  1. < insert deity of your choice and about 15 exclamation points here > Really!?!?!?!? Again!?!?!?
  2. Happy birthday man. Sorry I missed you.
  3. A couple questions about concealed handguns in a shooting spree situation. 1) If the CHL holder is male, and it's a typical 90 bazillion degree late spring or early fall Texas day, where does he conceal his weapon? 2) If the CHL holder is female, and she holds the weapon in her purse, which is lying on the floor next to her desk, how quickly can she react to the situation?
  4. Honest non-snarky question. Is he equally capable of scrambling to both the strong and weak side?
  5. Wow. That's $3333-4000 per game for a suite. It better come with Sunday morning maid service!
  6. Last year, the day before I quit working, I bought a liter of Appleton Estate 12yo rum in the Montego Bay airport. I drank maybe three shots of it, and used the rest for banana bread. Only a couple drams left now. I'm accepting liquid ingredient donations for the coming football season. ETA -- Missed all of you today. I tried to get there. Really I did. I don't know if Tasty relayed the frustration in my voice. It just wasn't to be. Anybody care to join me for some redneck bleacher action at softball next weekend?
  7. Did we win?
  8. My daughter saw that grass berm in the endzone and asked if we can catch footballs like we do foul balls at baseball games!
  9. Not looking good for me.
  10. What's that? Is it something like the big building that gets lit up in burnt orange in Austin every week?
  11. On that kind of forecasted schedule, they should be bonding out the stadium, breaking ground, and lining up some SEC coaching staffs for around 2015. $25 million by 2020? Really? That's a LOT more than we're used to 'round these here parts.
  12. Well sure, you'll beer there, but how much beer will there beer?
  13. I told my daughter that a game is coming up in which UNT is absolutely guaranteed to win. She said, "How is that even possible?" I love kids!
  14. Man, and I really liked my response to the theme, but we invariably had to go diving in the muck, didn't we?
  15. Johnny, your typical Denton Denizon, decides to head over to Fouts Field to catch a college football game. 1959 -- Johnny watches coach Odus Mitchell lead the North Texas State Eagles to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and an appearance in the 1959 Sun Bowl. Johnny heads to the square to celebrate with some ice cream and soda. 2009 -- Johnny aspires to watch the North Texas Mean Green lose by less than 45 points and be "competitive". He hopes for all of 3 wins on the year, and thanks the good Lord for coolers in the parking lot.
  16. I always thought walking IN my front door was a risk of violence!
  17. Two expressed probabilities we're trying to disprove: 1: Other substances were involved 2: It was a LOT of marijuana Tough stats to find. From whitehousedrugpolicy.gov, I found the following: From 1991-1998, an average of 5.35% of all murders were drug related. Drug related is defined as those murders that occurred specifically during a narcotics felony, such as drug trafficking or manufacturing. In 1991, 3% of federal prisoners and 5% of state prisoners who had committed murder did so to obtain money to buy drugs. What is not delineated in these statistics are: 1: Of all drug related crimes, what percentage are marijuana related. 2: Of all marijuana related crimes, what amounts were involved. Nothing proven or disproven so far Next up, from a report from the USDOJ on marijuana in Washington DC: Direct correlation to other substances and increased violence in the DC area. However, here and here are actual news stories of murders over small quantities of marijuana. One in 2007 in the UK and one in 2008 in Toronto. I'm honestly not searching to support one side or the other. I can't find any definitive answers one way or the other. I do, however, somewhat resent the comment that those of us who made the conjectures listed are merely taking our thoughts from watching CSI. I would also like to point out that even for law enforcement officers, anecdote does not equate to evidence or data when trying to look at the bigger picture. My only conclusion is that marijuana related murder does happen in cases of both small and large quantities, but the ratio of those two cannot be determined. Finally, for those who support continued prohibition, check this out:
  18. Granola eating hippies, the lot of them! They're trying to push Al Gore's agenda beyond the boundaries of earth! What's next? Milky Way warming!?!? Mmmmm....warm Milky Way........< drool >
  19. I have to questions. 1: Do you get paid for time in court? 2: I notice that a lot of police officers take off duty second jobs at banks or other private security venues. Doesn't police work pay fairly decent once you've got a few years in? Is the extra cash of a part-time job worth the perpetual sleep deprivation and separation from family? I ask because during my brief stint in the finance world, we worked 90-hour weeks, and I wouldn't go back to that for any amount of money. I certainly wouldn't have gone looking for more work on top of it.
  20. Depends. How much does your cooler hold?
  21. I'm guessing two possibilities: A) Other substances involved B ) It was a LOT of pot
  22. I looked that up. Illegal in Oklahoma, but no statutory prohibition in Louisiana! You two duel, the rest of us will bet on the outcome in the riverboats! It's a win-win!
  23. I we're using her as a data sample, I wouldn't be so sure.
  24. Lazer's an unemployed, non-enrolled bum for the next few weeks. If he's not swimming in a kiddie pool full of vodka and jello every morning right now, I'd be direly disappointed.
