  1. Well that's one way to get 'em in here. Take 'em to basketball games instead! "Um...yeah!! Our whole program is this good!"
  2. I kinda' took that as a given. I'm trying to convince myself that the athletic program overall is sellable.
  3. Nah. Since I bring the kid with me to all of these things, and judging by her reaction of sheer terror the first football game when we tried to sit in the student section, I think we would need a more genteel environment.
  4. We (Irvine) used to mop the floor with Boise St in basketball when they were in the Big West. I listened to a couple games online and their announcer would constantly lament that they sucked because of the Big West officiating crews. So I would argue that unlike football, they haven't built a consistently decent basketball program yet. Also, unlike the other nine members of the MWC, they don't have baseball. We tend to look at football and football only when thinking about conferences, but the conference commissioners want well rounded programs. If there's anything UNT has going for it, it's women's soccer. That would actually be a nice selling point. Now about that baseball..... Oh, and what's hockey gonna' do for us? Get us entrance into North Dakota State's conference?
  5. That's the go forth and multiply line, right? So that's an edict to reproduce. What about when you're in your 50s and you're not gonna' have any more kids?
  6. I have a serious, non-snarky question for those who believe that marriage is a sacred institution originated by God. Is sex a marital duty?
  7. Someone's got to hold the pee cups.
  8. Holy crap! You think we're taking some beat downs in football now? Can you imagine trying to compete in that conference!?!? Honestly, until we can win some football games (that's plural), we don't have any business looking anywhere. The WAC's no improvement, the MWC is, in my opinion, too much of a leap, and Conference USA will probably continue to shun us as long as SMUt has anything to say about it.
  9. How about for every million dollars pledged, he'll have one snap under center?
  10. I really look forward to someday rejoining the world and visiting the sites of our fellow SBC teams. I hear tell the surround area of MTSU is pretty cool.
  11. Is that thirty million United States dollars?
  12. I plan on being out there around 8AM firing up the smoker. Beer. It's not just for lunch anymore!
  13. Can you blame him?
  14. I await the next Sarah Silverman music video -- I'm #$@#ing Obama.
  15. The OOC schedule for the foreseeable future is real easy. I don't have to go to any websites or anything. It goes like this: Week 1: Someone we can't beat on the road (KA-CHING!) Week 2: Someone we should beat but don't at home (ka-ching!) Week 3: Someone we can't beat on the road (KAAAAAA-CHING!) Week 4: Someone we can't beat on the road (Sweet! We can cover expenses this year!) Army may have been a suitable team to schedule at the time the deal was made, but even they've made progress.
  16. I believe, possibly wrongly, that this athletic department fancies itself to be up there with the big boys of the SEC and is therefore falling victim to the fallacy of the 80/20 rule. I don't know if that's any one person's doing. In fact, hearing tales of the no tailgating, no event athletics of the past, I'd say the current administration has done some pretty astounding things. When it comes to retention and long run revenues, however, I think the ball's being a bit fumbled if not outright dropped.
  17. Is it of flawless clarity and color graded D? I only accept such rocks in double digit carats.
  18. Your words intrigue me. I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.
  19. WKU notwithstanding, the only thing making stops on opponents this year is the back end of our endzone...and Tobe. But unfortunately, Tobe can't play all 11 defensive positions.
  20. I'm really beginning to think that Mizzou and Tech are anomalies. I don't know of any other team that so stubbornly refuses to mix up their offense and has success. If the spread were that great, we'd see it in the NFL. We do see it occasionally at that level, but never as a sole means to offense. I don't know what to say about the defense except, "Hey! Pssst!!! Over here!! Football goes in two directions!! You have a defense to look after too!" ETA -- I wasn't here for it, but from what I read, and what I hear, Dickey was a cancer to the program.
  21. Wait, we can win at something?
  22. I don't know what inside joke I'm missing, but taking over the entire forum with this crap is enough.
  23. Going by last year's win-loss records, if a single bowl game is added to this year's mix, it would be a mathematical certainty that there wouldn't be enough qualifying teams.
