They were largely quiet, walking through a gauntlet of student led "Long drive down 35!" taunts. I worked hard to keep my mouth shut, but I did remark to my daughter, "I'm going to be a good sport, but they earned this taunting." I heard one couple say something along the lines of "Well, I guess you win when you cheat," to someone who I'm going to guess may very well have been a family member of a UNT player. That didn't go so well for the UTSA couple.

I have a metric shiton of vacation that I have to take. I would not hate the notion of going to New Orleans since I wasn't around for that first run of NOLA bowls. I doubt I'd go much farther though with having to pay full fare airline tickets and hotel rooms on such short notice. I most certainly wouldn't do something like the Bahamas bowl. I forget who played in that last year, but they talked to several fans who flew in that morning, watched the game, and flew out that night because it was otherwise prohibitively expensive. So I think NOLA is a nine-hour drive from where I live. That's where I'm setting my travel radius for a bowl game.

John Whisler, he of "UTSA IS GOING 11-0!!!1!111!!!ELEVENTY-ONE!" fame, seems to have believed that UTSA deserved to be ranked in September.

Given the ticket sales at the last two HOD games we've been to, and the fact that ESPN still controls the universe, I don't see us travelling unless we win the conference outright. I'm calling Armed Forces vs. Army...again... because f us, right? We'll buy the tickets.

I've never thought to look up past lines before. I see on some weird British betting site with a funny internet accent that we were indeed quite heavily favored over UAB (-417 moneyline), but I don't see a point spread. They might not do point spreads on that side of the pond. Too much flavor and improper and whatnot.

I think the only time we've been a favorite this year was against Lamar, and I'm honestly not even sure there was a line on that game. How's that goin' for ya' there, Vegas?

While we're at it, I just made sure to go in and update the series with UNT. They seemed a little slow on the uptake about putting the loss in there.

We're at 68 in the CBS poll and 102 in Sagarin. There are no future opponents ranked above us in the CBS poll. Sagarin still has Southern Miss and UTSA above us. According to Sagarin, current odds on future opponents (+3 points for home team taken into account): FAU favored by 5 UNT favored over Old Dominion by 12 LaTech favored by 6 UNT favored over UTEP by 21 Army favored by 1 UNT favored over Rice by 11 There's a good chance that this becomes a very, very special season, but I'll reserve "ROAD TO 10-2 AND RANKED LIKE A DUMBASS ROADKILL CHICKEN!!!!" assertions for now, though I do think we're in solid position to most certainly go to a bowl.
