't even be necessary. -
DRC: UNT 2016 recruiting class review

Really looking forward to the conceived in 2017 issue. Should be a real page turner. -
DRC: UNT's post-spring depth chart with thoughts
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Just as a level set, in the 9 games that Fine played in last season, (not counting WKU since he barely played) he averaged more per game than what would be required to get to 2k for a full 12 game season. 20 TDs may be a high mark based on what we saw last season, but 2k yards should not be. -
Notes from Coaches Caravan in Houston tonight

What makes you say that? -
I am ok with playing them in one game where we part ways after. No way would I want to be in a conference with them.

I am just excited about another season. Year one was a fun ride, so I am just excited by what year 2 brings.

DRC: One more time -- A look at UNT's scheduling moves
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Who says that deal was on the table for us? ODU is a more local opponent for them with whom they have history. They really wanted a home game for their opener, likely with a team people are interested to watch and might bring some fans. I kind of doubt we fit the criteria of what they wanted from that game, ODU did. -
DRC: Police make fourth arrest in UNT basketball case
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
From the information we have, Benford was transitioning out of the job at the time that this all went down. Not sure that he was the HC at the time. Of course, that assumes that all this was happening for the first time and had not been an issue prior to Benford being let go. -
DRC: Police make fourth arrest in UNT basketball case
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I am not a Benford fan, but just because he was the coach doesn't mean that he knew that these guys were doing something illegal. People who do illegal things tend to not tell people in positions of authority that they are doing illegal things. -

Recruiting trip? -
The bowl game was unlikely to have an impact in recruiting for last season. Most of the recruits it would have helped with were already committed by the time we played in the game. I look for the bowl game to help with recruiting in our current cycle. Early returns suggest that it has helped, but time will tell the whole story.

I agree with your point, just making sure that you are showing what we are up against. We have every major pro sport in the area and 4 D1 universities plus a bunch of D1s in the state.
-
FBS statewide, including SMU and TCU, excluding UTA (not FBS), is 12 total schools (counting us). If you want to get into Division 1, there are a ton more of those.

There are 11 other FBS schools statewide.

Baker vows to elevate program at caravan stop
forevereagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't think we all understand that Brett has to write an article assuming that the reader knows nothing about the context surrounding the situation. Just because we all know what is going on doesn't mean that he has to write for only us. You can argue that the people reading the story already know, but he just can't write under that assumption. It's the same reason that he has the signing day date in each article about a recruit. -
Tony Mitchell breaks rim with monster dunk
forevereagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
It's because he didn't hustle enough. -
Really? Because you don't like the series it automatically means that Wren knows someone at the school and that he views that relationship as more important that the program? You don't even have a thread to pull on there, but you are willing to portray it as a fact. It's ok not to like this series (I am not a fan), but let's not go throwing out crazy accusations just because we don't like it.
