  1. I believe that may still be a sensitive choice for words for some around here.
  2. OK. Here goes. I have nothing personally against Riley Dodge. He played tough through adversity. That said, I'm not sad to see a clean slate next year without any perceived hint of past administrations hanging over the team like a cloud, deserved or not.
  3. UNT keeps winning, and it's actually gonna' get harder to schedule home and homes for a few years. Johnny's gonna' have to become a bit of a road warrior and take down a few more LSUs, then the fun in Denton can begin.
  4. UNLV, cuz, dude! Vegas! Cheap, easy flights, plentiful rooms, coeds that are "just working my way through college," and they WILL serve beer in the stands!
  5. This is a HUGE 20 minute stretch coming up!
  6. That's the first time I've even seen or even conceived of something like that. Look, I know the Green Brigade is supposed to be something special, and I don't mean to denigrate the kids who participate in it, but I've got to agree that watching them stand still and play the same repertoire of three songs every game is about as exciting as Olympic mixed doubles curling.
  7. It's enough just to be competitive in the games, right?
  8. tigerdroppings is making no excuses. They're embarrassed, but not rationalizing.
  9. Good things are happening!
  10. Jeebus! Can they? Will they?
  11. It's all about stamina now. Are they in good enough shape to run with LSU for the next 20 minutes?
  12. I happened upon the Jets game yesterday and noticed that they make a darker shade of green work (even though they were in road whites yesterday, they showed highlights from previous games). Not sure what it is. More contrast with the white on the uniform? Just better cameras?
  13. Including yesterday's New Orleans Bowl victory for Troy, the belt went 5-32 OOC this season for a .135 winning percentage. The wins came against 2-9 Bowling Green, FCS Austin Peay and Southeastern Lousiana, 4-8 UAB and Ohio. Only a single victory against a winning FBS team. Put as much lipstick on this thing as you want, but that's pretty piss poor performance as a conference.
  14. No. All I'm gonna' say further on the matter is that until this stint at UNT for grad school, I had never attended a school at any level that had football.
  15. When I was in HS, we didn't have football.
  16. Is their coach looking for a college gig? What? Too soon?
  17. I'm sorry guys. I can't resist. I have to get in a good natured rib. So I'm amused that the biggest supporters of letting the free market determine the allocation of resources are suddenly miffed when they get priced out of their entitlements (the deck). OK. Really. Just a friendly jab on that. I did the math on those club seats, and I too fail to see the value in them. (Although I'm probably going to get pummeled for saying that, because I'm supposed to see it as a contribution to the educational opportunities of the underprivileged et al). Anyhoo, one has to wonder about the people in their seats during the game strategy. I question if more people will physically leave the stadium periodically to refill their, um, spirits rather than taking a short walk down to the deck. I've also got to say that I always had a soft spot for the view of several hundred people hanging out on the deck during a game. It looked really cool to me.
  18. Good. Somebody to carry on the fine Oklahoma brewing tradition. Rock on little dude. Rock on.
  19. The Kansas St coaches seemed to have disagreed with you. I believe the quote walking out of the booth was something along the lines of, "I don't care what the scoreboard says. You guys beat us today."
  20. Someone refresh my memory. Weren't fans in NY spitting on and spilling beer on Cliff Lee's wife during the playoffs? I didn't think he'd play for that team for any amount of money.
  21. Widen the seats in the all-you-can eat home-run porch?
  22. This is all well and good, but with the schedule as it currently stands, it's unreasonable to look for an at-large bid. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
  23. I can't see that they've played an FBS team yet. Not on the schedule for next year either. 2009 was literally high school opponents. 2010 was D2 and FCS. 2011 looks like mostly FCS. Western Kentucky was national champion in FCS not too long ago. Doesn't necessarily translate into FBS success. I'm still trying to figure out how they get to play this schedule. I asked on the general sunbelt board, but got no answer.
  24. I just learned that since 1980, UNT and UTA have played 38 times. UNT with 19 wins, UTA with 19 wins. UNT averaged 82 ppg, UTA averaged 81 ppg. Wow. I don't know that I've ever seen such an evenly matched rivalry.
