  1. Man I remember when that Arkansas video came out. It's not less batshit today than it was then. It's spectacular.
  2. They were six bucks last year, right? Any word if that's going up? I'm a little frightened that Wren might like it if I find myself staring down the barrel of a nine dollar bud/miller/coors product.
  3. The very first game I ever attended, Tulsa in 2008, had a premium game price on it. I knew nothing of the program, looked up prices, Tulsa cost more. I asked why and the girl said, "You know, we thought this would be a game more people would want to attend."
  4. 28 ppg from a nationally recognized offensive guru in the video game era of college football ain't gonna get it done. Hope our defense is good again.
  5. I'm really glad that the G5, led by the MWC is starting to give ESPN the finger on these gawdawful weeknight games.
  6. It was a weeknight game. Those are tough to get to if you work outside of Denton. I've missed a couple of them, but I didn't miss this one, and boy howdy am I glad I didn't.
  7. Yeah, no. Disclaimer: I've NEVER sat in the student section, so I'm not prone to the "In my day" rhetoric. @Ryan Munthe is absolutely right on this one. The first three years of Apogee, the student section was so loud and obnoxious that other schools actually filed complaints with the conference that ultimately forbade students from sitting in what is now the Eastside club chairback section.
  8. So I happened to come across a video of the students doing this chant at the 10/31/13 game against Rice, that game of "The Stand" lore. This video is recorded by our very own @Christopher Walker, and comes from the middle of the student section. The offending moment comes at 1:25 in the video. I suggest those with sensitivities cover their ears, for I think this is STILL resonating throughout the stadium to this very day. Also, I thought I remember that game being way better attended than that. Maybe because I was on the other side looking over at the students.
  9. Went up, got my tickets. The girl at the table told me to make sure everything was there. Everything was there. I am pleased with that. Pretty cool packaging this year too.
  10. I honestly wasn't aware of it until people started writing about it on this board. I happens so fast, even when listening for it, I tend to miss it most of the time.
  11. And depending on the price of beer, I imagine you'll be there through the afternoon and well into the evening as well. I think I'm gonna be able to make it up sometime in the afternoon. I decided I want to pick up my tickets in person so if anything is missing I can remedy it on site (I hope) instead of through phone calls with some kid calling me a liar. (Yeah, I still got a bitter taste in my mouth from the bowl game and pretty much every year of season tickets before that. So sue me.)
  12. I recall this same argument when debating whether or not they should sell beer at Apogee -- that there were children there who would see it. I remember thinking that by that logic, nobody should ever take children to professional sporting events, most restaurants, or many movie theaters. I respect a parent's right to raise their children as they see fit, but I think it is a pretty broad stroke for those who would dictate the behavior of others in public in the interest of sheltering their children. At least to the point where said behavior is otherwise legal. Reading this thread brings me the following question: Given -- it is inappropriate for children to hear swearing/cussing/cursing Given -- there is an appropriate place to engage in swearing/cussing/cursing Therefore -- there is an appropriate age for people to become exposed to/begin engaging in swearing/cussing/cursing Question: What is that appropriate age?
  13. Yeah, everybody except me just loves the place. It feels childish and strange to me. I don't hate it, and I don't hate UTA. That place is just...off for college sports to me, and I realize that I am in the extreme minority on that opinion.
  14. Didn't notice that was Keene. I grew up Adventist and had several high school classmates from there. Healthy eaters, I suppose. Teetotalling vegetarians who in my time drank their caffeine in the closet. If he's gonna eat food brought to the station, I hope he's a fan of veggie burgers and haystacks (the ultimate Adventist cultural food. Look it up).
  15. I miss the days of going to baseball games in Candlestick Park in the 70s and early 80s when people BYOB'd two liter bottles of cheap scotch and smoked joints under the bleachers before heading to the communal trough urinals in the men's room. I saw and heard a lot of "educational" things in those days. It was about 1987 that they introduced the family section in the outfield, completely sequestered from the rest of the stadium, no alcohol for sale. I don't mind that I grew up in a less sheltered world.
  16. That thing's a real pisser (dammit, can't find the requisite picture) Logistical question -- Football season is 32 days away. If they were indeed selling some kind of seating/tent watching/merry making/see and be seen area out there, and it was available to the general donating public for whatever price, wouldn't we have heard something about it via email solicitation by now?
  17. Oh, I've long since given up hope of baseball at UNT. No sense in trying to convince anybody otherwise.
  18. Always keep your hundred dollar bills neatly pressed, never wrinkled.
  19. If baseball didn't matter, the B1G wouldn't have bothered stamping its feet and throwing major temper tantrums for the past fifteen years trying to get rule changes in its favor while the SEC continues to game the RPI heavily in its favor so that even it's sub .500 last place teams get pissed off when they don't make the tournament.
  20. The best place to get beer on a student budget is the giant wall o' cheap libations at Sack N Save.
  21. I'm not gonna speak for the organizers of this event, but I don't recall there being a shortage two years ago.
  22. You are welcome in retrospect.
  23. I know in similar situations with my kid, I've found it better to ask forgiveness than permission. Result is that there's not a bar in Deep Ellum that won't let her in now. (Relax teetotallers. We go for the music, not the booze)
  24. Did you go last time? I didn't drink at all on that trip, and I don't recall that it got wild at all.
