Does this bring the recruiting class to 21?

I'm thinking you get a lucrative job offer as Dickey's PR guy.

If they start in FCS, that old stadium is fine. Better than playing to crowds of 5,000 in cavernouse JerryWorld. As for Texas Wesleyan bringing NAIA football, how much will they pay us to play there?

I have vague memories of a time in my life when I was able to participate in recreational activities on week nights. I'm not sure when that changed, but the very notion has become a foreign concept to me. Work, particularly up to October 15th, is all consuming during the week. I envy people who have less rigorous schedules (and domestic partners who help feed, clothe and otherwise tend to the kids).

Wasn't in any way meant to be a woe is us type post. Tis the way of the college football these days. Doesn't mean I have to like it.

There could be benefit in being so awful that TV just doesn't want us on, so no date changes.
-
That part will get changed later. The schedule is always all Saturdays until CUSA interjects for television.

On that part, they can raise the minimum required MGC donation and ticket prices, but not require another capital gift.
-
This does pose an interesting question. As far as I understand my club agreement, the only thing I "own" is the right to purchase tickets each year. I'm uncertain what would happen were I to lapse for one year in either the required MGC donation or ticket purchases. But let's assume I keep at it for 20-30 years, and in that time UNT actually becomes good at football, and the club is sold out. Can I leave the right to purchase tickets to my daughter? Can I donate the right to a charity or the school of business?

This gives us a .000010536% chance of running the table.

How cheap did you drink in college?

Man, I really should have gone to college in Texas. Then again, I worked my way through college (ha! that was possible once!) in the campus pub. The employee discount was pretty much steal one, get one free. -

I graduated college in 1994, and don't think I ever saw bar prices like the ones you just listed. The nickel natty perplexes me though. I was quite certain that TABC has a rule that a bar must at least break even on every drink it sells. -
Favorites over the past year were Noah's Mill, Knob Creek Single Barrel 120, Four Roses Single Barrel, Evan Williams Single Barrel. I got a bottle of Buffalo Trace, and there was something about it that rubbed me wrong. I don't remember what it was though. Maybe a little sweet for me. The standard I'm going to down a ridiculous portion of this bottle and not hurt my wallet too badly bottle is Evan Williams black. When out and about in bars and not wanting to go bankrupt, I stick with the Beam. If you're into the rye, Oak Street and East Side are selling Whistle Pig at ridiculously low prices. John Williams bought a whole barrel of the stuff and had it custom bottled.

Spring game is April 23rd. Not sure of the time.

After a year off, I still have only had one night of drinking beer this year. It's not such a hard and fast rule as it was last year, but you kinda get used to it. There's a lot to discover in the way of bourbon and rye, my friend. You've got Total Wine in Denton know. Go exploring. It does, however, really limit your options when going out. Lots of places only serve beer, so you find yourself just not drinking at all.

Man. Maybe I should've gone to this game. Seems Benford is recruiting talent that is playing well despite his coaching.

Positive thoughts about the UNT 2016 schedule ONLY
oldguystudent replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Believe it or not, this is a vestige of the religion in which I was raised. It was dogma not to win at all costs. When I reached adulthood, aggressive competitiveness smacked me pretty hard in the face as it was an entirely foreign concept to me. -

Positive thoughts about the UNT 2016 schedule ONLY

Do you not Spinal Tap? -
The first half of the season last year coincided with tax deadlines. I couldn't have stayed over no matter what. Some games, I drove from Denton back down to Dallas to go back to work. Others, I had to go back in on Sunday morning. This year appears to work out a little better.
-
To the original question, for the entire 2015 season, I had a single two ounce taste of wine. Life, the scheduling, and the year without beer all conspired to prevent me from drinking at games. Probably better that way. This upcoming schedule is much more amicable to me. But since they tore down my beloved Royal Motel, I've got to either figure out a new plan or continue to be the sober guy.

Positive thoughts about the UNT 2016 schedule ONLY

If on the scale of love for the athletic department from 1 to 10, you're a -1 and KRAM is an 11, I reside somewhere in the 5 range. The wins and losses aren't as unconditionally important to me because I enjoy the entire day. Basically, neither outlier is going to get me to join the fun times of extremities. -
Positive thoughts about the UNT 2016 schedule ONLY

While I don't expect much this year because we'll still be suffering from a lack of talent hangover, this particular point is one that I hold hope greatly improves. I don't know what it was about Mac and road games, but he just didn't seem to be able to win them. Hopefully this new staff will have whatever intangible to change that. I re-read my original club agreement a few times. The only thing they can really do on these new things is increase the annual minimum mean green club donation. Based on nothing more than pure speculation, I imagine they'll do the 3-4-5 year thing like they're doing with the suites, and the minimum will decrease with each year we go out. The only thing that will miff me is if they impose an increase on the 2016 season since I already renewed in December based on what I thought was the appropriate amount because the athletic department solicited me to do so. I budget for this thing annually, so an increase this year will be a bit of an inconvenience, and leave a bad taste in my mouth. If they want to increase it going forward, and they give me sufficient notice to budget for that, then assuming it's not suddenly many thousands of dollars, I'll probably be ok with it. Hell, it could even be a blessing because it could potentially give me rights to purchase floor seats for basketball, which is something I would marginally consider if performance were to improve. You know basketball even in the best of times isn't exactly my preferred sport, but I'd at least consider it. But if they solicited renewal two months ago, and now tell me that wasn't enough, that's really going to suck a lot. -
One last time for good measure. Hey coach, what's the secret to your defense?

Third conference win brings us to 7-6 at home. I smell an extension on the horizon!
