Mike Canales During His Final Alma Mater

I think @emmitt01 and co's chants of "We want Chico" at the K-State game may have been right on at the time. Everything in retrospect though, right? I'd buy Chico lunch in Denton anytime. (I'd buy him a drink, but I believe he's a teetotaler, which kinda instantly disqualifies him from UNT head coach in the first place) -
Littrell to be named UNT HC per Brett McMurphy

I know. My two statements were unrelated and a result of the software combining my responses. -
Contrast and compare -- 2015 UNT football and 2015 UNT basketball Which wins the annual womp womp trombone award?

I was scheduled to go drinking in Denton tonight. I thought maybe I'd stop in on the game for laughs. Fortunately, my buddy canceled on me, and I'm safely home, devoid of the displeasure of paying however much the cost of a ticket to watch this.

So you played on the Big West 1-A Independent teams? That's waaaay before my consciousness of UNT, but it's really cool. -

I just hope to all things holy that he remembers there are two more sides to football beyond offense. A certain oracle from Southlake showed utter and complete disregard for those, and I do not wish to relive those days. -

I discredit using the whole "January" qualifier for our bowl. We played a 7-5 UNLV team in a bowl that now resides in mid-December. Don't get me wrong. I loved that season and the bowl experience, but the HOD bowl was hardly a premier event relative to any other bowl game. -

At a glance, that North Texas team looks a WHOLE lot better than the 2015 North Texas team. -
I was on my way. I had USC football in 2013. It gets pretty tough to tell dates of firing when you start going earlier than that. Damn you, internet!
-
I'll give that a shot, but I bet those search terms only reliably take me back about 15 years. Something tells me I'm gonna need to dig farther back than that.

The google has been failing me miserably on this ever since I posed the question. I can't even get a remotely related glimmer of relative answer. Also note that the qualifier here isn't merely the football and basketball coach getting fired, but both getting fired in the middle of their respective seasons.

Here ya go. In new, updated, fashion d'jour gif form. Now then. People. Please. When the contract is finally and actually signed, and the announcement is finally and actually made, can we get back to discussing the important things? You know. Uniforms and band formations? -
Meanwhile, in downtown Denton last night:

I need some good ole' fashioned @TheTastyGreek research here. When was the last time a division 1 school fired both its football and basketball coaches mid season?

I didn't get a season ticket thing, but I did get a nifty mean green club four panel cardboard brochure that explains all the giving levels and benefits. Much to my surprise, one of the benefits is "Honors Club Access for Men's & Women's Basketball," which I interpret to be the super secret mean green room. Access begins at the $10,000 level. Parking in the green/white/black lots are now at the $2,500 Parking for basketball is at the $500 level. I don't recall that I've ever paid to park at a basketball game. Are they charging for that now? No news on what the club tickets will cost next year, but they seem to remain fairly constant on a per game amount. It's the guest passes that keep going up. Edit: I post this as a positive thing. I don't think I've ever received anything in the mail that so clearly spells out what mean green club membership is, complete with nifty form to donate today and specific dates when donations are due for the fiscal year.

At this point, I halfway expect them to go get a mannequin from a JC Pennys bankruptcy liquidation sale, slap a green polo and some khakis on it, and set it up on the sideline.
