I didn't go. I was available to do so, but just couldn't motivate myself. I find the silence on the board this evening deafening. I watched a few minutes of the stream well after the game and agree with assessments that it kinda looks like Dodgeball 2.0. I understand that Mac left us pretty much nothing (ah, ye olde timey empty cupboards argument), and that this year will probably be pretty painful. But overall, the class warfare among the fan base has really turned me off as of late. These are entertainment dollars for me, and I'm not having fun. Finally, after receiving my email about club access only yesterday, I didn't want to set myself up for frustration by dealing with that getting screwed up too.

Isn't this what the whole thing is ultimately about? They're student athletes, right? It makes me feel good when I see stories of athletes making use of the educational opportunities provided them be it football or tennis or swimming, or any other sport.

I gave away a pair last year, but don't know the details of the upcoming schedule yet. There will surely be one game that gets switched to a Tuesday afternoon or something that I won't be able to make. When is your deadline for donation commitments?

I could give you a name by name rundown on that. For some, you are correct. For others, you are marginally on base. For others, you are incredibly wrong. Some of them definitely have near religious zeal for the university and everything contained therein. It is infallible. It can do no wrong. I have heard others go off on some incredible profanity laden rants that made even my worldly ears burn a little. There are different motivations for people to spend big money here. Like any group, you can't collectively assign one personality to each individual.

I'm amused that people think the 17 are some mysterious secret society of anonymous enigmas. It takes like five seconds to get a publicly published list sent to your printer. There is nothing anonymous or mysterious about them. They are all there, in the open, writing checks, attending games.

On this point, I actually agree with you. 80 players on the roster is a frightening prospect. We're playing FCS level ball out there with an FCS level roster. In trying to keep a more positive mindset, I'm going to try to remind myself that Litrell inherited this mess after McCarney set a dumpster fire to the recruiting machine. It's gonna take a while, if ever, for Littrell to get out there and start selling this program again. Fortunately, it really does look to me like he's pounding that recruiting pavement pretty hard. I just don't think it's going to do much for the 2016 season.

Remember a couple years ago how pissed off some people were that the fraternities were staying outside the stadium on couches during the game? So I suppose it doesn't surprise me that some would advocate criminal records for that behavior. The laws for that are on the books, and this is still Texas, where a substantial portion of the population still teetotals religiously. That said, let's go ahead and take the one enjoyable aspect of an otherwise increasingly miserable experience and turn it in to a police state. That'll bring in the fans.
