CUSA and Sunbelt Merger About to Happen Folks
oldguystudent replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm cool with 9:00 am start times, but I'm not cool with how the MWC plays a HUGE percentage of its games on Tues-Thurs. I would drop my season tickets over that. (Oh. Wait. You mean 9:00 P.M. game starts, don't you? Yeah. Ouch) -

Just keep Karl Benson out of my life. That's all I ask. No need to end up getting Benson'd so soon after we got Benford'd and Dodge'd. -
This just in: The Dallas A Plus Academy Knights to change their name to the Dallas A Plus Fan Brawling Knights. These A+ Academy recent scores definitely reflect the kind of place somebody from the Dodge coaching tree belongs.

Present day WAC is like one of those formerly giant publicly traded companies that went under and trades as a shell company on the pink sheets now.
-
I was absolutely thinking of conference killer Karl Benson. I know he's not with the WAC anymore. Twas a frivolous post.

Also not pictured -- the sensational amount of kickback that generated.

There's so much debate about that and how to go about it and what people want the university to be. Argument 1) We need as many students as possible to be a juggernaut force in the state (that a good percentage of those students are not college ready and that it requires an increase in remedial classes is mere collateral damage. They have student loan checkbooks that pay various and sundry fees toward things we like) Argument 2) We need to be more selective and maybe reduce enrollment to increase the standard of students admitted and perhaps attract higher profile faculty and research dollars (That this would likely considerably reduce that attention paid toward things like athletics is mere collateral damage) Argument 3) We are and always have been a nice pragmatic choice for area students going into nice pragmatic non-extraordinary but fulfilling careers (Only at same ole' little ole' UNT. Who's got a bulldozer that can tear down all these invasive new houses and commercial real estate?) I don't think anybody related to UNT, student, alum, faculty, administration, really has a firm grasp on what the future of the university should really be. -
Look at Grand Canyon up there at #93! The WAC shall rise again! (Karl Benford's gettin' his dancing shoes shined as we speak!)

How the HELL do you spend $19 million on a basketball program? Though I'm sure many here would aspire to compete with that.

Is it time to drop "North Texas" and become UNT?
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't mean to quote your post individually, it's just one of many instances I've seen mention Southern Cal/USC. It isn't a directional school because it isn't some offshoot redheaded stepchild of a bigger flagship state run university system. It is its own privately run entity. There is no University of Northern California. If there were, its name is presently Stanford. As for locally, when I lived damn near across the street from that school, most locals just referred to it as "SC." Same goes for whoever mentioned "Southern Methodist." Not a directional school because not part of a larger state run institution. Now then, let's get to the important matters. If we're to start re-branding (AGAIN), can we start talking a new shade of green (AGAIN?) Nothing says consistently getting your name out there to the world like changing it every six months. -
DRC: McCasland picks up second commitment

So this guy has gotten two Arkie recruits to defect* to Denton with him. I'm impressed with the immediate loyalty he seems to create in these kids. * C'mon. Kid's dad played for the Soviet olympic team in '88? I had to use the word defect! -
I suggest we get the fund raiser started right now so that we can name it the " @THOR gets no cheesecake" indoor practice facility.
-
I've found myself getting pulled, prodded, provoked, and cajoled so hard on both sides of that issue, that it's better if I merely never mention it at all.
-
Have they said what they're going to call it? Maybe the Dan McCarney Practice Turf that sits inside the Todd Dodge Indoor Practice Facility which rest atop the former Darrell Dickey Practice Fields?

I stopped looking when Duke lost in the second round. Pretty sure I had them winning the whole thing.

Progressive Football Strategy: The Coach Who Never Punts
oldguystudent replied to Caw Caw's topic in Mean Green Football
That was something that surprised me when I moved to Texas. Where I hail from, the Catholic schools play in the same leagues as the public schools and they win all the championships every year. I moved here and couldn't figure out why that wasn't the case until I learned they have their own organization outside of UIL.
