I have one child of which I am aware. It would, however, not be a huge surprised to find out that there were a number of 20-22 year old kids traipsing about the Korean peninsula right about now with suspiciously round eyes and socially unacceptable irreverence.

I spent the nineties engaged in activities that had absolutely nothing to do with football unless we want to be more liberal with the term tailback.

I've been kinda wondering about that prospect as this all unfolds. There's a lot of ego in having outlandish winning records year in and year out even if they do come at the expense of Paraplegic University for the Mentally Incapacitated Blind. Definitely makes it harder to get out that damn "SEC! SEC! SEC!" chant. Then again, if you make the league exclusive enough, maybe that trumps the century of artificially inflated records.

Link This article suggests an even further reduction of "Big Time" programs to a separate league of only 32 teams who only play each other with the little guys pretty much having nowhere left to go.

If memory serves correctly, Will Atterberry was the most prolific player of the Dodge years. If USC is tailback U., then UNT is punter U.

C-USA Bowl Predictions 2017

I'm predicting the Cajun Bowl from Rock and Roll Sushi. Spicy mayo crawfish topped over sushi rice. -

When this becomes the norm rather than the exception, my ticket buying days are over. Those games are waaaay too difficult to get to. I can't see Friday night college football catching on in Texas like ever. Everybody has their collective eyes glued on the Universities of Alan and Austin Westlake, but I think I do recall a game or two on Tuesday and/or Wednesday in the old CUSA TV deals. Those sucked. Badly.

NCAA Hands Down Verdict on Louisville
oldguystudent replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Vacating national championships is stupid. Just like USC in whatever year, 2004? The NCAA had to have damn well known what was going on, but Reggie Bush was waaaay too much of a ratings draw to do anything about it in the moment. Nope, just wait a few years, come in, take the banner down, and pretend that the game was never played and that you never took in any of that sweet, sweet television money. -
Dallas News: Best in Texas Stadiums

I don't know if I was entirely aware that Houston had built a new stadium. Looking at the picture on its wiki page, I just see big, but no character: The part I can't wrap my head around is that it has only 25% more capacity than Apogee, but looks significantly larger than that from pictures I can find. But my main impression (from pictures, I haven't been there, no opinion on gameday experience) is just stacked aluminum bowl slightly more attractive than the old Fouts endzone seats. -
DRC: UNT set to unveil upgrades to Kuehne facility

I suggest that anybody here who subscribes to the "Tired of Ernie" newsletter to find him and arrange a private conversation. I think you'll be mighty surprised at what you hear. -

On a somewhat related/unrelated note, I noticed in the student union this past weekend that the words to the fight song are embedded in the floor so you read them as you walk, assuming your face isn't glued in the screen of your phone. I wrote in a flag with the imposing motto, "The site formerly known as Sack-N-Save." -

DRC: A look back on the top five coaches in UNT history
oldguystudent replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I've never even heard of Bob Tyler. His wiki page shows he got pretty seriously smacked around at Mississippi St. by the NCAA for undisclosed violations. I came to UNT in the second year of the great Dodge debacle. The tales that I've have regaled upon me regarding Dickey range from savior of the program to the devil incarnate. There doesn't seem to be anybody holding middle ground on the guy. I can't make a reasonable judgment because the opinions expressed are so wildly variable. This evolving Mac vs. Dodge debate is intriguing. I was this close to getting my UNT football games attended record to .500 under Mac until whatever the hell happened happened. Under Dodge, I had no such hope whatsoever. I just expected the losses to pile up and pile up they did. By the time Portland St. came along, I had a macabre curiosity as to just how bad that game would get. I was sitting next to some parents who were engaging in some odd form of gallows humor guffaws at the absurdity of the game. Players were complete disengaged, and certain receivers were pulling ye olde timey Darrell Dickey tactics on Twitter lashing out of the dozens of fans remaining. It was a glorious crashing and burning in a blaze of fire not seen since the Hindenburg. But..given that my only two points of data were Dodge and Mac, at least I got to see a winning season and a bowl win under Mac, and that one year was a really, really good time that had me more invested into a program that I had previously lost all interest in as wins and losses went. -

More fun -- give us a bottom five. And remember that Trilli didn't coach football.
