  1. No problem. I edited my post to acknowledge Mrs. Eulessismore too. She's always got the woman's touch with the side dishes. I had to be careful because I could've easily eaten that entire container of pickled okra in one go.
  2. I can't put my finger on the reason, but it was probably the best we've had this year. My daughter thanks you profusely for stopping by and leaving cookies. Mr. and Mrs. Eulessismore brought some righteous ribs and brisket from my favorite area BBQ joint -- North Main BBQ. Getting into the parking lot was a big hassle though. Then the police and the parking attendants seemingly intentionally split up our three vehicles so we ended up with only one space rather than the usual three. Nonetheless, it was a good time. It was a serious bonus for me as I didn't know if I was gonna' make it until Friday. For those who are wondering, my daughter was perfectly fine for the rest of the day. Probably my mistake for making her wear that turtleneck.
  3. I was thinking more along the lines that we may want to go light bulb shopping. Perhaps next time we could upgrade our shopping to a legitimate hardware store instead of Dollar General.
  4. I think it's more productive to look forward rather than backward. I'm of the opinion that keeping the old guard around would have been even more detrimental to the program than our current situation. Instead, I'll keep hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel in future incarnations of this program.
  5. 17.5? That's it? Man, WKU must really suck!
  6. I give you the Dallas Diamonds women's professional football team. {insert vile pun about spread offense here}
  7. True, but that money is still coming from students and donors. The only justification I can see is if they fall short in private donor fund raising and have to bond the thing out backed by ticket sales. Otherwise, the two have no relationship with each other.
  8. Explain to me why ticket prices would go up in a new stadium. The thing will be paid for by students and private donors, the latter group probably getting the lion's share of the luxury boxes and good seats. As for the rest of the place, it's not like player salaries are going up. If the product on the field continues to provide fodder for drinking games (I simply couldn't keep up with my 1 beer per opposing touchdown routine), then there might be a brief spike in demand, but it won't be like people have to line up in a lottery for the right to by GA tickets. So the stadium will have been paid for, demand will be roughly the same, what's there to drive the ticket prices up?
  9. Is it home and home against same division and every other year against other division?
  10. Fixed that for you.
  11. Wait. I'm getting confused. When we say 400 are we talking about points allowed or Mark Mangino's waist size?
  12. You. Me. Guyana. Ice cold Kool-aid
  13. The Good Lord Himself could personally come down from on high and advise this staff to take a snap under center, only to be rebuked and sent packing back to the clouds. Ego? Blind faith? Refusal to accept fallibility? I dub thee Pope Dodge. Infallible strategist incarnate on Earth.
  14. Would that be the June Joneses?
  15. The day you see that at UNT will be the day we have a different coach. Period. End of story. No further discussion.
  16. Upon getting blown out by Texas Tech Oh to only know the pain of the rolling snowball for a single day.
  17. Anything other than 4 years isn't right? Is going 2-46 right?
  18. Good. So I won't be the patron saint, but at least the party doesn't have to end!
  19. Less than a five figure contribution? Let us show you the door!
  20. Basketball's not my sport. I don't really dig it. I do, however, feel compelled to go to some games this year. In order to give myself incentive to do so, I'm going to start the trend of Saturday basketball tailgating. To my knowledge, nobody else in the nation does it. I'm going to be the first. I'll probably be a lone person out in the parking lot for a while, but I bet I can recruit some converts. Meanwhile, I think it was probably the best Tasty and crew tailgate of the season today. The parking lot experience really does help ease the pain.
  21. Actually I knew of it, but as far as I could tell, it was just a meaningless title on another basketball game. I never saw anything special or different about that day from any other.
  22. I'm going to prove beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt that having the crappiest football in the nation is better than having no football at all. Here goes...... What the hell is a homecoming bonfire and why would anybody want to light up something that big???? If you further want to see the long-term effects of going to a commuter school....... What the hell is a homecoming???? Seriously. I've never seen a homecoming in my life. Not in high school, not in college. Totally new and foreign concept to me.
  23. I used to schedule my El Paso business trips around the Diablos' schedule. Man, what a crappy stadium, crappy league, but unimaginably good time! I don't think they have 25c dogs any more, but they still have $1 beer Thirsty Thursdays! I went to one game once on another day of the week, and they announced that if the Diablos accomplished (insert random baseball feat here) during the next inning that beers would be $1 for the duration of the game. You've never seen such rabid cheering for an independent league baseball team! Actually, I know more than a few El Pasoans who follow the Diablos as if they were a real team. When they made the playoffs last year it was kind of a big deal to some locals.
  24. Is Fitzgerald not a senior this year?
  25. Baseball is a series of minute strategies played out in front of an ADD world. It takes patience to watch, but it's what I grew up with. I'll watch any baseball I can get to. I watch collegiate summer league, college ball, minor league ball, major league ball. Hell, we've even been to a couple games for this reallllly crappy league here called the Continental League. My daughter and I went in May, and I swear there were less than thirty people in the stands. We got about 6 balls from that game! Contrarily, I can't stand basketball. To me, if you had the 1998 Chicago Bulls playing against Denton ISD elementary school, the score would be tied with two minutes left, and the game would be decided in a never ending series of intentional fouls leading to a free throw contest. I know that's not the reality of the game, but I wasn't brought up watching basketball, so it bores me more than watching the paint dry on a set of chess pieces. However, if you like basketball, more power to you. To each their own in their sporting tastes, and I think it's a bit low class to insult the taste of others Rick. Please note that I otherwise greatly respect your posts and efforts towards UNT athletics.
