Troy Adding New Package: Qb Under Center
oldguystudent replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Fourth quarter, one second left on the clock. Ball on the 1/256 inch line. UNT down by five points. Fourth down. The UNT offense will do one of only two things: 1) The shotgun formation 2) Kick a field goal 50/50 shot as to which one they'll choose. -
I don't have FCS. Had to look up what channel it is. Great exposure. Anyhoo, over on the Big West boards, Pacific got into the CIT. Here's what one fan had to say about it.

Bataille Imposes New Requirement For P C
oldguystudent replied to DallasGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I think it's interesting that the fund went from $200,000 to $28,000 when they dropped the requirement for contributions. What does that say about where the donors want their money to go? Seems like an odd time to go pushing the donors around when many are watching their investment accounts go down like the 2008 UNT defensive line. That said, were I a donor, I'd simply redirect my checks. I'm going to agree with the other here and speculate that a UNT diploma must come wrapped about a big bottle of WHINE. There's no other explanation for this being such a big deal. -
Check back in two weeks and tell me who won the CIT without having to google it. Tell me what TV stations are covering this illustrious event. Now tell me why we should pay tens of thousands of dollars to participate in it. Oh, yeah. I forgot. Idaho's passing us by!!!!! Sometimes NOT buying into something like this is as much advancement for a program as playing in it.

Bataille Imposes New Requirement For P C

I ask this question honestly. I have never heard of the President's Council before your post. Other than obtaining another fancy title, what does membership in the President's Council get you? If it is indeed nothing more than a fancy title, then whoopdy do. Quit and start writing checks directly to the athletic department. -
Should Football Eliminate The Coin Toss?

I vote for the sudden death shootout. Put a goalie in the uprights, and start kicking. -
There technically are no subs in baseball -- only replacements. One you leave a game, you can't come back. Also, the manager can only come to the mound once before he is required to take out the pitcher. Really adds to the strategy, but I do admit it slows things down for the casual fan. You don't really want position players trying to pitch anyways. Remember the fiasco when Jose Canseco tried to do it in Texas?

Many times, people have tried to refute my argument that a basketball game should consist of sending the teams out on a 4-mile run, then bring them back and have them engage in a 2-minute flurry of elbowing each other and shooting free throws. People have tried to insist that the first 38 minutes of any given basketball game matter. Then we go to the pit. And guess what? We get a tie score with 2 minutes left, and a flurry of elbowing each other and shooting free throws. If baseball should only be three innings, those three innings should be the 5th 6th and 7th. The first four are necessary because they create the difference in pitcher stamina in the next three which sets up the moxie of the last two.

Any Of Our Coaches Go To This Thing

I vote for these. -
On the other hand, I've got family in Wisconsin, and those northerners are frickin' crazy! They revel in exposure to cold temperatures. A good day for people up in Wisconsin is a day out on the lake when they have to drink their beer faster than it can freeze in the frigid artic temperatures. They're not human I tells ya.

Until games start selling out on a consistent basis, then substantially increased ticket prices aren't really merited, are they? Supply and demand and all that. I think my tolerance, assuming I'm gainfully employed again, would be in the $35 range for your standard alumni side seat.

Pfft! Really? Depends on who you ask. Personally, I find it very centrally located.

Given that Minnesota rarely sees temps on this side of zero during football season, I'm going to give them a pass on my criticisms of that design. Ok. Here goes. Beautiful building, but it doesn't look like a football stadium to me. It looks more like a fancy aquarium where one goes to glance at the fish through a thick pane of glass while sucking down mid-grade wine and listening to NPR approved jazz. The suites look like hotel rooms with the furniture centered around the flat screen TV. The lounge is a see and be seen kind of place, again centered around TVs. If I want that kind of environment, I'll go sit in the Hilton sports bar. If I'm going to pay who knows how much for a ticket ($288 million? Those are gonna' be some spensive tix!), I want to BE at the game, not observe it from afar through glass like some kind of mythical deity.

Possible New Bowl For The Sun Belt

Maybe they'll let us go on an accrual basis over a period of several years. -
Possible New Bowl For The Sun Belt

Part of me wonders about the dichotomy of UNT fans who say the fans and program are complacent and apathetic with no sight on higher standards, yet still clamor for any post season bid regardless of how manufactured or completely irrelevant. The hopes for joining some alphabet soup tournament conjured up by some website on the basketball thread is a good example of this. -

They need a better form. Would I go? This year? No. By the time they get the thing off the ground and I've graduated and have money again? Sure. Would I buy a hotel/ticket/theme park package? Without knowing any details? Where's the choice for maybe? I'd be interested in a ticket/airfare/hotel deal, but I don't need the giant mouse ears force fed to me thank you veddy much.
