The SEC seems to think that every conference game is a rivalry (unless you are Vandy, pity does not a rivalry make). I don't think that we need to be limited to a number. A rivalry is an attitude towards a team, not some number that we come up with to artificially designate it.

Out of curiosity, could it be possible to develop a rivalry with UTSA, LT, UTEP, and Rice at once? Can we only have one rival? Not sure I understand why we must limit these things.

This is how our brand can die. We are the only Mean Green and allowing others to take the name whenever they want, that will lose us our individuality. If MSU likes it, why wouldn't they start selling it on shirts? Where does it end? Also, the typical college football fan then says that we stole their name not knowing the true history. Could be. I don't know that they can detect who it listening. Even if they could, the DVR issue has been around for awhile now. Viewing is measured at the time it is viewed. If someone records a program and never watches it, then they don't count.

Something to be aware of is that TV ratings are not exactly reliable, despite how industry folks view them. I would trust them even less based on the niche program that we are looking at.

I think a real look at the defense is warranted here. They are top ranked, but look at who they have played. Kentucky is the only opponent of consequence and they are not really an offensive powerhouse. Southern and ULM are also not offense rich teams. They may have a really good defense, but it may also be a product of who they have played. They may be in for more of a challenge than they think, similar to many on here and UAB.
