Scrimmage of interest tonight on Ch. 27 KDFI
gamebreaker replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
you guys are seriously nuts if you think NT has a chance in hell to stay within 40 pts of UT. Even though they have a rookie QB, there is no question that these two guys are studs and are light years aheads of UNT's. all they have to do is manage the game and they will be national title contenders again. they have the best back field in the nation, top young receivers, and according to ESPN one of the best D's in the country. oh yeah...#2 recruiting class in the country. they will be pre-season top 5 with many people claiming they have MORE talent overall this year.....keep dreaming guys...this will be a laugher. UNT cant even play with sunbelt teams... UT- 57 UNT- 3 -
VY insists that he's coming back for a senior season....80-3. and thats being generous....we'll probably miss the field goal.

go to www.texassports.com, they have many to choose from....

Vince Young whines about the Hesiman Trophy
gamebreaker replied to Got5onIt's topic in Mean Green Football
I dont see whats wrong with not being happy about being number 1. who likes to be #2, obviously NT. I like that competitive edge in Vince Young. He's going to be pissed off during the Rose Bowl and light up USC! GO HORNS!!! Hook em' bottom line NT fans...quit settling for 2nd place! -
im not so sure whats so bad about dropping to 1AA and actually winning (well maybe) and actually having people get excited again. NT games are extremely boring except for the the one game every couple of years. our stadium is a poor high school stadium, i would much rather play at tx-state's stadium. why does everyone want to keep getting killed by everyone outside of the sunbelt each year?? yeah we won 4 league titles...big deal, so could any other school outside our conference. we are NEVER going to get the big recruits....sorry, just to many top programs in texas. how can anyone disagree with this???
-
Our games remind me of a 3A high school football game. Ive been watching TSU the past couple of weeks and the atmosphere there is just unbelievable. We never come close to that. people are excited about texas state football, unlike here at NT. im sure they would have kicked our butt this year and im sure they are getting some of our recruits as well. lets see, would you rather play in front of 30K+ every game and compete for a national championship or play in the sun belt "door-mat" conference and get creamed by anyone with a pulse??? not a tough decision. lets drop to 1AA and compete again! if not, we will always be a door-mat...plain and simple
-
jk, but things do need to turn around real fast before we do start losing even more recruits!
-
why are we all satisfied with 19K at a homecoming game?? we need to raise our expectations. UT has twice as many show up for their spring scrimmage! RAISE THE EXPECTATIONS & STOP SETTLING FOR LESS!
-
RV needs to get rid of the whole staff and start next year with a fresh new look...(offense) and actually get kids excited to come here and get fans excited to be a part of this. This latest incident was the last straw for me. I wont be back until something dramatic changes...I cant be associated with this kind of conduct.

How in the world does UT go to Rose Bowl?
gamebreaker replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
I think everyone that is hating on UT is just jealous that UNT will never be any where close to them. its impossible to have this conversation about whos better...just let things play out for themselves. VT and USC still have some very tough games ahead that could really affect things. Horns'...national champs...mark my words. -
if holding our own is losing by 50+ then we are in REAL sad shape....
-
the answer is we will lose our non-conference games (probably blow-outs again) and then struggle in the Belt again. how could we be any better?? its still the SAME GUYS...some will say that a years experience will make all the difference in the world...but come on, they wont be THAT much improved from this year, not enough to win. it all comes down to the coaches, playing style, and talent. we have none of the three. well we have coaches, but they are horrible, we have a playing style but its like watching paint dry, and we do have talent....high school talent. so there you go...we will suck again next year and the year after until things change around here.
-
you got that right! even though I have been saying all year long that we need to steal their playbook...
-
"I would rather support a winless NT team than an undeafeated TU team. Untill I see more of them supporting us, screw 'em." wow, someone is really jealous of a winning team....

La Tech Fans Saying They Will Hammer NORTH TEXAS!
gamebreaker replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
lets face reality, we will get our ass kicked again. if anyone wants to say otherwise, then ill be ready to say i told you so. not that i hope that happens, but im just being real. its time to finally face reality about this years team and wake up from your fantacies. -
ive been saying this all along (southlake offensive scheme)....but nobody seems to listen

Sports Network Preview - UNT/FIU Game
gamebreaker replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Ill take NT 21-17. If we can score 14 on MTSU then surely we can get 21 on these guys. but on the other hand we are the worst team offensively in D1... -
okay, its pretty sad that everyone is spending so much time arguing about whether or not the team stayed for the school song. maybe they were instructed to leave, maybe not...WHO CARES! maybe if we could fill our small concrete high school stadium to capacity each week then they would stay. thats the sad part. theres no fan support.
-
Cerebus- whether we could execute or not is one thing, but lets not be so stubborn and refuse to open things up to give our selves a chance. two TE's every play and playaction pass is just not gonna get it done...
-
i think we're getting better recruits each year, we just need to make a dramatic change in the offense to give us a chance. will that happen??....well probably not with Dickey in charge...who knows, maybe he'll surprise us.
-
I know I've been negative before in my posts, but thats b/c Im frustrated with watching NT struggle to do anything offensively. The other thing I am frustrated with is the lack of adjustment each week. its just the same predictable thing every week. "Dickey ball" has been fine for the past four years....run, run, run, play action pass. We have been able to win in the sun-belt with this formula. But we all know that we have had a very tough time in non-conference games and the reason is b/c we dont have the athletes to play smash-mouth football against bigger, stronger, faster teams (everyone outside the Sun Belt). This is 2005 and the smashmouth football of yesteryear needs to take a back seat. We need to spread the field (3 or 4 receivers) and now that you have the defense spread out, instead of 8 in the box, you can throw the short routes with consistency (take what the D gives you). Spreading the defense out also give you RUNNING LANES and we do have great running backs. we need to give them a chance by spreading out the D!! this will also help open up the deeper pass. but if we continue to play "dickey ball" then we will never get to where we want to be. anyone ever watch Southlake Carroll??? im not talking about an air-raid like Tech....we need a balanced attack like Southlake to be successful. I think with the running backs we have and the decent receivers we have, this is the way to go. Take some pressure off the O-line. with this balanced spread offense we could dominate the Sun Belt and finally be competitive in non-conference. We need to make this change soon since we have a new stadium coming....recruits need to see a new offense and new facilities to draw them here.
-
heres what I have a problem with. why not spread the Defense out like they did at the end of the game...now youve got running lanes for the two "stud" backs and now you can throw the short passing routes (west coast offense). two TE's every play is just really boring and we dont have the athletes to run that kind of offense at the national level. we need to make a change....spread the D and throw the ball run cobbs. until that happens....go horns.
-
I was completely embarrassed in: Fouts Field Meager O-Line Defense Crowd attendance play-calling (very predictable and horrible) our band (played fight song when Troy converted a 4th down at the end of the game!!) our 'young' athletes compared to Troys youth. bright spot: they showed the new stadium on national television...

TSU new possible in-state rivalry game
gamebreaker replied to Mean'n'Green07's topic in Mean Green Football
i think the main reason most are against this is b/c they know we would probably lose. the aggies would have beaten us by 80. t-state will be D1 real soon...why not start a good in-state rivalry? its better than getting spanked by less than avg tulsa and k-state teams.....
