Southern Miss QB just suspended
oldguystudent replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
I love Mason Fine more and more with each passing day. He's everything I want in a QB representing my team. -

I recently saw that and thought it was a great idea. For many years, I considered that grossly wasted real estate.

Why do I get the feeling that were that game against UT instead of UTSA that the refs would've have called that an incomplete pass or Bussey out of bounds at the 15 capped with some sort of offensive penalty?

When do tickets get delivered?
oldguystudent replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
You lost me on that second part, but I did go to pick them up last year because I wanted to make sure everything was in order (it never had been before). I live in Lewisville, so where can one go punching holes in paper eagles? Asking for a friend. -

Perfect. Thank you! -
By my math, the season begins three weeks from tomorrow. Any info on when tickets go out?

I've gotten used to the high in the sky view. I've gone down to 105 a time or two, and the perspective throws me off. Hard for me to follow plays when looking at them from a level plane. I did, however, find myself in the north end zone for the winning touchdown against UTSA, and I have to say of all the plays I've ever seen at Apogee, including The Stand, being right on top of that play was the best moment I've ever had in the place.

I get that entirely. I love the site lines and the buffet in the club, but I don't love that it's generally as quiet as Willis Library in the seats up there. There's usually one random drunk dude (different guy each time) in my section screaming at the game, and people give him the stink eye. But then again, they sold out those cabanas in the first year, and I can't imagine that the site lines from those things is good at all. Different people do indeed have different priorities, and their money spends just the same as mine does.

I can see that Wren really has a thing for "premium" seating, but I'm just not seeing the value in this one. If these had existed when Apogee had opened, I would most certainly have had no interest in them.

Where did you get this information? The ticket price is nearly double that of a club ticket. How can they command such a premium for what I consider to be a lesser seat?

Closest I got to that is Danny White playing QB and punting. I believe that Ray Guy did some place kicking and kickoffs in his early NFL years, but I would wager the answer to your question is more recent than that.

I don't know how or where that all started, but I have absolutely seen both of my alma maters go from cozily spartan living conditions to everything at or above Hilton hotel levels. I still don't think that is what college should be nor do I think that is what parents or students should demand -- it is against their own best interest, and it sets up students for false expectations on standard of living when they get out and find themselves forced into renting a crappy 2-bedroom apartment with cockroaches and three roommates for the first couple years as they enter their chosen field. But it's there. And I'll circle back to my original theories -- how would any of that have even begun without a massive influx of student debt funding? Is this a financial chicken and egg?

In a very simplified painting with enormously wide strokes world view: 1) The national sport of Texas residents in annual property tax protests keeps increases in revenues limited. 2) The easy credit rip-offs of student loans for anybody and everybody incentivizes universities to raise expenses and costs exponentially (in Texas, this is probably the greater influence. In other states, I'd argue for #1)

I do believe I've heard that before. What..uh...what went awry on that plan?

And my kid is still pushing wanting to go be a longhorn for however many tens of thousands of dollars of debt instead of staying at UNT full ride. Their marketing is THAT strong, and it's gonna be an epic battle on my part to fight it.

Trying to google this thing, and it repeatedly appears that a "Touchdown Terrace" was supposed to be part of the original Apogee plans with a VIP reception to be held there on September 30th, 2011. Interesting.

Where does that $650 figure come from? That's more than buying club seats to go sit in the end zone. Anywho, Apogee not the only one coming up with gimmick seating. The student section at SMU has been moved to an end zone standing only "Party deck." Check this new see, be seen, and liquor up before nefarious post game activities joint.

I think my irrational dislike for all white uniforms comes from suffering through so many road losses. I can't really think of any other viable reason why I feel that way about them.

Man, it looks to me like Hayden Fry was juicing the Eagle!
