  1. Curious where this will eventually lead on the college football fronts. No more rich ESPN contracts and will ESPN continue to control every bowl game? Will there be a reduction in number of bowls?
  2. The Blind Tiger and I go allll the way back to 1994 when I went to visit my first college girlfriend who happened to hail from Shreveport.
  3. Man he seems just generally pissed off.
  4. Man, they look kinda like old school Raiders uniforms.
  5. I want to jump on this bandwagon and curb stomp UTSA at every possible opportunity and call them Thug U and say that their players and coaching staff are dirty (which they totally are, btw), but in this case, it's hard for me to point fingers. Didn't we just have a situation where our basketball team was recruiting UNT students to run a prostitution ring? Perhaps the difference being that I don't think this kind of thing will get brushed off and further tolerated at UNT while the kid at UTSA will likely get a parade down the riverwalk for getting in such a good hit on the guy while he was down.
  6. I count 64 teams with 5 or more wins right now, and I think 39 40 bowl games (78 80 teams). This is just a casual scrolling down the screen mental count, so subject to margin of error, but overall I'm not seeing a huge statistical shift in number of eligible teams from prior years.
  7. Sometimes, I get tempted to call out former players by name and say things like, "See? THIS is what we expected of you!" Then I remember that they were just kids. Except that one guy on twitter. Screw that guy.
  8. I would totally dig that. Man, just looked at the schedule. The only possible bowl game that I could possibly make this year would be the Frisco bowl. I'm gonna be out in Oregon engaging in 100% state sanctioned legal activities all Christmas week. Didn't consider bowl season when I booked that trip. Well, I totally considered bowl season if I'm being completely honest.
  9. Per reddit, McElwain still personally owes Colorado State $1,000,001 for terminating his contract with them early.
  10. Southern Miss is 5-3 UAB is 5-3 UTSA is 5-2
  11. All I know is when I can get coffin races at noon and UNT game in the evening, it's always one of my favorite Denton days of the year.
  12. Those are available in spades, and running a quick mental checklist, I believe they are all located well outside the "No minors allowed" areas, so you should be good to go.
  13. If you're making a weekend of it, Ruston is only about an hour in from Shreveport/Bossier, so if you're into games of chance, it's a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone on the trip.
  14. Who is Charles Ramsey Stafford responding to Brett's article? Man. Somebody get that guy some Tuck's medicated pads. As to the real issue, dwindling college football attendance has been a topic of numerous articles across the nation for quite a number of years now. Bottom line -- students have other things they'd rather do. Period. They'd rather sit on a couch, take bong rips, and play video games or watch drone battles or whatever it is that they do. That's not a shaking my fist at clouds bemoaning the terrible, lazy kids of a generation. It's just an observation that the old ways of entertaining yourself on the weekends in college is rapidly changing. Possibly add that every game in the known universe is on television now, so if you ARE going to watch football, why not stay home and watch ALL the football (or, as some others have implied, all the games in which you have a financial interest).
  15. UAB sittin' pretty at 5-3 in their first year back. That victory is looking better and better. We have three wins against teams with winning records so far this year.
  16. They were pretty pissed off the year we beat them in Ruston. Wasn't quite so welcoming then. I'm gonna chalk that one up to lots and lots of alcohol, and zero expectation that UNT of all people was going to show up in their place and beat them.
  17. I honestly think it was worse last season. I've tried looking up the specific games and refs that compelled several of us to write letters to the conference office, but it was bad. Real bad.
  18. It's been seven years, ten days since the departure of the worst coaching regime North Texas has ever seen, possibly all of college football. Seven years, ten days. I still haven't been able to shake the notion that if a game is close, we WILL find a way to lose it. That sometimes we actually walk away from a win (or in the case of this season, several of them), still doesn't quite register in my mind because of the trauma suffered from that era. Maybe eight years, ten days will do the trick.
  19. Man, that was like the LEAST happy I've ever seen a presser after a win!
  20. I forget which one of those unsportsmanlike conduct fouls it was, but somebody definitely said something to the refs about it. When the ref was announcing the penalty, you could tell he was PISSED and was struggling to contain himself.
  21. Granted, it's been four years, but last time I was at a LaTech game, if you so much as flashed a mouth with more than 50% of your original teeth and showed minimal effort as to not spill your drink (brought in from outside) on the entry guy, they would let you in the game. The two sides might not be connected, but I bet with a little charm and grace, you could gain access to the UNT side with an alumni side ticket. Doesn't hurt to at least try.
  22. Fortunately for me, my dyslexia just kicked in. I thought you'd typed out AAC and I suddenly had nightmares of Lane Kiffin, head coach of YOUR DALLAS SMU Mustangs!
  23. I was watching the Wisconsin game over at East Side on Saturday, this image popped up a few times.
  24. Lane Kiffin to Florida?
