I was in Frisco when that fight began. I'm amused that on the other side of that argument, the very same people who were vehemently defending the coons mascot got up in arms over the proposed name of one of the many, many new high schools in town as Lebanon. Too middle eastern. Too muslim. Too much forgetfulness that the community was originally called Lebanon. Something in a name is invariably always going to offend somebody.

In my YUGE data sample of one, when I bought my first ticket to my first game, I had no intention of becoming a season ticket holder. I had a student ID at the time, so my ticket was free, but I went to buy a ticket for my daughter so I could bring her along. They charged me MORE than the stated price for the ticket. I asked why..."Well, we thought that more people would be interested in coming to see Tulsa, so we're charging more for this game." At the time, money was tight. Real tight. So tight that I had to drink beer cheaper than what @THOR drinks. Paying extra for that ticket was kinda hard on me. If I hadn't weaseled my way into free admission for the kid that year, I would likely never have returned, and would most certainly not be a season ticket holder today, and would probably not ever go to Denton, and would never have known of UNT opportunities for my kid that she now takes advantage of. Get people in the seats. Maybe some of them get hooked. Even a 5% success rate would be worth the long-term returns.

Such an unfortunate circumstance and it seems there's going to be some bad blood no matter how this ultimately goes down. I don't know what the right thing to do is.

I am genuinely pleased to hear this. I was also impressed that the girl at the table when they handed out tickets at the event at Apogee told me to make sure everything was in my packet before I left. I think they got the message and are turning it around in the ticket office.

Just saw that A&M will wear these stickers during their game against UCLA. Kinda short notice to get something like that on UNT helmets, but I wonder if they could make some kind of merch that people could buy and donate the proceeds to some way that would help out Lamar players and families who might need it. Random idea. Sorry if it's lame.

Parallelism

Not crazy about giving up the bye week, especially the week before UTSA, but at least rescheduling is viable instead of outright losing the game. We also lose a game experience before SMU. Dammit. Just can't catch a break, can we?

Until proven otherwise, I expect 15-0 at the beginning of every season.

SJSU is fighting against Cal, Stanford, the 49ers, and (until a couple years from now) the Raiders. The school itself is a functional school where you go to get a decent job, but don't exactly walk around with your SJSU Alumni sweatshirt on. That said, they've fielded some pretty decent baseball and basketball teams, and back in the bad ole' days of the Big West, they'd put up the occasional W. But yeah, I grew up in the Bay Area until college, and was barely aware they existed.

Best -- The Stand, HOD against UNLV, smacking down SMU resulting in June Jones' firing Worst -- My first two and a half seasons with Todd Dodge as head coach. Watching Dan McCarney turn into an utterly uncaring, uninspired coach who clearly loved Florida more than UNT. Certain twitter posts from a player and a member of the AD.

I had no idea June Jones was still working. I figured he be enjoying the fruits of his youth ministry on the beaches of Hawaii about now.
