The solution is clearly to watch the game while in class on the never dropped signal of the Apogee UNT network.
-
I actually did consider that, but a minor sitting at the bar and whatnot can get a little sketchy.

Someday, when I'm doing your taxes, and I miss a huge deduction, then screw up your kids' inheritance putting the money in the wrong kind of trust, you'll be OK with it because I watched the FIU game on ESPN3, right?

The kid got bored yesterday and I asked her what she wanted to do. Even though we don't live in Denton, she immediately demanded lunch at Love Shack followed by ice cream at Beth Marie's. The kid loves Denton. (Side Note) There was live music at 1pm at Love Shack in which George Dunham was scheduled to sit in for a set, but we finished eating at 12:55, and kinda' got the hint to get out because people were waiting for our table. So that's a minor criticism. There was really no way we could've stuck around for the music.

I really don't know what to expect this season in terms of the W-L columns. What I do expect is tighter execution, a complete lack of deer in the headlights staring at the sideline with two seconds left on the play clock, quick and purposeful decision making in the fourth quarter, some actual tackling on defense, a LOT less embarrassment and no laughing at rudimentary play calling from the opposing sideline. There is talent on this team, but the overall size of the line will likely still be an issue, so plays on offense will have to go off really quickly, and the secondary on defense will have to constantly be on their toes. Like I said earlier, I really look forward to watching my very first UNT football game on September 10th. Unfortunately, I'll be in class on Thursday, so I won't get to watch or listen to that game.

I don't know why I've picked up on this story because I've never been there, I've never tubed down the river, and I really don't care. For some reason, I just find it fascinating. UNT90 and KRAM are looking at it from the perspective of government intervention causing loss of area revenue and tax base. Honestly, that didn't even occur to me. I immediately went into "how could one circumvent this?" mode. As for no cups, probably no red cups, but sports bottles would be fine as they're not disposable. Anyhoo, Texas continues to befuddle me. I can't take a beer from my lawn (private) to the sidewalk (public), but I can drink myself silly floating down a river?

It's not a ban on alcohol. It's a ban on disposable containers. I see business opportunity in rigging small, chilled kegs that float and charging a documented deposit for the container to show that it's not disposable in addition to the rental fee and price of beer to fill them. Set up a collection point at the down river public access so the tuber can get his deposit back without trudging back upstream.

I'll be in class learning how to effectively avoid paying taxes.

Answers for parking/tailgating
oldguystudent replied to Eastwood Eagle's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
The grill size says it should be less than 2 feet in diameter, which is very different from must be. -
Answers for parking/tailgating
oldguystudent replied to Eastwood Eagle's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
The trend of banning tailgating during games. If parking as a resource becomes so scarce, then I get it. Otherwise, not so much. I don't think anybody here against it takes that side because somebody got shot at a 49er game. I think they take that side because that's not how they do game day, so that's not how others should do game day. Until sellouts are a regular thing, and parking spaces are at a premium, I really don't care what people do so long as they don't get behind the wheel and run me over. -

I sure hope so. Can't count how many piles of coal I've had to leave on the asphalt because the "hot coals" cans had plastic trash bags lining them. -
BOR approves $1 million I-35E pedestrian bridge
oldguystudent replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
The million dollar bridge, constructed from a papier-mâché of 10,000 hundred dollar bills was deemed too wrinkled for general use. I kid, I kid! -
I'm curious. What kind of upgrades for the super pit do people want? With its 10,000 seats, certainly not capacity growth. I would guess relocating the press section from that premium real estate covering all of center court on the student side and luxury suites?

The challenge of marketing
oldguystudent replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
As a former resident of Frisco, clearly not of Texas origin guy, I went to a few Roughrider games and found them intolerable. There were two main groups of fans. 1) The corporate crowd looking down on everyone from their party suites to see and be seen 2) Families. Lots and lots and lots of families Now this is Frisco. I get the family thing, but I never saw any baseball at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. It was inning after inning after inning of kids twirling around bats blindfolded, hula hooping, hopping around in gunny sacks. People splashing in the outfield pool. Trophy chicks flashing cans of Coors Light from the suite decks. Maybe this is what the market wants and demands. Maybe this is how you get butts in the seats and dollars in the ticket office. All I know is that I'm looking forward to watching UNT play football for the very first time. You can keep the dot races in Frisco. -
Clearly, this is a case, with LSU in a recent downward spiral, of bulking up the western division in baseball. A&M takes the division crown its first year. (That was for you, KRAM)

A couple of Notes from the UNT Naming Right Press Conference
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
If that's true, then I'd prefer they didn't. Lupton has some good qualities, but if you find yourself in certain parts of it, you can't see the field at all. I don't mean slightly obstructed. I mean you paid for a ticket, and you seriously can't see the field. You can hear it, but not see it. Would not build again. -
A couple of Notes from the UNT Naming Right Press Conference
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
For all things UNT baseball, see here, here, and here. The Sun Belt is to NCAA baseball as the Mountain West is to football. The #7 conference knocking on the door of the Big Six (SEC, Big XII, Pac-10, ACC, CUSA, Big West). -
New UNT Stadium Naming rights - Apogee
oldguystudent replied to dml7007's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know. I'm not quite sure if the shade of green is right and it doesn't seem to quite match my shoes. But seriously, even with the time value of money taken into consideration, this is a great deal for UNT. It's a million bucks a year that wasn't there yesterday. That anyone could find fault with that is pretty befuddling to me. Wait. All things considered, it really isn't. -
McCarney pushing UNT to be physical
oldguystudent replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Has anyone ever seen UNT90 shopping for shoes? Ohhh yes! -
Most of the banner ads on UNT are Google generated, so it kinda' makes sense. I hear tell that Harry has to power to turn specific ones off though.
