  1. At the beginning of the season or the week before? I think I predicted the loss the week of, although I certainly didn't see it even after the debacle at SMU. Edit: Ah, here we are.
  2. Don't worry guys. The line opened at 15, but it's gone down to 13 1/2! We got this!
  3. Gun owners, dog owners, Christians, Muslims. Virtually everybody is guilty of fearing some particular group of people, then lumping 100% of them together into the "bad" group.
  4. Well, Austin Westlake does have more money and better recruiting.
  5. Stealth hiring :ninja face:
  6. These are all links to gifs. They're like animated pictures, but not full-blown videos. There's a button in the bottom right that says "Insert other media." Click that, then paste the URL of the picture (must end in .png or .jpg) or gif (ends in .gif)
  7. I believe Cal has more scholarship varsity sports than any university in the nation. They do, however, struggle with maintaining competitiveness in a P5 conference because of their academics (as do all UC campuses, but somehow, not Stanford). I just read this morning that the AVERAGE GPA of freshman admitted to 6 of the 9 UC campuses is over 4.0. THAT's tough academic standards for bringing in P5 FBS football players! Under the "leadership" of Sandy Barbour (now at illustrious Penn St.), the whole department went to hell in a hand basket. She attempted to cut several sports. Baseball being one of them, flipped her a Major League bird, made it all the way to the College World Series, and raised perpetual funding from alumni. Does this sound familiar to me? Not very much at all.
  8. How many more times do you think Brock Berglund might be interested in transferring?
  9. Man, I hear him speak, I wanna go buy a tin of dip and a Ford pickup truck. That's GOT to be good for this area. But mostly, I like the part about how he says you have to evolve from year to year and make sure your system fits the players you've got. What the hell is this? Adaptivity?
  10. But we did burn down the beach house.
  11. No need to worry there. We've got an easy FCS team at home!
  12. Sagarin ratings has us at 182 of 254. In FBS, we are in front of Eastern Michigan and Charlotte. We are lower than 55 FCS teams.
  13. I'd never really heard it until I was sitting with the East Side bus crowd at SMU. I do have to admit that I chuckled watching these otherwise prim, proper and demure mid-20s coeds shouting this out. Then again, I've reverence for virtually nothing, so take this all with a grain of salt. (I still have no idea what the words to the alma mater are or why people do the bendy arm thing)
  14. It's 467 miles to Memphis, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark...and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.
  15. Will they clean up their player roster from its current back alley brass knuckles play?
  16. Seems like a Smart hire.
  17. I went to their place a couple years ago. I think I like the restaurant/bar surrounding neighborhood idea thing, but the inside of the building itself felt...how do I describe it? Like it functions, everything necessary for a pleasant D1 experience is in place, but it's like Paul Reubens designed it. I think the aspect that put me over the edge was the five-foot long remote controlled blimp that farted out Rudy's taco coupons. It was like the Universal Studios of basketball arenas, and I think that expands to the retail section outside. Everything super clean, super master planned, devoid of character. I do think the whole thing has potential. It just needs to age a bit. And for the love of all things, get rid of that god forsaken blimp. Regardless of my opinions on their facility, they're going to beat us by 30.
  18. She isn't winning them all, but I sure do like the ones she is.
  19. So not a fan of the U...N...T....m'fing Eagles! chant then?
  20. I like it in theory, but we'd probably be NAIA division 2 by now.
  21. Asking the important questions.
  22. You'd have to tear down some concrete stands to make room for that. Here. I've got the perfect tool.
  23. I think it was 2012. I remember standing in the club, watching the opposing team score against us at will. I remarked, "Man, they're scoring at will against us." That was it. That was the entirety of my statement. This lady standing a few feet away comes up to me, pulls out a necklace with a jersey number on it, shakes it at me, and barks, "Show some respect!" Later, I looked that number up in the program, and it was some freshman offensive lineman who never played that year. I've been pretty careful about my remarks since except for 2015 when the play has been so laughably bad that I couldn't help but laugh out loud at it. When Carlos Harris was introduced at the beginning of the game as one of the outgoing seniors, I involuntarily uttered an audible, "Meh." That turned a few heads, but nobody said anything.
