  1. Clemson is a 5 to 6-point favorite. For all your oddsmaking needs, I advise vegasinsider.com. It has six individual Vegas sportsbooks plus consensus along with nine offshore online sportsbooks. Not that I would ever use such information for illegal wagering purposes. No. Really. In the 22 years since I made my first legal sports bet, I have never cashed a winning ticket. Not...one...time. I NEVER bet on sports. Like. Ever. I suck at it.
  2. Per Sagarin, there are 351 D1 basketball teams. The NCAA has 68 teams. The NIT has 32. The CBI has 16. The CIT has 32. That's 148/351 for just over 42% of teams in some form of post season play. Credit or discredit CBI and CIT at will, but I've watched my own alma mater go three consecutive seasons starting in the CIT, moving on to the NIT, moving on to the NCAA, so I'm of the school that any and all post season appearance does help with image and recruiting. However, the percentage in football is, in my opinion, so watered down as to render the vast majority of it all but irrelevant.
  3. Mizzou is the first 5-7 team to voluntarily reject any and all bowl bids. I hope others follow suit. It's my understanding that when you start playing in bowl games that are going to take 5-7 teams, it's a financial burden on the team. I guess Missouri didn't see the extra practice time outweighing the financial cost with their coach on the way out.
  4. Until I see a signed contract and an official press release, I believe nothing, and therefore have no opinion on this person whatsoever. History dictates so many twists, turns, and last minute changes that I still believe anybody could be the ultimate hire. For all I know at this point, it could be Karen Aston.
  5. I heard reasons as to why that dismissal took so long. Yay politics! I hope the replacement gets things ship shape because this has been my absolutely biggest gripe. I'm sick of getting my money misallocated, my tickets getting lost, the staff in the ticket office treating me like they're doing ME a favor for giving THEM money, the pulling teeth with a wooden spoon difficulty of buying extra game tickets, the utter impossibility of buying away game tickets (it truly pained me to hand over cash to the SMU ticket office). The customer service has been some of the worst I've ever seen. I'd hire the semi-toothless illiterate staff at my local Braum's who seem incapable of understanding that you don't put ice cream on a burger over some of these jerks that have been working there the past, oh, how long have I been here...eight years. Edit: On that, I feel compelled to give accolades where they are due. Reggie Johnson has absolutely been the man. He's personally made almost all my troubles go away. There seems to be a disconnect with some higher up donors who disagree with me on this. I say Reggie relates to us m-f'ing peons and takes care of us like we count. He needs to stick around. He's the ONLY ticket/AD person who consistently provides superior service, and he provides it with a smile and a thank you. Multiple edits because some of my spelling and grammar were atrocious.
  6. Here's the Sun Belt: So we beat out Idaho and Georgia St. We beat nobody in the American. Mountain West and MAC are incomplete information. I can't find either of those. So per information available, we're 126 of 128. Yay us!
  7. Well, coach A wanted $X per year, but we just didn't have that. So we called coach B on the phone, but he'd already left for INSERTSTATEHERE U. So We give you, with great fanfare, your new University of North Texas head football coach!\
  8. Merely 20 point dogs in this game. Keeping on par with most of our football games then.
  9. I think you mean...
  10. Which facebook page? I see one that doesn't appear to do anything and another that last posted on November 12th about a victory 40 years ago.
  11. From Bret's article: Now I kinda wish I'd thrown out a completely arbitrary number like 15-macaroni.
  12. Meacham is the first leaked "confirmed" name when we heard the list of finalists and yesterday, when Vito said that the hire is confirmed, then when whatever people related to players started tweeting hints that it was absolutely, irrevocably, without a shadow of a doubt, Meacham. This mean that our new head coach is absolutely, irrevocably, without a shadow of a doubt, NOT Meacham.
  13. Tech's average points allowed this season -- 42.583 So....from one North Texas guy to another...
  14. Triumphant return? Question. No info
  15. I'll believe it when I see it. Recall for basketball that everybody was so sure that it was Fran, that The Ticket actually announced Fran as the new coach that morning. Then.... Benford'd
  16. Does it matter? Is he at all involved in athletics? I hear constant, persistent crickets.
  17. You mean Madonna Louise Ciccone?
  18. Buy or rent? Do you need a parking pass for the CUSA Championship game?
  19. The US government will stop imposing taxes on its citizens and the sun will rise in the west before the club stops serving mac and cheese.
  20. Link? I don't see it anywhere.
  21. Maybe he was inconsistent during the halftime practice session. Maybe he's not from Iowa. The world may never know.
  22. I have been chastised in the past for calling out individual players, even when it's been under my breath, to nobody in particular, when I thought I was in private. In this particular case, those who would choose to call me out on this one, I'd refer you to the litany of "locker room cancers" on the basketball team over the past five years. This is no different. Waiting for the twitter update as I write this.
  23. My response is more a carryover from a post I made earlier in the week about what type of attendance we needed today to achieve various annual average benchmarks. We pretty much fell below them all.
