Marijuana possession doesn't exactly shock or surprise me at all. While I get that smoking pot while on scholarship is a stupid, stupid thing to do, half the population of Denton is stoned at any given moment, so it doesn't surprise me that any given athlete would fall into that. But prostitution? That one's a surprise.

Here's a candid shot of AAC commissioner, Michael Aresco: -
I guess if you don't get invited to the party, you simply declare yourself to have successfully crashed it.

Miami Beach bowl moving to Frisco
oldguystudent replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
Damn! That's got to be one of the most poorly conceived football stadium layouts ever. Almost as bad as when they did a football game in Wrigley, but both teams had to go the same direction because there wasn't enough buffer space behind one of the endzones. -

Current Cotton Bowl capacity is 91,200. Outside the Red River Shootout, that's a tough sellout for anybody. -

Armed Forces bowl is at the TCU stadium (Amon Carter, right?). I was just having this same thought not long ago, but then wondered if UNT administration could even pull it off. Also of concern is lack of reasonable hotel accommodations. But mostly, parking and tickets. So much difficult. -
And where do you live? You still file. Married jointly. Income earned outside the United States is excluded from taxable income up to $100,800, though I believe you still have to report it.

McCasland's recruiting has been phenomenal
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I genuinely hope the ticket office gets their act together before basketball season starts. There may actually be some demand this year. I'll never buy basketball season tickets because the bulk of the season interferes with tax season, so impractical. I'll always be a buy at the door guy, and that experience has turned me off for a good long time.- 34 replies

As we got acquired on January 1st by a bunch of rapscallion California bean counters who count beans even harder than we do, I am no longer able to help out non-clients. And unless you're bringing in eight figures, you aren't a client. I'm not at joking when I say this sucks. I was doing a lot of tax work for a lot of normal joes free of charge because I kinda considered it my community service, and I love taking a bite out of Intuit. But I do that now, and I'll end up on the gomeangrean.com job forum, sooo...yeah.

Best Recruiting Win of the Littrell Era?
oldguystudent replied to Caw Caw's topic in Mean Green Football
Offers from Colorado, Illinois, LaTech, Minnesota, SMU, Texas Tech, and Utah. This is the first time I recall EVER beating out an offer list like that. Ever. But the kid hasn't signed anything yet, has he? I'll hang up and listen. -
Seems like a pretty big step down, but I suppose it's a nice resting spot until the next HC gig comes along.

Depends. Over how many years? Benford'd. Oh...Wait...It's a new day, isn't it? Knowing absolutely nothing about these players or the game of basketball in general, I'm putting the over/under at 16 wins. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

DRC: An early look at UNT's 2017 schedule
oldguystudent replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
UAB is going to have a breakout, honeymoon, welcome back to football, feel good, made for TV Disney movie type season. Don't take them lightly. -
DRC: UNT adds Tikhonenko, Brown to transfer

Has the entire roster turned over now? I don't mean this question to be critical. Just seems like a LOT of change. -
I like this one. Except for the first stop, they're all at breweries/Dot's (nice pickup there). Like the expansion to San Antonio and Houston.

Wait, what? Really? I haven't seen Monday Night Football for years since it went off broadcast television. Now then, back on topic. To the suggestions of forming a brand new conference, maybe @TheTastyGreek can shed some light on that. I seem to recall that he spoke of conference eligibility rules for getting an auto-bid to the basketball tournament and there was something along the lines of the teams having played together for some period of years. Would forming a brand new conference shut the door on post season for several years? ^^^^I could be talking out my butt there. I really don't know. Like I said, I just seem to remember Tasty talking about something like that.

DRC: Report -- McCasland's buyout has been paid
oldguystudent replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This is a very fair and valid point. When my Heart of Dallas bowl ticket didn't arrive until two days after the game, and the fine young man in the ticket office essentially told me I was lying to him and trying to rip the ticket office off for two tickets (for the same seat for the same game???), and I raised bloody hell over it, the response was, "It's still staff from the old regime. We're working to make things better." It's been a minute or two since then. Will we still get the same response? Blame it on the old, long departed guy and his lingering staff? Who still apparently linger nearly a year after the fact? While I've absolutely no love in my heart for a certain football "coach" (term used vu-herrry loosely), I've never much felt the need to criticize the athletic department for its hit and miss (and miss and miss and miss and miss) coaching hires. But holy hell its operations have been utter shit. I want to see this improve, and like right the f*ck quick. Dropping the ball on a $500K check, while kinda funny to an extent (because it doesn't hurt us personally), is a pretty big operations blunder. This does not bode well. I was thinking unrelated to any of this last night that I still don't have faith that I'll receive my 2017 season tickets in time for the first (or the second, or the third) game, and that if I want to go to the SMU game, I'll probably have to buy tickets from John Williams again (who in 2015 bought them from the SMU ticket office because, well, take a couple guesses). I'm at the end of my rope with this operational gaffe blame it on the customer nonsense. (Did they blame Arkie St. for not calling? I truly wonder). F*ck up my tickets for 2017, and I'll finish out my capital gift, but likely won't continue throwing good money after bad. And thus concludes the early morning maniacal rantings of a tax account mere days before the deadline. -
