Why does Louisiana even bother having not LSU colleges? The way certain state legislatures act against their own self interest in the pursuit of football is appalling to me. (I'm looking at you too, Texas. Don't think you're gonna quietly go sit in the corner)

All I know is that I placed my first legal sports bet 23 years ago. Since then, I have won exactly zero dollars and zero cents on every sports related wager I've made. Twenty three years. Zero dollars, zero cents. Let that sink in for a while. Until last night. I know nothing about Villanova. I don't know what state they're in. I don't know what their mascot is. I have no idea what their win to criminal act ratio is. Nothing. But their victory last night secured me sole possession of second place out of 61 brackets in the office pool last night.

I want to know the realities of the reasonableness test for fear of life between police and civilians. I know Texas has castle law. What I don't know is that if I see someone 15 feet away from me with a BB gun if it would be considered reasonable for me to shoot him dead as a civilian. My impression is that the standards are not equal nor are they equally applied.

I've had a cop's gun in my face once. I working maintenance at the campus apartments and couldn't sleep one night, so I went in super early. I put a pot of coffee on, got a newspaper, then went to take care of some serious business. Next thing I know, campus police kicks in the stall door and puts a gun in my face. I look up from my paper, look down at the compromised position I was in, looked back up at the cop, and said, "Yes?" What I didn't know what that the building had a silent alarm that turned off at 6am. I'd gotten there at 5:30. Once I identified myself, showed the cop my license, showed him my keys to get in, he and his partner laughed and said, "We kinda wondered why a burglar would be making coffee!"

I do kinda wonder what dream he's holding on to. He did nothing at Kansas, nothing at UNT, nothing at Northern Colorado. And I'm not engaging in hyperbole here. He did nothing. He has shown zero progress. He has accomplished nothing. But he still keeps bouncing around, now in a Canadian college. (I didn't even know Canada had college football). You've got like three college educations by now, kid. Stop the delusions and go make something of yourself. Then again, certain personal encounters with related parties suggest his entire existence is built upon a solid foundation of delusion.

The crowd here is going to argue ad eternum about what type of student the university should aim to attract. Do you go for the whole AAU Tier 1 We're a Dixie Ivy accept less than 30% of applicants and those who enter all have perfect SAT scores and upper crust politically connected parents or do you continue to serve the DFW everyman? Both serve definite, positive purposes. UNT needs to choose one, but neither the university nor its alumni seem to be able to choose.

There's benefit in lying on both sides, and profit to be made by publicity. Duke isn't the only case I don't want to discredit this Baylor situation, but neither do I wish to blindly jump over the ledge and crucify an entire institution, and believe me, I'm no fan of this particular institution. The current environment would have me scared shitless to merely be a 20 year old male on any given college campus today. Women face real fears and danger. They also are brought up to magnify those fears and dangers. Men are taught that they are inherently a danger to women. Something has gone horribly, horribly awry out there.

I looked up his Northern Colorado stats once. All I could find was a single pass attempt in 2014. If I remember correctly, it was a completion for negative yards. He doesn't show at all on the Northern Colorado 2015 stats, in what would be his senior year.

I'm still surprised I haven't seen anybody open carry since the law went in to effect. In fun news, I was working on this guy's tax returns. He's too rich and too busy to bother opening his own mail. So included in his "Tax Documents" was an envelope from what issuing agency containing his shiny new CHL. I had to call him and let him know. "Oh yeah. I did get that. Can you just mail it out to me?" I'll lay odds that I mail it out to him, he finds himself too rich and too busy to open it, and he sends it right back to me as "tax documents"

In my last two years in my former profession, we got sold to private equity. They imposed over three sales cycles, 47%, 89%, and 100% quota increases, each on top of the previous. Then they cut the production team, so the product we were tasked to sell literally didn't exist. Then they tried to make us sign a responsibility waiver that we would not hold the newly acquired company liable should we fail to quintuple our sales over three years with product that didn't exist. It was once a great job for a great company that I would've loved to be a great lifelong career. When I turned in my resignation, they begged me to stay. They offered me an immediate 20% increase in compensation. I refused. 12 months later, the entire sales force had been fired in favor of independent contracting free lancers that nobody had to actually pay. I suffered through a couple three years of dire poverty in grad school, and ultimately came out way ahead of the game because I knew when to fish and when to cut bait. Sometime the demands of the job are unrealistic and unattainable no matter the compensation or promises.

So basically, they're going to take an internet poll before saying anything, then probably agree with it. Journalism at its finest. In all honesty, I don't think I could in good conscience vote in that pool.

The typo in the title of this thread makes for a much more interesting story.
