  1. So I ran into Darrell Dickey and Todd Dodge sharing a double order of taquitos at Chico's the other day.
  2. Cattleman's is really good. If you want to get just a tad bit more spendy and don't have kids along, drive in the other direction to the New Mexico border and enjoy steaks hand cut to order and a wine list that will blow your mind at Billy Crews.
  3. Has Tasty gone to work for CUSA and traveled down to sell the TV rights to Mexia?
  4. Son, we've got things to do, places to go, and tacos to eat! El Paso has some of the best little hole in the wall Mexican joints in the country. Chico's isn't one of those joints, but overall El Paso Mexican food is amazing.
  5. The only image I ever want to have of Karl Benson is one of him in my rear view mirror. Whatever the opposite of the midas touch is, he's got it with conferences.
  6. Oh, no! I wasn't speaking to you on that at all! I was talking about things I read last year, like comments on newspaper articles about In N Out coming, or the Frisco message board. There was a LOT of hatred!
  7. Our boner obsession with In N Out is because that's what we grew up eating with our friends, hanging out there in high school, making late night runs in college. It's the ultimate comfort food for Californians because of the memories that come with the burger. Conversely, I don't get the angry obsession against In N Out that many Texans have. If you don't like it, that's cool, but don't come down so hard on the free market that places a business entity in an area with a population who enthusiastically supports it. Many of the posts I read last year on various online outlets about In N Out, you'd think the state was being invaded by a standing army of granola crunching lesbian liberals hell bent on corrupting all the children.
  8. Yeah, I never much got into Chico's, but the years I spent tooling around El Paso as part of my territory, I grew to love the town, the food, and the people. I really look forward to getting back out there.
  9. I doubt Rick is done with this move. I don't know what else lies on the horizon, but no way is Rick gonna just lie back and stop working tirelessly for the advancement of the department.
  10. I laugh if only to keep from crying. I didn't see a win until last year against Indiana. It took me a couple more wins to become comfortable with the concept. I'm sorry you were in school when you were.
  11. 1) Baseball 2) Access to throwback baseball jerseys from the 80s (was looking for those at the garage sale) 3) Club level seating with a bar at the baseball stadium 4) Tailgating for big Friday night series openers at baseball 5) A regular season road trip and a bowl game next season in our farewell tour of the belt
  12. I commented earlier that in my time in Denton, I've seen five games against CUSA opponents. In those five games, all of them losses, the opposition has outscored us 254-124. A ratio greater than 2:1. Two of those games were last year with an actual coach on the sideline, but, of course, one was against a stacked near BCS Houston team that won't be in the conference when we arrive. So, my question is this. In 2013, do we take the conference by storm, accept a middle of the pack finish, or start climbing our way up from the bottom?
  13. Looking at google maps, there is plenty of space for a baseball stadium in the lot behind the softball field. I am quite certain a team is coming and that that spot is where the stadium will be. CUSA is a SERIOUS baseball conference. We go baseball in that conference, and there can be no crappy erector set stadiums.
  14. I see your rat's ass and raise you a damn. Wait..No..No....As Clark Gable once said, I never give my damns out.
  15. I can count five games against CUSA opponents since I came to Denton and we got utterly pummeled in all of them. Reverse that by 2013, and you can put Central University of North Texas in pink glitter comic sans font on the helmet with a ribbon for all I care.
  16. Those rules would still have resulted in LSU/Alabama last year. No real change whatsoever.
  17. Jack strap stickers?
  18. Now there's a brilliant plan to attract quality programs. Crappy FCS schools, no television contract, one crappy bowl tie-in. Sign me up! While we're at it, might as well set minimum conference ticket prices at $200 per seat per game and demand 40,000 per game commitment. If Benson is really trying to pull crap like that, then we should not wonder one iota why he let the WAC collapse under his watch twice. (The other being the mass migration to form the Mountain West in the late 90s)
  19. No need to sugar coat it, babe. I caught you shacking up with Benson. You harlot!
  20. Well sure, but other than a women's basketball coach from Wake Forest, a Final Four caliber men's basketball coach, a football coach who knows a few things beyond "everybody go long!" a new stadium, a baseball team on the horizin, and a move up in conference, what has Rick Villareal ever done for us?
  21. Heh. That makes me laugh. I hate Boise State with a deep passion from their days in the Big West. They were obnoxious fans who consistently felt themselves too good for the conference. Now they need somewhere to park their crappy non-football sports and not even the lowly Big West wants anything to do with them!
  22. Hey! I cracked it! I'd like to thank all the little people and Tina Yothers for removing Tasty from the list to get me that last roster spot.
  23. Initially award the cup to Rice as the oldest incumbent. Then let them defend it any time they play one of the other three Texas teams. Should someone beat Rice, they get the cup to defend. The cup could ultimately change hands more than once a year and potentially make otherwise meaningless late season games more interesting.
  24. I invite anyone here who is dissatisfied to lay me out a plan to get UNT into the SEC or Big XII right now with current members welcoming us with open arms. The standards that people demand, I'm shocked that every single UNT fan isn't a Viper driving CEO. Never should one settle for less, present realities be damned.
