I asked a couple of British acquaintances to explain that one to me, and it's set up such that in theory, some club team whose roster is comprised of 11 men from the local pub who don't fall down too often after a few pints could theoretically rise to the ranks of Manchester United. Of course, the community park they play in with it's 3 rows of metal bleachers would need an upgrade, but still, it's possible in theory. So along those lines, it would theoretically be possible for the Kilgore College Rangers to rise to the level of BCS national champion. I don't think it's at all viable, but it sure would be interesting. *As a total hijacking side note, while I was looking up the name of a Texas JC football team, I noticed that JC football is pretty much a LOT of teams in California vs. a few teams in the other 49 states. Why is that? Ironic too since California has dumped so many of its 4-year college football programs. Apologies in advance. I suppose this question is only for people who give a rat's ass about JC football in California.

Are you so quick to put responsibility of the massive unemployment of 1982 squarely on the shoulders of Ronald Reagan or might the laughable administration of Jimmy Carter have had something to do with it? Macro economics move slowly, so I don't know that you can say the 9.5% unemployment rate (and rising!) is result of the questionable stimulus package of the Obama administration. Check back in 2011 or so. Hell, even Todd Dodge got two years of miserable performance with the whole bare cupboard mantra.

Bobby Lozano Murder Trail
oldguystudent replied to NT03's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I post this knowing nothing about the case, the people involved, or the extenuating circumstances of the case: Really? Your job is reason for leniency in a murder case? I rescued a couple dogs in my life, can I knock a couple years off my sentence if I blow up an elementary school? No disrespect to Rudy or Emmett intended on this. I just feel that when you're talking about a crime of this magnitude, your job, your position in the community, the amount you give to your local PTA or the delicious flavor of your bake sale muffins should be completely irrelevant to judgment or sentencing guidelines. -
I've always kind of advocated a further division of football anyway. Comparing UT to UNT is a farce, and we all know it deep down. That said, I love this concept: That allows for the Utahs, TCUs and Boises of the world to move up, and keeps the Baylors, Dukes, and Syracuses of the world on their toes.

I'm not sure if it was posted on here, or if one of my friends on Facebook posted it, but Michael Huckabee believes that Obama is absolutely a natural born US citizen. The way he sees it is that if Obama were born abroad, Hillary Clinton's team most certainly would have uncovered it long before the general election in November.

Nah. She's the perfect illustration of entitlement, but I don't know that it's necessarily related to the government. Some of the things I see in class from my obviously well enough to do classmates tell me that kids born in the 80s were simply raised by their parents to believe that they deserve everything in return for nothing. So in my thoughtless overly compassionate liberal opinion, I think it's more a generational thing that it is a welfare state thing.

It occurs to me that in 2015 and 2017, it's like getting a bonus home game on our schedule. Assuming we continue with the 6 home games in coming years, that's a full 7 games to attend. That's pretty sweet. Now let's get TCU in on this.

It's impressive that they've got four BCS teams coming to play in their joint on multiple occasions.

Touche! I was actually referring to next year's cookout though!

Sorry I missed it. The kid's been in California for the past 5 weeks, and she flew back to Texas today. I'll try to get my priorities set straight next year.

The recently NCAA approved women's sand volleyball would probably bring in a few bucks. -

Total revenue for all men's teams, excluding football and basketball is $1,894,301. This includes baseball, track, fencing, soccer, and wrestling. The $208,528 is operating expenses. I'm not sure what that covers, but it sure as heck doesn't cover Dave Serrano's salary. He left a job at Irvine that pays over $250,000 for the Fullerton job. In addition, he has 3 full time assistant coaches. There is no way you've got a full-time coaching staff of four people, 11.7 scholarships, travel and equipment for 30 players, and pay out only a grand total of $208,528. -

And So It Begins

USC doesn't even average 1000 attendance. Fullerton is approaching 3000 for it's Friday home games. West coast college parks are tiny. They had to put in temporary bleachers in Irvine this year to host a regional. The place only has 900 seats, and it's one of the nicest stadiums in the state. It's a bit of an ordeal every year because there has to be a couple west coast regionals, and Fullerton, Long Beach (who plays in a minor league park) and San Diego State are the only parks that are built to host. If you have a year where at least two of those teams aren't kicking ass, you've got a facilities problem. Not too long ago, 2006 if I recall, Pepperdine hosted and had people literally sitting on the grass. And they didn't even have lights! So to summarize, outside the players' families and a few hundred nutjobs like me who actually follow the sport, nobody much watches college baseball in California. -

It is in the SEC, but that's it. Total money pit everywhere else. But to be fair, name the revenue sport at any mid-major school. Does football make a profit at UNT? I'd be pretty surprised. -
W A C Has N O Interest In Expansion

I'd have to go back and look, but didn't Boise have to build up a couple perfect or near perfect seasons in 2004 and 2005 before anybody would give them a BCS look? -

There it is! I didn't think of that! Why yes, yes he is, and his AIDS ridden blood contaminated the pool in the 1988 Olympics and he didn't say a thing about it to anybody!
