  1. I got mine worked out for tomorrow:
  2. I have never doubted you and tip my cap to you good sir.
  3. Call your shots, man. Don't just throw a number at me.
  4. All signs point to us playing 14 games this year. If I'm not mistaken, that's the first time in UNT history to play that many games in one year. Currently sitting at 6-3, I think we beat UTEP and Rice, but maybe not Army, so 8-4 regular season, mirroring 2013 with a 5-1 home and 3-3 road record. If we face FAU in Boca, I am not leaning toward winning that one. So that brings us to the bowl game, where we have no idea who we'll play or where, so I'm going to optimistically take the win on that. Final record: 9-5 What say you oh sage prognosticators?
  5. I'm still struggling to get the salt off my shoulder from the time George snapped at me for involuntarily chuckling at his impassioned "Hire Hank Dickenson as AD because he's my old friend!" speech during that super secret Ernie/Trip meeting in June of last year. Now I kinda wanna finally go get a twitter account and start a twitter trolling campaign with "Hey George! You FINALLY gonna make it to a game?"
  6. One of the most glorious fuckups of my time at UNT. As the season trudged on, it got funnier and funnier.
  7. They did that one time. I think it was 2014. It was a bit of a public relations nightmare given how football went down. Correction: Now that I think of it, they may have done that in 2015, which would make it even funnier. @TheTastyGreek could shed some light on this since I believe he made some sort of mass art project out of those parking passes.
  8. Can't tell if being serious or not. You do realize that's a screen shot from Animal House, right? Anywho, I found the marching band sound to which we should all aspire.
  9. In the unlikely event that we host, I assume we season ticket holders would have first right of refusal for our usual seats, right?
  10. It's been a long, long, long time since I've set foot on a volleyball court and I know a lot of rules have changed. I know that side out isn't a thing anymore. I thought that after the retirement of the side out that it's 30 points to win a game. Is that maybe only on the men's side? (My other alma mater has a rather powerful men's program that I've caught a glimpse of once or twice, and I always see 30s, not 15s.) Do they still rotate through positions or is that a thing of the past? Why does one person have a different colored jersey on? Do we not believe in opposing teams having different colored uniforms so the viewer can tell who's who?
  11. Yeah, I forgot about that factor. Riley could've contracted a raging case of AIDS, lost three of his four limbs, gotten multiple DWI arrests with a child in the car, smoked a little doobage with his receiving corps, and stolen several televisions from Walmart, and he was still gonna be the starting quarterback.
  12. Yeah, this is old news. It's been hard for me to place blame on Giovanni. He played for freaking Todd Dodge with zero offensive line and basically got hit like a Mack Truck forty times a game. I don't think I would've stuck around for four years of violent futility.
  13. Right now, my daughter says she would stay at UNT if it were the only economically viable option -- in other words, if she doesn't get into Cal Tech or the Ivies, or Rice wants to charge too much, then she'll stay at UNT rather than pay money to Texas or Oklahoma or whatever. As far as not Cal Tech or Ivy League schools go, she sees UNT on par with Texas and Oklahoma -- a standard undergrad degree. That said, she's actively pursuing admission (and scholarships) to Cal Tech, Princeton, Columbia, etc. If any of those schools come through, it's a tough sell to both her and me that UNT would be the best option. One thing not mentioned here, however, is that they have a TAMS to Eagle scholarship now, wherein those TAMS students who don't become national merit scholars (quite a few of them do), can choose to stay at UNT and enjoy a substantial scholarship package. My daughter is telling me that those students who have taken advantage of that have expressed regret because they leave TAMS, stay at UNT, and find themselves to be complete social outcasts -- too old to continue hanging out with TAMS students, too young (and too smart) to hang out with they UNT junior class peers. They also express frustration at going from a peer group where everybody is striving to be the best in the country to going to a peer group who bitches in class about having to do homework because it's not fair and did you hear about fifty cent shot night at Lou's last night.
  14. I was aware of the HOD thing, and am perplexed that CUSA website still has it listed. I checked the date and everything to make sure it was current year. Somebody in the home office isn't updating correctly. But like you said, ESPN owns all of them, so "tie-ins" are largely irrelevant or we would've played a B1G team in 2013. That game showed me that affiliations outside the playoff and NY6 (even those tie-ins really aren't anymore) are meaningless.
  15. This is the best I can find: However, the Heart of Dallas website says that the game is B1G vs. Big 12, so I don't know if CUSA is correct in saying it has a tie-in to HOD anymore, leaving us with a whopping five for sure bowl games, none of which are for sure against P5 opponents. In all honesty, outside the Heart of Dallas and Independence, I've never really even heard of any of these games. It's good I guess that the number of bowl games has increased so much that we know for sure we're bowling in early November, but some of the luster has certainly worn off for me. It's hard for me to get excited about playing Wyoming in the Bahama Bowl in front of 12,000 people (last year's approximate attendance).
  16. I honestly can't figure out why bowl projections even exist. It's not like the old days where the Big 10 winner would play the Pac-10 winner in the Rose Bowl. There is little rhyme or reason for any of the bowl placements anymore. It's damn near random, so just sit back, relax, and wait for the invitation to arrive. We'll go where we go.
  17. At FAU for the CUSA conference championship game, then Boca Raton Bowl vs. FAU.
  18. The more I read about this guy, the more he seems like a hell of a stand up human being.
  19. Nah. Intent was that I just don't care one way or the other if they were old school Penn State or wrap a bunch of aluminum foil into a jersey. I've seen some people get real bent out of shape over uniforms here, and I find it an odd thing to be so passionate about. I mean hell, I lived through 1970s major league baseball.
  20. I think the only reason they would is that they don't have a Todd Dodge fighting to keep his job. Not sure how motivating a temporary Mike Price fix, who's talking publicly about how gawdawful his team is, will be.
  21. I have no particular dislike for UTEP. I spent so much time in El Paso during my former life that I must've gotten Juarez syndrome -- I grew to kinda like the place. Now then, teams I would do dirty: UTSA -- I'd introduce them to entirely new and unforeseen uses for chicken thigh grease SMU -- Wanna play cornhole on the Boulevard? Here, bend over while I break out my lucky horseshoe. Any team coached by Lane Kiffin -- Hey boy! Who's a good boy! C'mere boy! Wanna treat big fella? I got a one-way ticket to South Bend! C'mon big fella! Oooohhh. You want some belly rubs on the tarmac?
  22. Against arguably the worst team in the country this year, it's really a no-win situation. You beat them by 70, you're the 200 pound bully beating up on the 98 pound weakling who's three grades below you. Lose to them, and you just got your ass kicked by the 98-pound weakling's 11-year-old sister.
  23. Uniform talk. All day every day. People get excited or pissed off or shake fists and scream how much better it was when "I went to school here." Wanna know what gets my football boner aching to paddle the canoe? This.
